Found myself visiting Ashland Ky and the hotel desk clerk suggested Fat Patty's for a good hamburger. Walked across the street and was seated fairly quickly near a TV. The server was super friendly and quickly took my drink order. After looking at the menu, I decided on the Lasso Patty. The burger and fries arrived hot and fresh off the grill. It's was more than I could eat but the ham, bacon, BBQ, and burger combo was much better than expected. The fries were hot and crispy and tasted just right without any salt. Overall, the service and food were great. The price was unbeatable! I will visit again for sure. read more

My wife and I had the avocado bacon cheeseburger, my wife ordered tater tots, and I had the fries. My wife found a hair in the tots and couldn't eat them. The burger patties did not taste or look like hamburger, I immediately thought the patties were something other than beef. The food was not good, the service was poor and the restaurant was dirty. We met friends here for lunch on a weekday, there was only about three tables occupied when we arrived. The waitress took our order in a timely manner and was friendly. Our food came out fairly quick but, my food got dropped in the floor just as our orders got to the table. Things happen and I understand that, but I sat and watched everyone else eat. There were six in our group and everyone said their food was cold or luke warm at best. One of the group got onion rings and she said that they were so cold she couldn't eat them. She complained to the waitress and she recooked her order. When I finally got my food my burger was really good and hot but my fries were cold. I ate my burger but didn't have any of the fries because they were so cold they weren't fit to eat. I thought after the issues a manager might come by and check on us or offer to take some off of the check but that didn't happen. Our entire group was pretty disappointed in our meal. It would have been a different story had they been busy and everyone was taking care of tables and the kitchen staff were preparing orders but there were literally only three other tables occupied. On a recent business trip, I walked across the street from the hotel to try this place out for a later dinner midweek I got in about 7:30PM, and the place was pretty busy with families and couples, but it was getting quieter as the time passed I went with the Bayou Patty - good flavor, not what I call spicy, but it was a bit sloppy as the cheese/peppers on the top of the burger, and the tomatoes and lettuce on the bottom of the burger allowed the patty to side around the bun. I am taking 1 star away for the tator-tots side, it was under 15 tots, and we aren't talking a home made tot, we are talking about a open a bag out of the freezer and pour them in the fryer - so that seem light In general, I would likely stop by if I was in the area - but it wouldn't be why I was visiting the area read more

Really great food at Fat Patty's. We had Jalapeño Poppers the good kind with cream cheese. Pretzel Sticks were great with Queso and just the right amout of salt. Cousins got Taco Salad which were a bit messy and more like nachos with a little lettuce. Cheese burger and chips another cousin got looked great. My All American Club was very tasty. I was afraid of the beer batter fries but they had zero beer taste which I prefer. Another cousin got the Lava Cake which she did not share. So I assume it was good. The food was good . Once the food arrived and the manager came around asking how was the meal, we pointed out the issue and he did make it right but acted bothered by our request. However it got even worse, once the we asked about military discount the waitress went to ask the on duty manager but returned only to say he wouldn't offer it, mainly because he didn't want to come out of the kitchen. The waitress was very polite but seemed embarrassed to tell us he would offer it. So there may or may not be a set policy concerning military discount. Best of luck! read more

This place was ok. It's located right across from the big Marriott downtown. It's actually a pretty nice little place. I was impressed with the interior and it seemed to be relatively busy. My coworker got a burger and said it wasn't the worst thing he has ever had. But that's not exactly a ringing endorsement. Hah I had the half priced boneless wings in bbq. They weren't terrible but they weren't very big. It was enough to hold me over though. So I guess technically what lunch is for. Oh! And for future reference, the order of boneless wings is 10 wings. They have specials on Sunday through Thursday and to be honest, the wing deal kind of rocked because my lunch was like under $4. Let me edit this to say we go to Fat Patty's several times a year and this is not the normal service that we receive. I do think some of the issues were due to the festival going on. There is a difference between being busy and service being slow and what we received that day. Went today during Poage's Landing Festival. We went in and was seated immediately. Waited 15 minutes for a server to come to the table. A guy finally stopped and asked if we had been helped yet. He went to get our drink orders and a manager came over and apologized for no one coming over yet, they had been busy when we arrived. I said it wasn't a big deal and the waiter (I don't believe he was supposed to be our waiter) brought our drinks. He took our food order and all was good. A little while later he came over and apologized and said our food should be right out. 5-10 minutes later he delivered our food but said that they were making fresh fries and they should be out for my wife's order in about 2 minutes. We began eating and everything was fine, except my wife's fries never came out, he never came back to check on the fries, refill our drinks or anything else. After we finished eating he came over and before he even got to the table he apologized again. This time I wasn't as nice. I told him it doesn't do any good to apologize if you are never going to do anything to make it better. I told him that they never brought the fries to just remove them from the check and bring it to us. I didn't ask but He went and got another manager. The manager came over and said that he was told that there was a problem with our food. I said no not just the food the entire experience was F###ked. I told him that we had waited for 15 minuets while people walked by us, that my wife's fries never came out like the were supposed to. That we couldn't even get a drink refill because he never even came back after he gave our food. The manager apologized again. I told him it does no good to apologize if you are not doing anything to make it better. He asked what he could do I said nothing. Just bring the check and it's over. He apologized again and left. The waiter brought our check and I told him I wasn't mad at him, I knew that he had been busy and thanked him for at least acknowledging that we were sitting here and stopping to check on us. Which was more then the woman that walked past us about 20 times in the 15 minutes we waited did, and her table was about 4 feet from our. He then ran away, without leaving a pen to sign the check. Before I could get his attention to get a pen the first manager came back and apologized again and I told him the same thing. He said that he was going to comp our meal which I told him I didn't want him to I just needed a pen to sign and we could be on our way. We went back and forth several times about the payment and I finally gave in. Let me say I didn't not ever ask to speak to a manager nor did I ask for our meal to be comped. I just wanted to pay and leave. In the end I left the waiter a 20% tip, even though it wasn't the best service I don't think we were supposed to be his table to begin with. I may have over reacted (my wife said I did). But if you are apologizing for something while you are walking to the table you know that you f###ed up. What kills me is that every single table around us was getting excellent service the whole time we were there. The table that sat down beside us literally had someone there getting their drink order before their but hit the seat. I'm not sure if we will go back or not. Had a great time at Fat Patty's last PM. We're just in town for one overnight and needed to find a place for dinner. Had checked Yelp for recommendations and (how could you not?) noticed the Fat Patty's name. Then we had a chat with a local...who didn't just recommend Fat Patty's; she *raved* about it! Said she and her family have dinner there at least once a week! So glad we took her advice! On these short trips, we make it a priority to seek out locally owned, potentially quirky restaurants to add to our experience, and Fat Patty's certainly fits that description! Food was great, service was flawless, the menu prices were crazy-reasonable (a domestic draft and a Pretzel Burger for about $11); the menu is broader than you might expect (grilled salmon is on the menu) and the vibe is friendly, accommodating, and totally relaxed. If it weren't hundreds of miles from my home, I might consider becoming a regular here, myself! read more

Don't come here if you are looking for fun. It's a Saturday night in Ashland... huge concert with tons of paying party time customers. After the show everyone wants to keep the party going, tie one on and get wild. Nope... not allowed. With almost no options to walk to after the show, we enter here with 12 other people only to be shut down and chased out. AT 10 pm!!!!! This place would not except our money and we would have dropped A LOT! Guess the bartenders hate tips and the owners hate profits. It was a disturbingly foolish decision to not allow us at 10pm to drink in their bar. If there ever was the opportunity to make up lost lost revenue from the pandemic... this was it... and they blew it. Terrible. read more

Waited over an hour to get a salad and appetizer. Would hate to think how long it would have been to get an entree. Ordered chips, salsa, and queso as a starter and never got it, but our server tried to charge us for it. This was a great place to come in 2013 before it changed ownership. Fat Patty's is a pretty mellow restaurant. During my visit, it was around lunch time which you would think would be a very busy time, but it wasn't too busy. The service was great though, our waiter was extremely helpful. Gave recommendations on food offerings and was quick on the orders. Drinks were always topped off without having to ask. I'd give the food an 8 out of 10 and only because my fries had a taste of onion rings as if they were using the same grease. It wasn't too bad, just didn't expect it and could've asked for a different side but the entree didn't need a side :) My burger was excellent there wasn't any dry spots nor was the bread soggy. I was able to eat the burger without everything falling out and creating a mess. All in all, Fat Patty's was a very good restaurant and I would recommend it for anyone looking for the small bar type setting. read more

I'm in Ashland every other week and this is a spot I frequent and it has yet to disappoint! The burgers are big and juicy the boneless wings have that good crunch even though they are dipped in sauce. They were extremely slow with the service today and it was almost empty along with the ice cold sweet potato fries is my only reason for not rating higher. I asked my waitress were they killing the cow for my burger in the back it took so long. The taste of the food made me forget how long we had to wait lol. THIS IS SOME GOOD STUFF! That caramel sauce is a must try at least once. read more

Traveling through the city on a Saturday night. We were hungry & lo and behold we saw a sign saying "Fat Patty's" so with a quick chuckle and an agreement on this is the spot, we found a place to park on the street and headed on in. It looked busy and looking over at the bar to see a couple seats we sat there. Noticed two lady bartenders working diligently to handle a full bar plus any drinks needs at the many restaurant tables as well but we were acknowledged within several minutes and able to give her our drink order. She tended to a couple other chores right afterwards but remembered my large Guinness draft beer which she poured then gave to me. She moved on to doing several other things for several minutes then realized my friend needed his soda. She prepared it and while serving it I found a good moment to ask her for menus. She got them and now we were able to decide what we wanted to eat. She came back shortly and got our order then keyed it in. We asked for buffalo dip along with a black n blue burger & a ruben sandwich. The food came out pretty darn quick - I'd say in 10 minutes - but at some point I knew this was going to happen which it did... the buffalo did that should have been served first never made it. The bartender was sort of around when a guy food runner came out to deliver the food and she said 'the buffalo dip needs to be served first' which by that time it was too late yet she knew the issue. I told the food runner who now was queued in to the problem that it's fine and just cancel it. I guess he did for it never came or maybe he didn't and it was just overlooked. Now I got to say that my black n blue burger was very well spiced to the point that I even commented that fact to my friend. Usually I'm disappointed by lack of blackened seasoning. However I must say I was unhappy with the hamburger patty being a premade burger coming off the Sysco Food truck. After all, the place is called FAT PATTY'S so I was expecting an in-house made burger. It was eatable but truth be told if I ever go here again I would not order a burger. The potato chips and pickle were good. Another note... they got Hunts mustard but not Hunts ketchup. You may say 'so what. Now you're being picky' but cheap ketchup can ruin a burger. So I just think the place can get overwhelmed and then the quality of service as well as standards might be lost in the whirlwind of busyness. Everyone was polite and working their tails off so it's hard to really criticize the staff. I think the onus falls on management to keep all the ships afloat and things running perfectly. Maybe have another bartender doing drinks exclusively for tables? Have a window expediter making sure appetizers come out quickly and before main dishes do? You know... those fine tuned things that always seem to go out the door when the place gets busy. We did have a nice time albeit eating a once frozen prepared in a huge food factory hamburger patty. read more

This was my second visit to Fat Patty's and won't be my last. My husband and I were cruising in the convertible and decided to make a day trip to Ashland. We arrived for lunch and decided to sit on the outside. Thought the patio was fine, it was small and a little junky. It needs somewhat of a facelift but was clean and the good temperatures made it pleasant. We had the appetizer of chips with salsa and queso. The salsa is made onsite and was wonderful. Almost as good as mine. The queso was good as well. The chips were a little tough, but OK, especially with the dip. I ordered the Black and Bleau Burger, well done, with fries. If you like bleu cheese, this is for you. It has enough to satisfy any cheese lover. Their fries are beer batter dipped and a must if you eat here. My husband ordered the Reubin Sandwich with onion rings. He said it was one of the best Reubin Sandwiches he has ever had, which is quite a compliment coming from him. He is never satisfied with a meal. The waitress was very courteous and attentive and I really enjoyed being served by her. We will definitely be back. read more
