This location is gorgeous - plenty of outdoor tables, an indoor-outdoor feel for the inside bar, easy plaza parking, and lovely surrounding shops. I've heard so much about the "Father's Office burger" and wanted to try it for myself. First of all, it's not really a burger? It's looks like a banh mi sandwich, from the visuals of the bread. Part of why I love burgers is their fluffy kind of sweet burger bun bread, so this bread was not it. The inside of the burger was fine, decent but honestly nothing to write home about. I really enjoyed the aioli sauce that came with the fries, but other than that, the burger was definitely mid. Service was fine - they made us sit in the bottom outdoor half because we had a tiny elderly chihuahua in a stroller with us. I am a beer lover so when I got the text that their downtown location was going to have a Russian River takeover we were in the car and on our way.. This location is setup differently from our local Culver City spot with much more indoor seating and bigger bar, but same awesome beer & food. Parking is super easy as there is a lot across the street since we didn't see any street parking. You all should know by now about their food - it's solid, has something for everyone and THERE IS NO KETCHUP. If you don't know the story, look it up. Since we hit the Culver City location often, we opted out of their famous burger this time and went for the ribs (me) and duck salad (wife). Didn't disappoint in the least and throw in a few tater tots and super vinegary deviled eggs, and we had enough food to get right to the real main course - the beer. The bartenders and managers know their beer! Ask them questions, ask them for recommendations and they will point you in the right direction. Russian River never lets you down and this night was no exception, but they have tons of other great beers across the board and do a great job of supporting our local breweries. I am not a contrarian. I was head over heels for Titanic. I collected Pogs and know that Batman's butler has a last name- Pennyworth. Thus I consume what is known to delight. I also have varied interests, so I am not just an aimless consumer of what is on brand. I say all this because I do not want to seem like I am a skewer of what other's love because other's seem to love Father's Office burger (I think I saw an article that named it one of three top burgers in LA) and at most, I find the burger something to get when you are there. Meaning that it does not deserve its own special stop. I firmly believe that you can get a better burger in LA, and if you skip this one, you will not be missing out, except on the fact that you can know for yourself if the hype is true or not, and secondly, this knowledge can offer you a point of comparison for other burgers. The burger consists of the following: dry-aged chuck, caramelized onions, Gruyère and Maytag blue cheeses, applewood-smoked bacon, and arugula on a bun. The combination is meant to conjure a perfect burger. The restaurant is so firm in their belief that they do not allow ketchup on the burger as it would be adding tint the Mona Lisa of burgers. Meaning adding another ingredient to the burger would transform the perfect to the cracked, and this is no moment to remind the world that a flaw in the grand design is what makes it truly beautiful and worthwhile. So what exactly is my complaint about the burger? To be clear, I do not hate this burger, I do not throw darts at its poster- I simply believe that it does not deserve the acclaim it receives. It could be my own bias. I typically do not like cheese on my burger. And when you add a cheese like blue cheese, then you assume a level of familiarity with a cheese that is not common. Most typical people are familiar with Red Robin like blue cheese not the blue cheese that live in this burger. Like the rest of the ingredients are flavor-forward yet familiar. It is like adding duck bacon to the burger, it has standard ingredients and then the pop of flavor comes in, but it is not in concert with the others, it is the outlier of flavor that does not quite find its place with other familiar flavors. If the burger had a more standard cheese like Wisconsin's most sharp and brilliant cheddar, the burger might know itself as truly complete. The burger flavor is light and juicy. I ate half of one, and half one was gone in simple bites. The argula should be crisp lettuce, as I think most people would recognize a clean and green fondness better than the bitterness of that winter-like green. So this burger is a 7.4 of 10. Good, not great. The rest of the bar food is just not for me. The best thing that I had that night was salt and vinegar tots. They took me back to cafeteria days and brought me into the now with the new flavor twist, that was new yet worked with the tot. Think of Lay's potatoes. If you enjoy the salt and vinegar type chips you will understand these because they just enhance the original tot or chip, as the case may be. I love, love, love Brussels. But these I did not. They were just below ok. They were still ok, just not fully ok. It came with a strip of bacon. The dish tasted a little cold, like it was ready and brought in a group that took more time to get ready, which also meant that the bacon (maybe it was a strip of something else) lost its crispiness. And I hate to sound petty, but a strip of bacon atop brussels, should be broken and sprinked into the dish. Handing me a spear makes me want to pick it up and not eat it while I eat the Brussels. And the drink, was just ok too! It was an Aviation, with vodka. I really don't do tequila. They had mostly beer and wine. I am not a drinker, so they lost me here. That is a me thing not a them thing. Also, the prices were not in the menu atop. And with today's inflation, it is more common sensed to ask for prices to make sure your bill remains sensible than to proclaim elegance with no prices on a menu. They also had a small tv, which begged the question what would this place play Love Island or Dodger Games? The best thing about this place were the picture of the murals I took from within. Parking is tough as you can imagine but there are plenty of paid lots surrounding the area (with one directly outside the restaurant for $5 per hour) The menu is simple and well executed. The interior is chic and cozy, dimly lit, fairly quiet ambiance with plenty of bar seating. The restrooms are separated but share a communal sink area. Entrees do not come with sides (if you get a burger make sure to add on fries because their shoestring fries with garlic sauce is to die for) You order your food at the bar and then they'll bring it to your table. This is for the LA Arts District location. I have also visited the location in Santa Monica. The burger here is similar to Santa Monica and is really good but I prefer a less "wet" burger. I feel the onions, bacon, sauce topping is just too messy and takes away from the burger. Buyer beware, absolutely no modifications are allowed. If you don't like the toppings, you'll have to remove them yourself after served. That said, the lamb skewers are really tender and flavorful. Recommended. The pork ribs are really the best. I do not usually like a BBQ pork rib, especially with a wet sauce, but these are not a really sweet BBQ and the pork is "fall off the bone" tender. They come in a shallow bowl with sauce if you want more, but whatever sauce stuck to the ribs was adequate. Very delicious and highly recommended. Garlic fries are pretty good. Very thin shoestring style. Tater tots - what can I say.....pretty much any tater tot is good. Order at the bar, pay at the bar. This 21 & over gastropub is located in the Garey Building, corner of E. 2nd St. and S. Garey St. in the Arts District, DTLA. Parking can be challenging during peak hrs, but we were lucky enough to find a spot in the "Perfect Parking" alley-style lot @$5/hr on the east side of the building at 929 E. 2nd (although the pub advertises $8 flat parking when you dine with them, we just couldn't figure it out). The area feels really safe. I was hesitant to go here because they do not permit any substitutions and/or modifications to any menu items, but I was extremely satisfied with everything here. We stopped on Saturday evening for dinner, walked right in, and grabbed a table. You scan the menu at your table and go up to the bar to place your order (the menu is also listed at the bar). They'll give you a number, then deliver your food to your table. I tried "The Office Burger," which consists of bacon compote, caramelized onions, arugula, Gruyere & Maytag Blue cheese on French bread accompanied by a "Basket of Sweet Potato Frites" and an "Allagash White" to drink. Everything tasted amazing, the food so fresh cooked to perfection with great presentation. No ketchup and/or mustard, so don't ask LOL. The beer was perfectly cold and satisfying. What a fantastic place for a drink and some phenomenal food! First, parking is on the street, pretty easy, I usually can find a spot around the neighborhood, but you may have to drive a little distance and walk a few blocks, but it's easy walk. I went on a Sunday night about 2hrs before closing, and it was pretty quiet, sat down easily at the bar, which was a nice quartz countertop (pretty sure that's quartz). Got the menu right in front of me behind the bar and on the QR code as well. Lot so good options. I got the Office burger, which was freaking fantastic, got it cooked medium, great flavor and texture, the right amount of chew and flavorful, with a lot of arugula packed inside, so it was lean meat plus lot of veggies between some fresh buns. Highly recommended. I also shared a Prime Hangar Steak, which was cooked medium, came out delicious (more like medium rare in finish), and I complemented the main dishes with some sweet potato fries, which were crispy and came with a nice dressing on the side. For beer, I wasn't sure what to get so our bartender Kemp recommended the Figueroa Mountain Agua Santa Cerveza, it was some of the best beers. I don't like hoppy beers usually so I don't drink IPAs and rarely hazy IPAs, and I wanted something light and refreshing, and this Agua Santa was the perfect choice. Met a friend here to catch up. Have been to Father's Office in years, and that was the Santa Monica location, but always had fond memories of the office burger. So came here to see if my memories were real or just something I made up. The restaurant is self seating, and you order your food at the bar. They also have a wealth of beers available as well as cocktails, though the cocktail list is more limited. We both ordered the Office Burger, though my friend didn't really eant a burger, he just got it because I told him I remember it being phenomenal. Food arrived at the table quickly, as it wasn't busy (around 530p). Biting into the burger brought back so many great memories (felt like that moment in Ratatouille). The bun is very soft, while the meat is cooked perfectly (you can choose for you want the best cooked, that's the only choice you get regarding the burger). The caramelized onions have a nice sweetness and the blue cheese covered with the gruyere takes it to a whole different level. My friend was mid sentence when he said, "This burger is amazing". This is the only office I'd stay overtime at. I love coming to Father's Office for drinks and bites after work. I've been here on two occasions now, and the vibes here are unparalleled. The format is set up where you order food and drinks at the bar, and the tables are open seating. This does cause a bit of a seating problem, especially right after work when everyone wants a drink and people save seats. But when my party did find seats, service was great. I love their burger here--probably one of the best I've ever had! I'm normally not a bleu cheese type of gal, but paired with the flavors of this burger, i actually don't mind the cheese. And you can't skip the sweet potato fries! They're so so good and such a generous portion. They have a wide selection of beers on tap, which made choosing a little difficult. The only anecdote I'd like to share is that I got carded by the same employee twice less than 10 minutes apart between each instance. Showed up last night (Wednesday) around 5:30pm and we were literally the only customers there! Sat at the bar and had excellent service with Amanda. She gave me a beautiful pour of my yummy Pinot Grigio wine, and helped us pick the barley salad to go with the burger. The food was perfect. Burger (medium) is always epic, the frites with it are perfect. And the barley salad was soooo tasty! A nice cold refreshing vegan salad with a smoky bbq taste. I've never had anything like it. We got lucky with street parking about 2 blocks away. My husband wishes they had mocktails or more special drinks for non drinkers. Like ginger beer or an Arnold Palmer or something. I unintentionally tried this Michelin star gastropub. My friend's gf invited a group out for a surprise bday party and I'm so glad I attended. We went around 7pm and lucky for us there weren't a lot of people there. The dining room is self seating so we were able to snag up a table for 10 no problem. There was no rush ordering food or drinks. There are only bussers and bartenders so when you're ready for drinks, food, and water you'll have to go to the bar and place your order there. Staff here are very friendly, nice, and inviting! Ambiance was definitely casual and chill but could also feel very romantic with the dim lights at night and the open windows during the day. The food was absolutely amazing. They have a no altering menu policy so if you're someone that is a picky eater, or perhaps someone who unfortunately has food allergies you might want to plan ahead before trying to get into it with the staff (they don't make the rules). However if you're like me (a human garbage disposal), then dive in and enjoy. I tried the office burger medium rare. It was filled with arugula and blue cheese. Super juicy and tender, and the bread was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. There might've been other ingredients but it was so good I didn't put the burger down or have the time to dissect it to see what I was eating. The salt and vinegar tater tot's: who would've that of that combo? It was surpassingly good. Crispy and piping hot, Salty, sour, and creamy with the ranch. It all came together PERFECTLY. My only regret was not eating more things off the menu. I will definitely be bringing friends and family here in the future. Note: parking is super hard to come by. Finally trying Father's Office in DTLA. I love aged beef so I had to try The Office Burger... Parking on the street is like winning the lottery so best to use the parking structure, $10 for 2 hours. Got the Deviled Eggs, Berbere Spiced Cauliflower, Roasted Bone Marrow, Frites in a Basket and The Office Burger. For the price, we didn't get a lot of marrow. We still had one piece of toast left with nothing to put on it. The Deviled Eggs were good. Had a nice, spicy kick to it. The cauliflower was very tasty and the Berbere spice reminded me of masala. Now onto The Office Burger. You can't make any modifications on it, but I thought the caramelized onions were a little too overpowering and took away from the dry aged flavor. Once I removed them both, the dry aged flavor came through and it was lovely. For the price without any drinks, it was tough; especially when you had to walk up to the bar, wait and then place your order. After which, someone brought it to your table. Then very little follow up and didn't even ask to refill our water. If there was a downside to Father's Office, it would be that. Luckily the people before us didn't order a lot of drinks. Cauliflower was seasoned with many spices that gave the aroma of curry and red pepper. Atop the cauliflower was a citrus slaw. These were both very good as well. Sampled a few drinks with friends so I was able to try their beers. I'm not a beer fan but these beers were special and unlike the regular stuff you get at the supermarket. I had the pleasure of sampling the Bottle Logic Hanamachi Yuzu, Garage Brewing Mango Hefeweizen, and Russian River Row 2 Hill 56. The yuzu beer was really nice and refreshing. I did hear the bartender mention they change their beers seasonally so I hope people get to try these while the flavors are around. Service was excellent. Staff were charming and attentive. The hours say they close at 10:00pm on Sundays but they start doing last order for kitchen items around 8:30pm when friends and I were there so plan your visit accordingly if you plan on eating. I've been to Father's Office like over 5 years ago but wow the taste hasn't changed. It's still really good. I ordered the office burger and sweet potato fries. The office burger was juicy and very tasty. The burger is a normal size burger but very filling. I ended up only eating half and taking the other half home because I was so full. The sweet potato fries were amazing. They were served warm and crunchy. The sauce that came with the fries were also delicious. I would definitely order this again next time I come. I took off one star because service was okay but it could be much better. The server was not attentive and I was asking the same things over and over again. There was also a time where they just ignored me while I was talking to them. The restaurant is very big and spacious. The bar looked pretty chill too. We were turned away a few times. They'll suggest that you tie your dogs outside. Absolutely not. We ordered takeout from this location due to their policy against dogs. Burger is good as always but their chicken sandwich was lacking. The fries and tater tots are good. We were able to enjoy it with ketchup since it was takeout. I would skip the curry cauliflower. Father's Office is extremely rigid about their policy of no substitution and no ketchup, so beware if you have any food allergies. I really hope management will turnaround and allow dogs in their outdoor patio. Difficult to understand why they have such rigid and inconvenient policies. Arts District is one of the most dog friendly neighborhoods. I'll also add that we were once turned away because our friend had a newborn baby with her. They said 21+ only. We were never turned away from restaurants that serve alcohol or bars because of a newborn baby in stroller or car seat. I find that most places are accommodating and flexible. Again, very rigid on Father's Office's part. Overall, burger is good but Father's Office is not an accommodating and friendly establishment. read more

Food was amazing and so were the drinks. The mixologist served classic cocktails and some with a unique twist. They had a great selection of craft beer too. Combine that with great ambiance and friendly staff and this place is a win. read more

Cool burger and brew joint in/near art district with lots a space for large parties and outdoor seating as well. Parking can be tricky depending on the time and day you come, so if you can't find street parking they have a garage that is 2hr/ $8 with validations from Father's Office, max $16. Not the cheapest but it's right next door. When we went we ordered at the bar and seated ourselves. The beer selection is good, they have many IPAs. For food, we got the tater tots and burger to share. The tots are salt and vinegar flavored, which were really good if you enjoy that. Burger was also really tasty, although they really upped the price on it. Nice, chill place to dine and chat, and just a short walk away from nearby breweries as well. read more

This Father's Office is located on Second Street in the Art's District in downtown Los Angeles. The burger, one of the best you'll likely try, is simple, juicy and full of flavor. Unfortunately, the entrees do not come with sides (fries or otherwise) but I recommend getting the salt and vinegar tater tots, which offers a delicious contrast to the burger. The chicken sandwich was equally delicious, crunchy, moist, and more delicious after each bite. Parking, however, can be an issue if you're trying to avoid paying for parking. There is very limited street parking. If paying for parking is not an issue, there is a lot right next to Father's Office that you can enter from 2nd Street. Parking fee for the adjacent lot, as of December 2022, is $8 per hour. Great place with a distinct gastropub vibe. Diner be warned: absolutely no substitutions or modifications to any menu item. I docked a star for the culinary inflexibility. Verily, stay true to your vision; but in a multicultural megalopolis, surely I'm not the only patron who wants to give you their money but have dietary restrictions. Moving on, the chicken sandwich was excellent and the mountain of perfectly crisp fries was glorious. But again, don't get hung up on the fact they don't serve ketchup (ok guy, we get it, but I'm paying). Oh Father's Office, why has it been so long since last we've met? Thank you for opening a location in the Arts District of DTLA. Parking on the street is painful, but worth the trouble. So, is FO the best burger in LA? I guess the debate probably rages on. In my opinion, it is one of the best. You order at the bar, you find a table, then they'll bring everything to you. The Office Burger is something special. The caramelized onions are dark and just sweet enough. The leafy arugula has a nice hint of spiciness. There are two cheeses: sharp notes of blue cheese and creamy nutty gruyere. The dry-aged beef must be cooked medium rare, of course. Red, juicy, supple, yet structurally stable. There's a little bacon, and the burger is just so buttery. The burger is held together by a garlic butter toasted small baguette. The FO policy is no substitutions and ketchup is nowhere to be found. But really, why would you mess with, dare I say it, perfection? The Berbere Spiced Cauliflower or the Spicy Shrimp and Grits or Frites in a "Basket" all make excellent sides. Wash this all down with an Allagash White, or the brilliantly curated beer menu, with so many fine choices that you could just get lost in. read more
