We were hungry for dinner and decided to give this place a try. We were seated right away and immediately visited the buffet. It's not a huge selection of different foods, but there was enough to choose from and it was a lot of the greatest hits. Great Chinese Buffet, post-COVID19 IN Cody,WY. Not many buffets survived the pandemic, and this is one of the few who reopened. The atmosphere was what one would expect, and the servers kept water & iced tea glasses full and plates cleared. The food was delightful, in fact, I was surprised at just how good it was. $71 for two adults and a kid to have the buffet. Ridiculous. This buffet was terrible. Lo mein was spaghetti noodles with some sauce fried rice was white rice with egg in it. Egg rolls were peppered cabbage only. The food wasn't season well. We had one person check on the table. They got us drinks and we never saw another person. There were five people huddled at the register looking at people and then laughing as they walked away. One lady asked if they were going to have Moore chicken and the girl said "I don't know there are no cooks out here to ask". What? But $71 was too much for this place. Guess she assumed I was doing the buffet. So, I tried it. It all looked pretty good but looks absolutely deceive. The egg flower soup was like I had never tasted before...terrible. I had some chicken, beef and fish selections. I wouldn't go back for any of them. The desert section looked very good, but again, pretty tasteless. Even the soft serve ice cream was tasteless. I hardly ever leave yelp reviews, but this place was so bad I feel compelled to do so. We got there an hour prior to closing but it was obvious they were closing down shop already. The food was mostly tasteless. The peppered chicken was 99 percent breading and hardly any chicken. Fried rice was just white rice with eggs. They were out of a lot of dishes and did not refill anything while we were there. The desert bar was trashed so we decided to get ice cream. But alas, the ice cream machine was out. On top of that, it cost us about $60 for 4 people. Don't go here! Total waste of money. read more

I came here an hour before closing -- that was my mistake. Some of the items looked like they'd been out all day. For instance, the wasabi was all dried out and looked like a relic. Although I cannot blame the restaurant too much for having less-than-desirable food at the end of the day, I wasn't impressed by their selection. One of the smallest Chinese buffets I've been to. It is a little town though and I am not sure how much tourism they get, so once again, I can't be too critical. The food was very basic but that's usually the case with these types of buffets. I was looking forward to dessert because that's hard to mess up but even that was kind of disappointing. All the pastries were really dried out and unappetizing. Couldn't even finish. Service was friendly. Parking was easy to find on the street. It's the only Chinese buffet in town although you can get take-out Chinese elsewhere. I'd say avoid in late evening, for sure. read more

The food was good, went right around 6pm the only downside was they weren't really on top of restocking stuff, there were only a couple items that were fresh (steaming hot), the soups were dangerously low, the place was very clean and the service was good. I will be trying again when it's busy season to see if when there's more customers coming through there that they are more on top of stocking fresh foods. read more

We have been here many times over the past two years and it has always been excellent. Staff quite attentive and stay on top of keeping the buffet area clean and replenished (even regularly swapping out the serving spoons/tongs). Tour buses stop here daily; so, we try to avoid going when they are there (they overwhelm the establishment in my opinion and destroy the restrooms - caught some tour people bathing in the sink; plus, since the tour groups are on busy schedules the patrons swoop in and turn a peaceful dining experience into a feeding-frenzy). This place is our guilty pleasure when we are in Cody (every two weeks or less). read more

Where the food lacks quality, the service made up for it; where the interior lacks appeal (and cleanliness - the uncarpeted floor leading to the bathroom is super sticky!), the exterior landscaping made up for it. The food is not worth mentioning, even my aunt who's not a good cook can make what's offered here (the rice is horrible, it's in between well done rice and porridge!) But the service is incredible! You're immediately greeted warmly when you step food in the establishment. They encourage you to check out the buffet but would also let you order if you're not feeling all-you-can-eat. That's what we did! Just one person enjoyed the buffet while us two ladies split a light dish. Only paper menu is given, I guess their main focus is the buffet. We're checked on multiple times throughout our meal which shows their care. You won't miss this restaurant if strolling on Main St. in Cody. I want to start by saying this review does not reflect on our week stay in Cody, we have LOVED our time here. We typically eat 1 to 2 meals a day at local establishments while traveling and dinner yesterday was at China Town Buffet. I kid you not when I say "EVERY" buffet selection we tried (too include the rice) was terrible. White steamed rice is one of the few things our 6 yr old granddaughter will eat, so needless to say we have Chinese at least once a week at home or on the road. It was almost as if China Buffet purposely ruined the food they were putting out (crazy). The only thing I could finish more than a couple bites of on my 3rd trip from the buffet was the banana pudding that I'm sure came from a can and couldn't be screwed up. We had a discussion on our way out of the restaurant with a couple that had the same reaction as we did, so I decided to write this review. read more

Read the reviews and was hesitant to try this place. So happy that we did! We dropped in and placed an order to go. I wasnt hungry so we ordered chicken fried rice and the wonton soup. The wonton soup was flavorful and had 2 delicious wontons in it. It was piping hot and it warmed me up. The fried rice is perfect for two people. The lady that took our order was very friendly and we waited about 10 minutes and we were on our way. Support local businesses and check this place out if you are in the mood for chinese food. This place is a hidden gem!!!!! We are from Chicago where Chinese buffets are everywhere. Needless to say, I wasn't expecting much. I was so pleasantly surprised that this place was so good. The service was A+, the cleanliness was perfection, and the food was phenomenal. Everything was hot and fresh. I love my broccoli on the raw side with crunch and I was lucky enough to be in line when they filled the beef with broccoli bin. Yum Yum! First chinese buffet I've been to that has native American art and portraits inside. They have wood paneling everywhere. It's a smallish buffet area but fits the size of the town. Chicken on a stick is good. Egg rolls are good and not as soggy as many other places. Pork and green beans were a bit too salty, reduce the amount of soy sauce please. Smoked pork was better than expected. Lo mein needs some work, it's just noodles with oil; could have some veggies and other flavor. Pork dumplings weren't terrible but could be crispier. They are a Pepsi shop but the iced tea is hot oolong tea that's been chilled. It's very very good. I think I crushed 4 glasses. read more

An older restaurant so there is the obvious wear and tear of the building inside and out but it's clean which can't be said about a lot of older restaurants. I was able to look at the buffet while waiting for my to go order and I have to say as buffets go this one was pretty nice, clean and smelled amazing. Everyone was helpful and asked if I need anything while I waited. As for our actual order it was delicious and if I lived in this area it would be a regular. Sweet and Sour Chicken was very tasty.
