I hate to write a negative review for anywhere but this place currently needs a new cook. The fish and chips were way over fried and the coleslaw had the consistency of grits. The potato soup was so cheesy and salty. It was not good. The menu is small which made us think they did these things really well. No. The bartenders were okay. Not their fault they are working with things that are broken while the owner/manager yells out demands about cleaning a table and such across a sparse room of patrons. We won't return. Unfortunate since the place has great ambience and decor.

Our waiter, a Marshall…read morestudent, was very polite and patient with us and both the restaurant and the restrooms were very clean. We did not have to wait a long time for our food at all and once we got our food I was very impressed! The burger was big and juicy and you could tell how fresh it was from the taste. The fries were perfectly crispy and golden. If I'm in Huntington again, I'm definitely coming back!

My companion, who is white, was confused by the question because it's not typically asked of privileged folks. I quickly realized that my presence as a Black woman in an all-white restaurant was the likely reason for the unusual and uncomfortable treatment. We were then seated in the very back of the restaurant, past the main dining area and into the bar section. I understand seating can depend on waiter availability, but as a Black person in America, I am all too familiar with being placed in the "back" and decided to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt. After all, I love the Ashland, Kentucky location. Unfortunately, on this second visit, I was once again seated in the back--this time at least in the dining area. The experience did not improve. Unlike my first visit, where the food was at least hot and flavorful, this time the food was the worst I've had from this chain, both in taste and temperature. If you are Black, I strongly suggest avoiding this location. The treatment and quality here do not compare to the Ashland, Kentucky restaurant and left me deeply disappointed.

Walking into the pub and heading to the back room where the bar is, it was hard not to reminisce of my time spent in Ireland. The restaurant has a vintage Irish pub decor and a friendly atmosphere. The perfect place to go spend time with family and friends. We sat at the bar and our bartender (Sandy) was absolutely fantastic! She was accommodating, humorous, and just made you feel like you were apart of her family. She made a really great Moscow Mule and a tasty version of a Long Island iced tea I've never had before. I hope to go again soon to try some more food varieties, but on this stop, I had the shepherds pie and was able to try some of the hummus and pita bread. Both I highly recommend and worth giving it a go. I look forward to my next visit! Stop on by and give Port city pub some love.

They have a pretty good sized menu with enough choices to suit most anyone. I had the fish and chips, the fish was fried crisp and was tender, mild and flaky. Our server was excellent, he checked back often to see if we needed anything or to make sure our food was good. There was live music that was starting as we got seated, the performer was very good. The restaurant seemed clean and it was big enough to be comfortable and not too big so it was sort of a cozy dining experience. I will definitely stop in again if I'm at the right place and the right time!!

One friend ordered a Caesar salad with chicken and got a fruity vinaigrette instead. Another friend ordered a burger and they forgot the bacon. A third friend asked for his burger well-done, but it came out medium, also with no bacon. When he asked the server if it looked well-done, she said she didn't know what well-done looks like. He asked if she could get a new one so he wouldn't get sick, and she said she'd check with the kitchen. No apology. It took 25 minutes for the new burger to come out, and by then we had been there for over an hour and a half. When she finally brought it out, she asked if he wanted a box to take it home. Still no bacon on the burger. Also, no apology again. Overall, not a great experience. Will not be back.

The wrap-around bar gives it a welcoming, communal feel--perfect for grabbing a seat solo or catching up with friends. The beer selection is limited, but what they do have is decent, albeit a little on the heavier side. It's the kind of place where you don't need a massive tap list--just a few good options done right. What really surprised me were the wings. Locally sourced and noticeably larger than your average bar wings, they were absolutely packed with flavor--easily some of the best I've ever had. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, with the perfect amount of dry rub. Worth the visit for those alone. If you're looking for a relaxed spot with great food, good beer, and a neighborhood-pub kind of feel, this place delivers.
