I've been coming to Alameda Launderland with my family for years, but our experience with the…read moreevening attendant on September 18 was extremely upsetting. Around 9:30 PM, my dad needed additional change to finish drying our laundry. The attendant told him the change machine was turned off after 9:30. Although she eventually helped him, her tone was unnecessarily rude and condescending. Around 9:55 PM, I watched her assist another customer with change without displaying the same attitude toward him. Later, while I waited to retrieve clothes from a dryer, the attendant continued changing a trash bag directly in front of it without acknowledging me. She only moved after another customer spoke up. The biggest issue involved the laundry carts. Twice, she took a cart I was actively using, despite approximately eight or more other carts being available and nobody waiting for one. When I questioned why this was necessary, she cited a "new rule" from the owner and mentioned that the owner monitored the cameras. When I expressed that I felt singled out by how aggressively the rules were being enforced, she told us that if we were the "type of people" who thought we were above the rules, we should go somewhere else. That comment was particularly upsetting. We weren't asking for special treatment or exemptions from the rules. We simply expected to be treated respectfully. By the time we finished our laundry, I was physically shaking with anger and holding back tears. I've generally had positive experiences with the other attendants over the years, which made this incident especially disappointing. UPDATE -- October 2026 (3 stars): Following my review, the owner personally reached out, apologized, and confirmed that my concerns had been reviewed and addressed with the employee involved. Management also assured me that expectations regarding the cart policy would be clarified with staff. I've since returned and had a much better experience with another attendant, who was courteous and helpful. However, the employee involved in my original complaint wasn't working that day, so I cannot yet speak to whether her behavior has improved. I'm raising my rating from 1 to 3 stars to acknowledge management's responsiveness and efforts to address my concerns. My original experience still stands, but I also believe in giving credit where it's due.

The next size down was $6.50 it was a newer machine.. So washing was on the cheaper side. The older machine definitely doesn't wash good. The dryers is what they get you on. I had one on the hot setting and it didn't get hot. 1 quarter get you three minutes 2 quarters gets you 5 min ( makes no sense it should be 6 min ) normally I would only spend $1.50 max drying but here I had to spend around $3.00 I hope this place fixes things because it's real convenient as I live nearby

The card reader for large washer #15 NEVER works. As a matter of fact, for all of the card machines in this facility, I would load clothes in and check if the card reader works FIRST before putting detergent in the washer - there is a little bit of a grace period between paying and having to press start. No one is on site that I have seen so your detergent spent will be detergent lost if the machine doesn't work or you don't have coins. 2. Check the dryers. Sometimes there are error messages and the card readers can be finicky (pic incl.). Also... there is a new notice that is BARELY NOTICEABLE) now that says you need a minimum of $1 just to start the dryers... be warned. Pic also incl. 3. Launderland South Shore 545 S Shore Ctr W Alameda, CA 94501…read more(510) 337-0769 Nov 06, 2025 Yes, I went all the way to Alameda from San Leandro to do my laundry, and it was worth the trip. LaunderLand is clean, well-maintained, and has plenty of machines available--even during busier times. They have two change machines, which is super convenient, and there's also an ATM on-site--just note that there is an ATM fee. The couple that runs the business is very nice and helpful, which makes the experience even better. If you're using this laundromat for the first time, pay attention: not all the washing machines and dryers are coin-operated. Some run on a reloadable card that you can purchase there, so it helps to check before loading your clothes. A nice little perk--if you get hungry, there's a café right next door: Southshore Cafe. The washers and dryers work efficiently, and I appreciated how quickly everything got done. The space feels safe and bright, with enough seating to wait comfortably. The machines are easy to use, and the whole place is kept tidy, which isn't always the case with laundromats. Overall, a convenient and reliable spot to get laundry done without any hassle. I'll definitely be coming back.

You think the bonuses of having the place not far from where I live, being next to a restaurant,…read moreacross from Dominio's, and near a convenient store would make this place more appealing to me. However the downsides are kinda of what loses it for me. 1. As many times as I've visited this place, I've never seen an attendant on duty there. Sad when something happens to the machine and you can't get any help. There are suppose to be slips to let them know that somethings wrong, but I didn't find any when the dry ate my money and did nothing. 2. I found them to be a bit too expensive for my taste and they don't tell you how many loads any of their machines can take so you can judge if it's worth the price. 3. The dryers have only three settings: high, low, and perm press. For anyone who has to do laundry on a medium setting, I think you're kind a screwed. I spent a while on the perm press setting, thinking that is the equivalent to medium setting, and eventually had to settle with slightly damp clothes. Prices are: regular machine: $1.75 to $2.50 medium: 3:50 large: $5.00 ex-large:$6.00 dryer: $0.25 for 7 minutes In the goal of having to save time and money, I was disappointed in only walking away with saving a little time.
