Food was not as great as when they first opened. Onion rings were a bit bland and spasagna was greasy, but nostalgic. Great service by Christian!! We had a party of 10 including kids, so we were needier than just a party of adults. But our server Christian was so sweet and attentive. I asked if they still sing Happy birthday (mine!) and they don't but they gave me a HUGE slice. Enough for everyone to try a bite! The food was served hot and delicious. Fries were so tasty, as were the chicken tenders. Husband said his steak over cooked a bit and his rice undercooked, but still enjoyed his food. A wonderful visit! read more

Every single thing we ordered was diagusting. None of it was hot or had any flavor. After waiting over an hour to get our food. Mind you it was slow & very few people around us. Have gone to this locations for years, its been slow before, but food was always good, service was ok. 1/26/25, SUNDAY 11:00, not real busy, slow getting a server, server was attentive throughout. Ordered a sandwich, specified what I didn't want on it, 30 minutes later it finally came out. Sandwich had ALL menu items on it, server said she'd have them take the items off, I said I'd prefer they made a new sandwich the way I ordered it.(No peppers, or mushrooms) 45 more minutes I finally got it. Correct food, was good. I had walked in at 11:00, finally left 12:25. Tonight 2/1/25 I thought I'd just call it in and go pick it up. 5:30 they answered the phone, put me on hold, minutes went by, I figured he forgot me, called back , same thing, waited longer. finally hung up, called again, got a lady this time. told her the issue, she said I should probably have you talk to the manager. 10 minutes later he picked up, told him the issue, he said he'd put me back to the 1 guy doing carryouts (he wouldn't even take the order himself!!!), I said forget it, I'll eat elsewhere, and hung up. Good food, I can't say great, if you can get it.. Sorry, it'll be a good while before I go there again, Chili's is getting my money! Service was beyond slow honestly kind of ridiculous. The broccoli and cheese tasted as if the cheese was out of a dispenser and looked as if it was sitting for forever. The strawberry "puree" looked like water and tasted sour. Overall relatively cheap I suppose. read more

When Cheddar's first came to the Ashland area it was one of my favorite restaurants to visit. After they had been here a while they were bought out by Darden Group, the menu changed and so did the food. They have dropped many of my favorite items on the menu and the big one is they have discontinued having their onion rings. The onion rings at Cheddar's were epic, and if you went most every table ordered them. The service is hit and miss and the food is just average in my opinion. The dining are is pretty nice and it seems clean. The thing with Cheddar's is for the price there are a lot of restaurants in the immediate area that give you more bang for your buck. read more

The service was absolutely horrendous. We wanted to sit outside which seemed appropriate for the evening. Arriving at 9:50pm, it was surprising to us that nobody greeted us at the front area but waited 10 min before being sat by a girl who had quite the attitude of having to do that task. We were then sat on the patio where there were 6 waiters outside smoking on the patio and 2 waiters sitting at the bar in uniform on their phones. After waiting 20 minutes I called the restaurant and asked for a manager who said she would be out to speak with us. We waited another 5 minutes and a waitress walked by and asked if we had been helped. The bartender, and the waitress came out and asked if we spoke to the manager and informed us that everything would be comped and the manager would take care of the entire bill. The manager, which never introduced herself or mentioned any type of discount was rude like the prior waitstaff and walked off unapologetically. The waitress which ended up being nice informed us to order whatever we wanted and that we could even get alcoholic beverages to go when we were ready, as the bartender agreed. The rude manager came to the table and said she was sorry as she walked by and messed with an umbrella. At this point, we didn't want to be there. Somehow we were the bad guys for coming and dining at a place that is usually pretty well staffed and managed. Apparently, this manager couldn't control the restaurant, staff, customers or food. I guess when Cheddars closes at 11, you better get there by 8pm. The waitress brought our bill which was supposed to be comped. To our surprise the manager took 12% off the bill. After being coerced into upsells, alcoholic beverages, appetizers, specialty items, and dessert as well as alcohol to go that was confirmed by the manager, we quickly realized that 100% meant that we were being tricked into driving up food costs. Helping a inadequately ran, poorly managed, under appreciative and subpar establishment was how we were bait and switched into somehow not reporting or mentioning that I would not bring anyone to this restaurant with the current leadership that they have. The meal was good but I would never endure being treated like I was doing something wrong to hopefully enjoy a 1-year anniversary with my girlfriend. It is sad that it is normal to come to Cheddars and it is ok to be rude, nonprofessional, unprepared, lie to customers, trick people and not even wait on them until they call the manager twice from the patio and the manager become combative and defensive during the process. read more

My Sister and I stopped in for a bite after a few hours of Christmas shopping. I started off with the Island Tiki which included Captain Morgan Spiced and Malibu rums infused with tropical mango puree, pineapple juice and with a splash of blue curacao garnished with a fresh pineapple. Yummy! It was pretty sweet but I liked it. And then came the warm croissants with honey butter. One of my favorites at Cheddar's! They melt in your mouth. I ordered a cup of the potato soup which was pretty tasty. It was creamy and the bacon added a nice flavor. My cheese steak was just ok. It was not served with any condiment and lacked flavor. I requested a side of mayo after my sandwich arrived. Our server was friendly but slow. My sandwich was nearly cold by the time the mayo arrived and I had to ask for silverware and napkins as well as the check a few times. I may check out this location again but I will not be ordering the cheese steak. read more

Came here after a long day at Pumpkin festival because it usually a good experience. It is also good for my wife and mother in law because they are picky eaters. The waitress took our drink order we asked for butter for crescents that we didn't get. My wife ordered the chicken and is came out and looked a little pink. Waitress said nothing she could do and then used her flashlight to show us chicken. She said if we sent it back it would have to be the whole plate and they would just reheat the undercooked tenders. So my wife just ate her potatoes. I got the chicken tenders and shrimp it was gross worst experience I have ever had there and I have been there a dozen times. My family and I decided to come here for lunch this past weekend. We walked in and were told it would be a 20 minute wait, no big deal. We sat and waited for a table. When we were finally seated, we were shoved in a corner spot with probably 10 other tables in the section. We waited for 30 minutes and didn't even get waited on. No drinks, nothing. In total, we waited nearly an hour for nothing. We got up and left and took our business elsewhere. We informed the manager and she did offer to seat us but at this point we were beyond hungry and In no business to wait another hour to possibly be seated and be ignored once again. The hostess stand people were "ok", but seemed more interested in chatting with each other than prepping our reserved table that wasn't ready upon our arrival. I had eaten at the Cheddar's in Lexington and really liked the food there, so when my husband and I found ourselves looking for lunch in Ashland, we chose Cheddar's. It was just before lunch, and it was still pretty quiet. I ordered the chicken tenders and fries. My husband ordered the philly steak and cheese sandwich. It took about 30 minutes to get our meal, which I thought was a long time for the amount of people in the restaurant. My husband did not like his sandwich at all. The bread was so hard on the ends that he had to tear it apart to eat it. He said that the meat had no flavor to it. My chicken tenders were good but the fries were not very hot. They tasted like they had set for a while. I still like Cheddar's, but I probably will stick with the one in Lexington when I want to eat there. read more

By far the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We have attempted to eat here on 3 separate occasions over the course of 8 months. The last experience was the straw the broke the camels back. We waited for over an hour for food. When it arrived they didn't bring my food. I was then informed they were out of the dish I had ordered so it was never put in. I was told I could order something else and they would put a rush on it. 45 minutes later when my family is finished and well overdue to leave I finally got my meal. The waitress finally came in from her smoke break outside to check and by the time I got my food it was cold. The party next to us didn't even see a waitress after being seated for over 30 minutes. This place is very poorly managed and the service is the worst I've ever seen. This wasn't just one experience on a busy night. We have consistently had terrible experiences at this restaurant. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here for a meal. read more

First and last time at a Cheddars. (I don't do chains by rule, but this was a group decision.) Wasn't too hungry, so ordered a soup and onion rings. I can't even remember the soup, because the night was dominated by the onion rings - a tower of about 20 of them. Nowhere did it say that the appetizer was enough for 4 people. Now, usually, I'm a huge fan of providing way too much food for the money, but these were not good onion rings. The "breading" was limp and soggy, with no color, and it was abundantly clear that these are the frozen variety, sitting in the back for weeks until some poor sap orders them. I'd rather have just eaten the onion. You will say, one appetizer isn't enough to judge a place, and you're right. But other people ordered other dishes. This is basically another Applebee's type restaurant, and so 2-3 stars is really all I'm going to give for that. I could also point to the pitiful beer selection - although one does not usually come to a place like this for beer. What bugs me, though, is the number of 4 and 5 star reviews. Is this really the best place Ashland has to offer? Fat Patty's was certainly better, and that's the only other place I've even tried. read more
