With a subtle scent of vanilla gracing this smog test only star station, my state of California mandatory smog check felt more like a trip to the spa. I was greeted by a lovely staff member who allowed me to get my smog check late in the day before they closed. Most smog places are run-of-the-mill, greasy, smelly, not that fantastic, cheap, and easy. This was not my experience at TNT smog test only star station in Morgan Hill. I was referred here by my father-in-law, so I was really expecting a good experience... I couldn't even tell you about their service because I was never able to bring my vehicle in. The woman who answers their phones single handedly turns away any potential customers. First I called on a Friday around 230pm (8:30AM-5:00PM hours listed) , and asked what the latest time is they would take a vehicle. The woman said they take the last vehicle at 4:30. I got out of work early and called back around 3:50pm to confirm I could bring my vehicle in before 4:30, this time she said they close at 4:30 so she takes the last vehicle at 4. I told her the website says 5 and when I called earlier it was 5, and she gave me attitude and told me no (while smacking her gum, I could hear it over the phone). My husband tried calling, just to see what she would say, and she told him they were closing out 4 and had to take their last vehicle at 3:30. so I gave up and decided I'd try again on Saturday. When I called on Saturday, the woman was rude again and said they were busy and they weren't taking any customers. She said my car would take too long to smog and they couldn't do it. (mind you, my car is a 2020 Hyundai...) When I called back an hour later, she smacked her gum again and said they can't do it and hung up. After plenty of chances, I decided this wasn't the place for me. (My husband drove by on Saturday after my second call, and there were zero vehicles there.) read more

Let me just say that I hardly ever write reviews because I figured everyone has a bad day now and then, but there was just something wrong today with the way I was talk to. I called ahead to see if they could do a smog check for me. The woman answer the phone was very abrupt, but I figured she was just busy. I proceeded to come in the same day, and was greeted by a nice gentleman in the work bay. I went into the office to complete my paperwork. I believe it was the same woman I spoke with on the phone asked me for my registration paperwork to which I said I didn't have it because my address changed. She was quick to tell me she didn't care about my address change, but in a very condescending tone. I told her she didn't need to be so rude about it. But that I had my past registration and car information. She again then told me she wasn't being rude and she wasn't going to store any of my information. We exchanged a few other words and I told her I thought she was being rude, which is when she told me I can take my business elsewhere. Place is empty. Felt like I was interrupting something by the way she was talking to me. Plenty of other places in Morgan Hill to go to where I'm sure I won't be spoken to like that. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE.... I brought my car to them for a smog test and it had failed the test due to an air sensor problem. I paid the $40 and was told bring it back within 30 days and it will be $10 for the retest. I come back 2 weeks later and the place is closed with a sign saying "machine down", I come back the next day and it's closed again. I go away on business and return to bring my car for the retest (it is 32 days after my initial test), they tell me I had to pay for the full price for the smog test. I calmly explain that I did bring the car back within 30 days, twice actually, but your machine was down and you were closed. At this point the lady starts freaking out saying "that's a you problem and we will charge you full price". I ask to speak to the manager, I was told he's not here and we're not calling him. Maybe I'm naive thinking an exception would be granted - considering they were closed when I brought in the car within the 30 days, but the way this employee talked down to me and essentially kicked me out makes me not want to return. I ended up taking the car to another smog place and paid full price just out of principle. I will not be returning to this place in the future. read more

Nice folks and fast service, but pricing has exploded. In Feb they charged me $60 for my SUV and this week they asked for $120 with the argument that 'this vehicle (Sprinter van) was much larger". Well, it certainly is, but I cannot see how that matters in any way for the efforts on a smog check. I let them do it anyways, and it was fast and all good, but I'd be looking for other options in the future unfortunately. read more

It is on walk-in basis, I recently put a battery in my car so a portion failed and I had to drive around for 80 miles to retest. Utter incompetence ! I'm going to stick to only the facts for this review.  The reason for my review if to keep this place from damaging customer vehicles due to their lack of competence a poor customer service.  Let me start with the Fact that they did smog both of my cars four years ago for a bi-annual  inspection. I had no issues with the test. I actually felt the guy who did the test did a very good job. Fact: Both of my cars are full time four wheel drive (2003 Honda CR-V and 1978 Chevy K10). That means a dyno test cannot be performed or possible transmission or transfer case damage can occur. A dyno test is when the car is driven a rollers to simulate road driving and load. Most cars are two wheel drive and require a dyno test. Fact: How do I know this? I was a ASE certified master automobile technician and held a California smog license for 7 years (ask, I'll prove it). I went  today with my truck and they told me it would be ten minutes for my test. I took a quick drive with my son because he wanted to enjoy my truck a bit more. We returned in 15 minutes and waited another 15 minutes for my truck to get attention. No big deal, I'm a patient man and my five year old was being a saint for once.  35 minutes pass and the tech (who doesn't communicate in English very well, not his fault he is ESL). He starts my truck and attempts to drive it into the stall with the emergency brake on. No big deal, that happens when you work on various products. He gets it in the stall and I mentioned my truck had a full time 4WD 203 transfer case. This means it's always in 4WD (gas hog, I know). He proceeds to strap my truck to a 2 wheel dyno. Yeah, that's for 2 wheel drive cars. When he starts to drive on the dyno I immediately yell for him to stop because it will do damage to my drive train. He doesn't and continues so I walk into the shop and point to the sticker noting "full time 4wd". He stops the dyno and states my truck is 2wd. I politely tell him he must have entered the model incorrectly. Just then, a lady from the back come out actually screaming at me that he didn't enter it wrong and I need to leave. At that point I was more than glad to, considering this all happened in front of my kid. Totally incompetent staff and awful customer service. Take your business to Morgan Hill smog. That dude knows what he is doing. read more
