I'm so glad I found this place through Yelp because the BBQ was fantastic, Michael the owner was so friendly, and it was a good change of pace from some of the more expensive sit down restaurants in town. In tourist towns, while I'll try some of the highly acclaimed restaurants popular with tourists, I especially like to find the local gems like this. The brisket and ribs were seasoned well, tender, and flavorful with a touch of smokiness. I liked that the ribs didn't have a hard bark and wasn't overly burnt. Coleslaw was perfect and had just the right amount of mayo/creaminess and sweetness. The beans are deliciously seasoned pinto beans, not your typical sweet baked beans. I really liked them. I went for an early dinner so it was slow enough that I had a chance to chat with Michael. We had a great conversation and I immediately felt like I was talking a good neighbor or friend. He's from Texas and is genuine, warm, and hospitable, like many of people I've met over the past week in this cozy and charming town. Highly recommend for both locals and tourists!! read more

On Wednesday, June 19th, Kim and I ordered 2, 2 meat plates, brisket and pulled pork with a side of beans. We ate our fill and took the leftovers back to the motel. The next night I bought a couple hard rolls at Albertsons and we ate some of the leftovers. Tonight we finished the last bit of leftovers and all I can say is Fat Racks BBQ is delicious. 2 plates 6 meals! The owner is exceptionally friendly and ya know from the minute he opens his mouth he is a good ole honest barbecuing Texan! We order the brisket plate w slaw and a sweet tea, and a full rack of baby backs. To explain it best the bones on the ribs are only there as a guide, once the meat hits ur mouth the bone is no longer needed as the meat departs it with no fuss! Now let me tell ya this, I grill a lot and I've had a lot of bbq over the years and these ribs are superior to any I've made or had prior! Seasoned and smoked to perfection! NO SAUCE NEEDED! BBQ worthy of a trip to Cody for! I ordered the 3 meat plate (ribs, pulled pork, & brisket) with coleslaw and beans. The star of the show was definitely brisket! I got 5 slices of lean brisket that was moist and smokey and made me long for a trip to Texas! The ribs were excellent the had a wonderful smokey flavor and pulled off the bone easily. The pulled pork was moist and smokey. The sides were also great. The slaw was sauced just right with just a hint of sweetness. The beans surprised me! We used to get food from Fat Racks when they were located at the Cody Airport. It was really good and reasonable. Our recent experience with Fat Racks now located on Sheridan did not live up to what it used to. The ribs were the worst ribs we have ever eaten. Dry, no flavor and very small amount of meat for the cost. The second complaint is they are extremely costly for what you get. Fat Racks does not hold a candle to Bubbas quality. Fat Racks is AMAZING!!! I enjoyed lunch at Fat Racks many times in Cody. Then, I moved away but eventually decided to get married in YNP and hold the reception in Wapiti. I was always impressed with Fat Racks, asked them to cater the wedding, and the food and service was phenomenal. Michael is such a nice guy, everyone was really impressed. Seriously, several wedding guests approached us during/after the wedding to tell us how much they enjoyed the food. I only spent a summer in Wapiti/Cody, but Fat Racks was, by far, the best food I ate while living in the area. Stayed in Cody for 5 days and ate here twice! The brisket, ribs, sausage, potato salad, and OMG the sauce were SO good. Which is saying a lot because I'm not even a big meat eater. The owner is a nice guy from Texas and the food is delicious...and the name? C'mon, hilarious. We wanted to buy some merch, but he was sold out. So we're hoping to purchase some when the new merch comes in. Definitely recommend eating here and will come back next time we visit Yellowstone/Cody. He mentioned they're about to open a location at the Yellowstone airport too! Okay, let me start by saying this place was a food truck but is now located at the airport. Simple to find. The food truck will be up and running as of July 1st. We were staying a mile away at the KOA campground contemplating ordering pizza ( it's the only delivery in the area) luckily for us we decided to walk the mile instead of Dominos. The service was excellent- we also had our little dog ( in a dog stroller) and they were very accommodating. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and salad, my husband ordered a 2 meat plate, brisket and pulled pork. His came with coleslaw and he had a salad too. The food tasted like you were eating at someone's home. Very large portions, moist and flavorful. The owner/chef came and checked on everyone at their tables. I didn't ask him his name but he was very nice. He told us the restaurant location had only been open for 3 weeks. For those who love BBQ, especially those down the road at KOA, you won't be disappointed. FYI- we found a Cody Cabs to bring us back to KOA. Everyone we've come across in Cody has been very polite! The owner is very friendly and originally from Texas. He promised this will be the best BBQ I ever had. We ordered baby back ribs and brisket. Well, he was right. It's the best bbq we have ever had. Both the baby back ribs and brisket were so tender and flavorful. The quality of the meat was outstanding and not fatty at all. He gave us bbq sauce which was good but we didn't need it. My family and I were passing through Cody, Wyoming, on our way to the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park when we found Fat Racks BBQ on Yelp with 5 stars. It is a rare find, so we decided to give it a try. It is a red trailer converted to a food truck. I like its being located on a quiet, clean, safe street corner with wooden tables and chairs outside in the sun making it suitable for eating during the current pandemic. I ordered the brisket and baby back ribs with potato salad meal. My children also ordered the same meat combination, but each of them chose cole slaw and beans for their sides. We waited for about 10 minutes for our order to be ready. When we opened our styrofoam food boxes, our food appeared very pleasing to the eyes with just the perfect color and texture. When we took our first bites of the ribs and brisket, they proved to be the best BBQ we have ever tasted: flavorful, tender, moist, and freshly cooked. I can only think of one word to describe it best: PERFECT. The sides are great complements to the already perfect food. I can tell the food here is prepared with a lot of love. Michael, owner, is truly nice and humble and takes great care of his customers. He might as well be appointed ambassador of goodwill for Cody! How I wish Michael will bring his business to Los Angeles, so the rest of my family and friends can also taste the best BBQ ever! read more

Sorry but the brisket was dry. Also a friend ate there at a different time and said their brisket was dry as well. Highly disappointed. The ribs were pretty good as was the pulled pork. The sauce was ok but that's pretty subjective. I prefer sweeter while husband prefers a vinegar based one. Would choose Bubba's over this...I do love their sauce. read more
