Brought my 2013 Lexus GS 350 in for a coolant leak and paid about $180 in diagnostic fees. They told me I needed a full radiator, thermostat, and hoses replaced -- quoted around $1,800. Their own paperwork admitted the cooling system only lost 1 psi in 15 minutes and that they couldn't actually find a leak. I got a second opinion at a dealership. The real problem was just the radiator cap -- the worn cap couldn't hold pressure, so the coolant was boiling over and escaping. About $100 to replace, and the car has run perfectly ever since. The cap was even listed on their own quote (a $26 part), but instead of trying the cheap fix first, they pushed a $1,500 radiator job. Either they couldn't diagnose a basic cooling issue or they were counting on me not getting a second opinion. Get your quote checked elsewhere before paying these guys. read more

Just called to get a simple quote for a quick oil change and the lady who answered the phone was instantly annoyed just because I asked for a quote. She said, "I'd assume it depends on how much oil you need." I'm assuming she was referring to the fact that I hadn't yet mentioned my vehicle type. I let her know I'd gladly give her the make and model, and she immediately said "Hold on" and left me on hold without saying anything else. Then a guy named David got on the phone, and based on how he answered, he seemed just as annoyed, maybe even more than the first lady. I had to ask him to give me a quote. I gave him the make, model, and year, and then he asked for the motor size. I said I didn't know, assuming there was only one option. He responded with an irritated tone, "Then we can't quote you." I later looked it up and confirmed the 2014 Honda Odyssey only comes with one motor size, the 3.5L V6. After he finally gave me the quote, I said thank you and he just hung up on me without saying another word. Contacted Patrick and Dave at Preferred Auto to see if they could fix an exhaust leak and change my oil on my Porsche GT4. Brought it in and they were able to diagnose the exhaust leak as a mis-installed O2 sensor from a previous shop. They were able to fix the threads on the manifold saving me from a major expense and install all new O2 sensors. Very happy with the outcome and they did everything in 2 days. I brought my truck in for suspension work, and it was around 800 bucks. A bit much, but ok. I've taken other vehicles here before, and I WAS happy with the service. They started charging customers 8% for credit card transactions. I am completely disgusted with this change, passing another price increase to the customer. Bad enough, they're charging a premium for hourly labor, now 8% more for a credit card. I think it's completely ridiculous to change us 8% more. I don't mind paying a premium for labor here, they do good work. The 8% more, come one guys... In their defense, a small coupon online is available. From the moment I first called and spoke to Sarah about my urgent engine problem on my 2011 Corvette Grand-Sport, I could tell I was in safe hands. Sarah was able to get my 2011 Corvette Grand Sport in immediately, which was a HUGE help to me because I had to get back to San Francisco that evening. They were able to diagnose the problem, get the new parts from the Chevy dealership, and have my car fixed and ready to go the same day by 5pm! EXCELLENT SERVICE! My 1997 VW golf with AAA two preferred auto motive just recently, like yesterday. I knew my clutch cable went out and unfortunately I knew it could only be the clutch cable. They indicated the clutch was good but the cable needed to be replaced. They said it would take 2.5 hours at $165 rate for labor per hour. my gut instinct indicated highway robbery! 2.5 hours to change a clutch cable only?! I knew this to be incorrect but they had me buy the balls. I was going to pay $625 for a clutch cable until they came to their senses, and realized their labor charges Were grossly estimated. It was re-estimated to only take 1.3 hours so the price dropped to $411. I am very happy about the price tag but mostly I am very happy with the install. Meaning, whoever installed the clutch cable surely dialed it. my car seems to run better and shifts better and I'm very happy with this auto shop and I highly recommend it. I am so happy that this shop is available out here I just moved into the Monterey area not to long ago and couldn't find a good diesel shop to work on my truck if it matters I have a 2000 ford f250 7.3. And so no one had any availability to work on my truck or just wouldn't answer my phone calls and I called all the way from Paso to Monterey they took me in the next day and I had my truck towed to them. They fixed my truck in no time at all and didn't oversell me or push unnecessary this or that.These guys are honorable and it's extremely refreshing to not have to deal with a mechanic and wonder if their up charging you for something. I don't recommend going to this company. They checked my car to only tell me what I already knew which was I had a leak. They topped my car off with water and coolant and charged me $100. Come to find out, a bolt was lose that caused the leak but they didn't mention it at all. I'm a woman that was stranded and they took advantage.
