I had no viruses as he claims he fixed. My only issue was the computer was shutting down by itself because of overheating caused by a build up of dust inside the cabinet . THAT IS ALL that was wrong with my computer... and that should have been a $ 75 to $100 service call for opening the case and blowing out the dust with a can of air, not $275 that he actually charged me by inventing the fictitious accounts of viruses and memory issues and all kinds of spyware. He kept the computer for 48 hours to do a 10 minute service, so it would appear that he actually performed hours of work that he did not do. He called me several times during this 48 hour period..each time adding more claims of problems I had and imaginary work he supposedly completed. If he actually did all the claimed...why did he not give me an invoice or receipt after several times that I asked him for that by phone and e-mail. These requests for this invoice or receipts have all been ignored by this man who goes by the name of JR Kennedy. He talks in previous messages about " us " as to claim his company "faster computer " has several top notch IT employees when in reality ..he is the only person in his company that he apparently runs out of his car. Be sure that if you do have him work on your computer after all you are now aware of...that you pay him by check made out to his business and not his name as he requested of me. A legitimate business person would have you make payment to be payable to his business and not to him so he could pay his credit card bill as he claimed when I asked him why . I could go on here with more cautions about dealing with this bozo...but that will just cause him to write more lies back to try and cover his tracks. This all needs to end sometime ..and maybe he can just get on with his life ..as I plan to ...and I will just chalk this bad experience up to " live and learn " although I will still spread the word to all of my family and friends in this greater Bellingham / Franklin area so they won't get ripped off by this bozo , as I did. Get an honest life JR .. and stop your obsession with trying to justify a scam that someone called you on !! Oh BTW ..this is not harassment as you claim... It was a positive experience - everyone I dealt with was friendly, they improved the fan in the laptop, and got it back to me within 2 days. What I particularly liked about the experience is that I was given a very detailed update on my laptop and what my options were before committing to any particular solution. The estimate for the work was fair and the final bill came in slightly under the estimate which was a nice plus. I will being calling upon them again if/when I need technical help with my laptop.

Quick google search on my cell for local computer repair pulls up PC Guyz about 3 miles away in the Roache Brothers plaza on Rt 138 on the Easton / Stoughton line. (There were quite a few nerds to pick from but what do I know except for recent reviews so I chose to go local and crossed my fingers.) On the way there I'm thinking about how I haven't backed up in 3 weeks. I have proposals halfway done. I have emails in draft that need to be sent. I'm thinking how much a new computer is gonna run me etc. As I stepped into the store Dan greeted me and we commenced to chat about what happened and what he would do. He is a thoughtful and friendly guy. Its a fairly small space with the counter and register on the left and a display case in front. In between there's a narrow opening to the rear. His workshop has a bank of computers and lots of plugs on the wall. There were a bunch of laptops on the counter. Obviously much can go wrong and eventually will. Someday you will need a shop and a nerd. I can jump the gun and tell you now come here to PCGuyz if its within your radius. Dan knows his stuff and suggested he run an HP diagnostic which would take 4.5 hrs as I had lots of crap to go through. He said not to worry lol. I called the next day and he was then running a C drive cleaner and said that my hard drive was OK NO VIRUS! Oh boy I'm stoked. When it was done I came in looked him in the eye and said whats the damage thinking has to be 100+. Dan said that in reality all I needed was a tune up and the charge was $50. I'm floored with the outcome, and the honest and affordable service. Much like getting your car fixed your at the mercy of the service man and you just have to hope they are honest. When you find one thats a keeper. I pay Dan and promise him this review. He says word of mouth is best but I say Yelp is the printed word of mouth and I'm glad to help him any way that I can.

I built it myself 7 years ago, so I usually handle maintenance myself, but I couldn't get it to turn on at home, and I didnt want to make things worse, so I found Joe's online and gave a call. Turns out my computer was fine. The first time Zack plugged it in at Joe's, it booted up no issue. Despite the relative ease of the fix, Zack was very cordial when I called, and at the store he was naming parts in my custom rig before I even pointed them out. He even offered to hit my PC with the air compressor at no charge (well, at the expense of the clean countertops,; I'm embarrassed to admit I had not dusted my PC in years). I love a local business that knows their stuff. I'll be coming back in the future if I have any other issues beyond me.

To be long winded: my 1.5 year old gateway laptop decided it did not want to turn on, - after calling many repair shops I discovered many places do not even work with laptop hardware issues- iTech did! so Plus 1 for them. I took my computer here and Rich diagnosed it with a faulty motherboard. If you chose to get the work done with them, the diagnostic fee is waived which is good, and the labor/parts were fairly priced. Rich was good at staying on top of communicating with me about where my laptop stood on the repair, unfortunately I kept being told it would be done friday... then on friday... o no, maybe Monday. Then once the motherboard was fixed, it turned out the touch pad had also somehow went- In the end it took 2 months to fix! And was a lot more money than the initial estimate. To be fair- that was not their fault, there were unforeseen problems that kept delaying things, and most of the hold up was waiting on parts. Rich did discount some labor in lieu of making me wait so long. and now here I am typing on my once-again-wonderfully functioning laptop! and restored some needed data for school before the fix for free. Just a warning if you go: the Office is in a house. Its a white house, on a random side street with a red door, you have to go to the side door and press the doorbell labeled "B", which I didn't figure out until I got there.
