There is often an hour or more wait to eat here and I've never understood why. Other than being large with lots of options, the menu is nothing special. It isn't a terrible place to eat but it's on par with Applebee's or Ruby Tuesday. Even if everything is really made in-house, quality is what you'd expect from a chain. We have been to Cheddar's here and in different states several times and have always had great service. One reason for choosing them as they have a large menu and everyone can find something they like. This meal took over 2 hours to complete. There was 9 people in our party and we had called in and told we would have a table. We still had to wait over half hour for a table. We went to our table our waiter set us and we waited a long time for our drink order to be takes. Then there was a long wait for our drinks. After a half hour we finally got to order our food. After many promises our food was the next order up it did finally did arrive over a 20 minute wait. It took 10 minutes for everyones meal to come to the table. After eating we need some boxes for food and another 20+ unite wait. Finally one of our party got up and went to see the manager. He came and apologized for the service which was nice. A big plus for me. Then he discounted the bill a even greater plus. The manager really wants you to have a good meal and good service. Would I eat there again and that is a yes. I know at times there may be problems and I don't know what they were on the day we visited. With the service I have had at Cheddar's we will visit next time we are in the area. read more

Wow.... I'm actually blown away at the terrible service and even worse food that I had while here!! I ordered the salmon. It was so dry. And then it was hard! The rice was hard. Then he comes back and hands us our check. Literally says nothing and we look at our check and he charged us for our salads and beer. The managers name is Eric. If that's what you want to call him. It appears he's nothing more than a busser with a button up on with the title. He literally had ZERO professionalism. Apologized for nothing. Didn't try to resolve any of it. And handed us our check. I am pretty blown away by the terrible service I received, Eric's managerial skills, or lack there of, outshines the crap serviced I received from kelly as well. Cheddars sucks. So, all the negative reviews of Cheddars were filtered out. But, after reading them and comparing to my experience, I'd have to agree with them. We wanted a family place to take my entire clan for dinner Saturday night. There were 12 people -- 8 adults and 4 kids. We waited an hour to be seated (understandable for a busy Saturday night and our large group). From the moment we were called to the hostess stand forward, it was a comedy (well, not that funny) of error after error. To start, we were not seated together. We were seated at two booths back-to-back. As we approached the booth, we were held in the middle of a busy aisle as they had not finished clearing the table from the last party. In fact, it appeared that they'd barely started. Several times we were bumped and excused as we stood there for 3 solid minutes waiting for the table to be cleared. Upon sitting down, it just got worse. The waitress was scatterbrained. She forgot the kids drinks for nearly 10 minutes. She disappeared for LONG stretches as drinks were going empty. The appetizers were finished when she stopped by to say she was going to tell them to start the salads. We weren't even at the mains, yet. By the time the mains came, steaks were overcooked. My brother, who asked for medium, got a piece of shoe leather disguised as a steak. My sister-in-law also got a piece of shoe leather, but she probably asked for well done. Even for well done, it was overcooked and tough. Both were inedible. My meal was good -- I had chicken fried chicken, but inexplicably, they ran out of mashed potatoes at 8 on a Saturday. My mashers were missing. Only after I inquired, did I find out they didn't have any and needed to select a substitution. Those were some of the most egregious problems. I was led to believe the place was family friendly, but I wouldn't take my family there. The waitress never felt attentive even talking to us several times while passing by and not even slowing down. Love this place! It's is definitely one of my favorite places to eat. The chicken fingers here are out of this world. Also, the honey mustard grilled chicken can't be beat. Everything here from the fruit teas to the french fries are absolutely great. The servers and staff here are extremely friendly, courteous, and kind. They always go out of their way to help you. Our party of seven just left the restaurant. We waited at our table for over an hour and a half for our meal. One of the steaks had to go back because it was cold and never reappeared so one person in our party actually did not even get to eat. This was the worst experience at a restaurant that I've ever had. Our waiter was good but someone dropped the ball badly. When the manager came to our table we explained the experience we had had and when the steak had to go back he should have made sure that that plate got returned to our table as soon as it was ready. Worst place I've ever eaten. The servers were rude and seemed like they just wanted us to leave so they could move on to the next thing. Took 30 minutes to get our order taken and another 30 to get the food. The Alfredo sauce just tasted like milk and the noodles were overcooked to the point of being a paste. The grilled chicken in the salad was alright, but the tomatoes were gray and the cheese tasted off. This place is mediocre at best. They're food just simply has no flavour. None. I ordered the chicken alfredo once and I was completely taken aback by how flavourless it was. Mind you, alfredo sauce isn't very strong anyway, but this tasted like a paste made of flour and water. They're was NOTHING to it. The chicken was dry as well. I've also gotten the chicken tinders and they tasted like fried catfish. I wanted chicken, not sea food. My husband and I loove cheddars!! When cheddars first opened up here in my hometown I honestly did not like it, but after a couple of years and a change of their menu it is now one of my favorite restaurants in ashland. They have a very wide variety of dishes for anyone and everyone. It's great to order to go to take home or to meet up with friends or family. If you have never been to cheddars BE SURE to try their butter croissants!!! Best croissants ever!!! And they put this sweet melted butter on top of them! Not a bad meal. We have traveled to Ashland twice for my husbands work and eaten here twice. I got the same salad both times and it was good the first time and just okay the next. It was the cranberry pecan chicken salad thing. The first time it was good, the second time the chicken was too blackened and had a weird smokey flavor that didn't mesh with everything else. Both times we ordered edimome for an appetizer and that was fantastic! I had a bite of my daughter's cheese burger and that was very good! I have tried a lot of things here and I'm sad to say that all of it was terrible. Everytime I had people with me, they all hated their food except one time my uncle, who likes literally everything, liked it. I will say the cheese curds are way better than cheese sticks. But what made everyone I know quit wanting to go was the fact you quit serving the chocolate cake. Bad move. The only thing on your menu that's really good and you take it off the menu. Lol. I had 2 servers at one time, the 3rd time I went, that was sooo high that they messed up literally everything. I couldn't even find them for 15 minutes. They were also a couple, which she strangely told me for no apparent reason...like she was afraid that I was going to flirt with him or something lol. The final straw was last night I ordered a steak there bcuz everything else was closed. I never get to go out to eat anymore or get steak. I was soo excited. Spent money that I really needed. It was inedible. It tasted like it had been marinated in nothing but oregano...just offensive tasting. I let my very easygoing fiance try it to see if he wanted it. He couldn't eat it either and he definitely is not picky. And the pile of nasty spices on top also tasted like a pile of oregano and seasoning salt ...not a good taste. Ok so look I love this restaurant. I think there food is amazing but come on, I asked 7 TIMES for ranch 7 times come on. How hard is it to put ranch in a cup and bring it to a table. It was so slow.
