The food was outstanding and huge portions. I had the pulled pork and my husband had the brisket and ribs. I would definitely return.

This was serious barbeque. I lived in KC for years and have tried some of greats in Memphis, Carolinas, and Texas and Michael has nailed it here in Cody. We stopped here twice while in Cody. We tried pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. They are all great but I think the pork and the ribs were both standouts. Michael is a super nice guy too. Amazing food! The meat tasted great and great quality. The pulled pork sandwich is amazing the quality and the taste of it is great. They don't drench them sand which in bbq sauce. You get to pour how much u want. The nachos are also amazing and so is the loaded potato. The coleslaw and potato salad has great flavor. After watching the shoot out in downtown Cody, we hoofed our way over to Fat Racks BBQ. We arrived ten minutes before closing. They had a sign saying they were closed because they had sold out! Not to be deterred, I poked my head in and asked if they had anything left. They had some pulled pork, slaw, beans, and potato salad. We ordered 4lbs of pork, a pint of slaw and potatoes for our group of ten. While we waited I picked up a couple cold ones from the Libations package store across the street. What a great BBQ place this is! My wife and I both ordered pulled pork sandwiches with aside of coleslaw. Both sandwiches (small and large) were loaded with moist and tasty meat. the buns were fresh and just the right size. We prefer a fine chopped coleslaw and Fat Rack's, even though it is a coarser chopped slaw was without a doubt the best we've had in a long time. They offer a choice of two sauces, original and spicy. Original has a slight smoke taste and goes real well with the pulled pork. The other is a vinegar based sauce that was exceptional. We combined them on our sandwiches. Some observations: limited indoor seating but they do have some outdoor picnic tables for use. They have a good selection of drinks in a cooler ranging from sodas, teas to bottled water. Downside of this is no free refills. Not sure if it was just a disconnect when I ordered but we were dining in and the meals were served in a to-go bag. Not a big deal but a plate would have been better. A great low key place, we had the ribs and brisket. All tasted great and the man who smokes the meat (owner?) is very personable and pleasant to talk to. We were wanting to have BBQ and found this small but amazing BBQ place, we are from Oklahoma and noticed they were from a small town not too far from the Oklahoma and Texas border, Denton,TX. Ok let me address the fact I'm from BBQ country! Oklahoma,Kansas, Texas! So those that rated this place as 5 stars have not eaten real BBQ or even know great BBQ when they taste it! This ain't it folks! Move on! Pass! The meat had little to NO smoke flavor at all !!! Period!!! The meat was on the dry side compared to great BBQ meat as it should be. I'm gonna go out on a limb here but a short one I believe in all fairness and say they use an electric smoker!!! Wtf!!! I'll give the sauce an ok as that's more personal choice than anything else here. I happen to like sweet and it was so it was ok. Now as for their beans they were just that! Not bbq beans just damn beans! Wtf! Who does that w BBQ??? I asked if I could taste them before hand and was rudely told NO! Should have taken that as a sign and left! As for their cole slaw I have to honestly say with no exaggeration it was the absolute worst most tasteless crap I've ever had! Not sweet not anything just tasteless. Looked like a good stop but would not recommend. The beef brisket was very bland and the potato salad had no flavor and probably came from Walmart. Overpriced and not worth the stop. read more
