I was told in person that i would pay x amount of money for a service. The next day i show up to get said work done for said amount of money, only to be told that its actually going to me more than 3 times the original quoted price. That is bad really bad business. I wasted my time, gas, and money to go to this location and had to turn away just based off principal and respect. I dont recommend the clowns. I do not know whether I should give this mechanic shop even 1 star, I took my car today for the brake issue, they were terrible, first charging me $120 for just 5 minutes check, then they wanted to charge me $1200 for the brakes and disk, etc, I went to another mechanic, he charged me $50 for adjusting the brakes and the problem solved, Please do not go to this shop read more

I had a sidewall tear while I was 50 miles from home. I pulled into the nearest wheel shop, and they told me it would cost $1,200 for a special set of tires that they would have to rush from another site. I literally called this place Gilroy Lube Auto Repair next door and spoke to a man called Felix who Not only was able to connect me with the right size tire but found me used ones with practically new tread for less than 1/4 the price of the first place I visited. Felix knew what he was talking about and the whole place was totally professional while we were there, waiting with a dog while stranded but with their help and good hospitality. Felix also warned me that my rear brakes were pretty low. But he was honest when I asked if he thought I could limp it home to deal with the repair myself. Take a look at their work and tell me whether you would rather have brand-new at $300 per corner or what I have to call brandused at only 75? On top of that, these guys managed to squeeze us in right after they finished their meal, understanding that we had children and a dog and were stuck. 10/10 if I lived in the area I would trust all my undercarriages to these guys. I came here for an oil change a few months ago, the experience was pleasant. I was in and out within 45 mins. Thought I'd continue to give my business. However, today, i used my hour lunch and drove to Gilroy Lube at 1pm, walked into the main lobby with my keys rattling in my hands, greeted the guy at the register , he said hi back, but did not ask if I needed help or if i have been helped. I stood there for 10 minutes,while he rang someone up, I continued to stand there to make him Aware that I haven't been helped. Once he was done, we made eye contact, he answered a call and walked outside. I sat in the lobby for another 6 mins. At this point, I decided to leave. I searched oil change for my car. Their price seemed to be ok so i went there and later the man opened my hood and said my filter should be extra $20. Why they didn't tell me at the beginning? Because I don't have time so I let them do it. And when I go to home they charge me extra $12 addition to $20 saying they put extra oil which they never mentioned. Called all around Gilroy for estimates on an oil change and this was the only place that wasn't price gouging. Estimate on an oil change here was $120 for full synthetic up to 5 quarts. Final price was $114 and change (cheaper than the estimate!). When I called, Felix answered the phone and was very professional and quick to help me get the information I requested. Felix told me to bring the car in. I didn't have to make an appointment or wait for one. When I arrived, I parked around back and was greeted by Felix. He remembered our phone conversation. He told me it would take approximately 30 minutes to complete the oil change. I waited inside the air conditioned office. I walked by a bathroom that looked very clean. Less than 30 minutes later my vehicle was ready! They told be they topped off my fluids using BMW fluids which were designed for my BMW. This place is awesome! Thank you to Felix and the person who helped me at the counter (sorry I didn't get your name). Very professional and excellent customer service! I had a great overall experience! I was quoted $79.99 for a Full Synthetic oil change, which in itself is PRICEY, but when I returned to pick up my car, I was charged $105. I am then told that the quote was for a car that normally takes 5 quarts of oil and that mine required 7 quarts. Was mine the first Subaru that they ever worked on? Had previously had good experiences with this place, but it now seems to have the same problem as other places in town hiring young people. Supposed to open at 8. Arrived early to make sure to get out quick. Employee sitting in parking lot in vehicle until after 8. Then proceeded to slowly walk in the store and slowly start opening up. Felix is the man! Driving from SF to San Luis Obispo, our trusty 1995 Toyota Camry broke down on 101 at the Gilroy exit. Got a tow to Gilroy Lube Auto Repair, which was one of the few auto repair shops open on a Saturday -- lucky break #1. Lucky break #2 -- Felix the manager came out to meet us at the tow truck, said he could take our car right away to identify the issue. Turned out to be a cracked radiator, which blew out all the coolant. Lucky break #3 -- Felix said that he could get a new radiator that day (Saturday), and would have us back on the road in a few hours. A setback to be sure, but we were happy to be able to get our car fixed in a reasonable amount of time, and not have to leave our car there and go rent a car for the rest of our trip. True to his word, 2-1/2 hours later, we were back on the road. Felix expertly explained other potential issues he saw with our aging car, the probable cause of our cracked radiator, and treated us like we were capable of understanding the mechanical issues (which I sincerely appreciated). I could see that Felix was not trying to sell us extra services, but genuinely cared and wanted to help us avoid car troubles in the future. They charge too much for an oil change. They tell you your filters need to be changed even if they're a little dirty. And then they insist you need to get another change in only 2000 miles. They did a fine job but try to milk you too much. Don't fall for it! read more

With 193 oil change places in Gilroy, very hard to decide whom to give your $80 to. Been coming here for about 5-6 changes now. Feel I'm not getting screwed , using the oil I ask for and and feel they are doing the work and tightening the "screws" With that in mind at least we know the work being asked is getting done and prices are in the ballpark. read more

Never had such a friendly oil change as I did here! I called to see if I needed an appointment, and Miguel said to come on it. They greeted us right away and we're working on our car in just a few minutes. We sat outside in the shade and there were done in about ten minutes. They came to check if we wanted to change our air conditioner filter change (it desperately needed it), and we were in an out. The owner gave a military discount without us even asking. Brought my Audi in for a tire repair - got a nail in the tire on the treads but near the sidewall. Wheel Works said they couldn't patch/ repair it, but they recommended Gilroy Lube and I'm sure glad they did. I was in and out in about 25 min, and they topped off my oil all for just $39. I just had the worst experience here!! I went in for an oil change and got ripped off. I wanted a synthetic oil put in my car. Apparently there are two types regular synthetic and full synthetic. When I asked for an explanation or the difference between the two, the only thing the guy could tell me was the difference in price. I told him I wanted regular synthetic (cheaper of the two) and he went back and did whatever he wanted (which was putting in the more expensive synthetic). He then argued with me and told me that is what I wanted. After calling him on his mistake he then changed his story and told me they did not make sympathetic oil. This is a horrible place, I suggest never going there. They are liars and they are cheaters!!! This place doesn't even deserve one star!! read more

First time here today and only went because the previous reviews were great, I normally go to Wheel Works but there customer service is horrible and they don't communicate well with their customers. This place was great starting with what I look for was great friendly customer service, also Agustin was the one who helped me out and he was very nice and knowledgeable he took the time to explain everything to me about my how I should stick to a certain oil type due to my motor and how fairly new is my car. He took the time to show me where my motor shows a particular number, I explained some concerns and he was kindly enough to check certain parts and made sure I understood my car more.
