Before I took my car in, I had an idea what my engine service light means through my car code scanner. But I'm not a mechanic and I don't know how accurate my scanner is and how much I can trust it. I took the car to George. His son Joe took care of me. Very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and understanding. He called me later when they had time to check my car out and told me the problem my car is having which is totally in-line with the scanner. (They did not know I had scanned the code already). They found a leak in a hose that would explain the failure code. They recommended to replace it and see if the code would go away, and to make sure no other problems were hidden behind that. They did not find additional problem. So, they only charged me for replacing the hose and a dirty air filter. The conclusion is: they know what they are doing and they did not try to sell me something that I don't need. They are honest, experienced, and knowledgeable. I believe this is a family business. Their passions and experience about auto repair is clearly evidenced. Yes, they charge 3% credit card fee. So, if you want to save a little, bring cash. To me, I am super happy that I found a auto shop for life !

Certificate is $115 (pass or fail they get your money No matter what, no retest like smog for free), so he tells me I need a glaze on my headlights for $150, and brake flush $150 because the dip stick shows it needs a flush. I know how dip stick testers work, it always says discard after x number of minutes. So I tell him that is not a valid read because it's over the acceptable readable time, read the bottle. He says "no worries, I will retest for you" he retests it for me and it clearly shows it's fine no brake flush needed. I tell him "see". He said to me "who has the license?! Whatever I say goes" lol. Got me there you criminal. Just like his response to Karen's post. He charges just enough to not make it worth going to another shop and lose out on the non Refundable inspection fee. I get you have to make a buck, but this guy is the very definition of "scam likely". Move along if you can.

I'll admit, I'm no car buff or mechanic but one thing I know is if I bring a car with no sensor lights on, I expect to pick it up the same way. Well after I picked it up, suddenly my TPMS, check engine and two other lights would come on with starting the car. Funny enough, when I picked it up, this place told me my car checked out fine. So of course, I bring it back (took about 2 trips for this) and the 2nd visit they tell me I had to change a few items which at that point was going to be another $1K ($800 and $170) which all this was told by phone. I told them no way in hell and seeing as I've already given them $1300 between this car and another (for maintenance) telling me this seemed very much like a sketchy racket just to up sell people. So I picked up my car an hour after this conversation at which I told them not to do anything else so I can get a 2nd opinion elsewhere. Sure enough, the sensor lights were off. It magically fixes itself just because I complained and wasn't willing to get upsold. There it is folks. Maybe try to have someone with you that knows more about cars if you want to bring it to this shop.

We were on our way back from the Monterey Bay Aquarium and our car started to overheat. When AAA came I just told them to take me to the closest place and it we ended up here. We had great experience and Alejandra was to person who helped us....really nice lady. Turns out my radiator has a leak because they checked and there was no coolant in the motor. I could not wait to have the radiator replaced or fix the leak because I had to get the kids home. So, they simply filled the coolant and ran the engine for a little bit. All was ok and safe to drive. I really hate it when mechanics are aggressive and try to force you to let them fix your car, so I was pleasantly surprised when Alejandra said it was not an emergency to repair it immediately, knowing that we live in san jose and would probably not come back. We made it home alright thanks to faster lube. Thank you very much for helping us and for not being pushy. read more

I'd like to say a BIG THANK YOU to FASTERLUBE!! More specifically to Tony and Ivan for getting my Jeep into the shop and done in a very timely manner. I was unfortunately involved in a fender bender just 1 week prior to a planned travel this Thanksgiving . I had a very timed dependent departure and Tony and his quality team finished my repairs in less than a week!!! Not to mention they did a beautiful job in restoring my Jeep back to normal. Lastly, I left my house keys in the rental car and needed them prior to checking out. Ivan was so accommodating and kind in helping me retrieve my keys from the rental car. A great business with great people happy to go the extra mile!! They had me informed very intact I highly recommend going to Fasterlube and continue coming back after on after my vist. Nice place to go for your automotive care , this place is extremely clean. The guys working there are excellent professionals and they know what they're doing. The cashiers working in the front are extremly friendly. Friendly service staff helped me right away I just pulled back and asked to make appointment but they take walk ins as well so right then and there. I got my car an oil change that came with a 17 point inspection and they told me my recommendations promptly. Professional behavior by all involved, I'll be back for sure! read more

I haven't ever made an appointmen, but always get service. A service person comes right up to your driver side window to review what your needs may be. Clean wait room. Good selection of magazines, not just golfing magazines. read more

After I picked my car up, I drove for 32 miles before I went over the hill to Santa Cruz. Once I was over the hill, my check engine light came on as well as my oil light. My oil indicator light has never come on since I bought this car new in 2016. There was not a drop of oil in my engine. I had to add almost 4 quarts to fill it up. Needless to say when I went in for an oil change, they forgot to put the oil back in. I called in immediately from Santa Cruz to let him know that my light came on and he automatically suggested that maybe I had a leak somewhere. I double triple checked everywhere under my car and there were no leaks not a single drop of oil leaking from my engine... when I got back into town, I immediately took my car back down to Payless to talk to Dan, and he still denied any wrongdoing insisting that I have an oil leak and that is where all the oil went had to keep an eye on it. Since then I have drove over 1500 miles and still not single drop of oil from my engine. I have offered him multiple opportunities to make this right by doing another oil change and a compression check on my engine to make sure that there was no damage done. I have received no response from him in any effort to make this right. I hate to leave a negative review because I actually really like Dan, but as a business owner myself, you have to be accountable for your mistakes. Had he just admitted that somehow it was overlooked and apologized, I would've gladly accepted and moved on. Unfortunately, now I need to worry about any damage that was done to my engine while it had no oil in it.
