Damaged wall

UPDATE 12/14: We went back to inspect the old house and the things we found made it drop from "okay" to "unacceptable. 1. They just completely did not pack the master bathroom. 2. They actually left behind quite a few other random items (really random - cat toy, belts, an ALREADY PACKED BOX, and a lot more stuff!). 3. While unpacking we noticed they BROKE a guitar. 4. I mentioned they ate some of our snacks. I had thought one mover got a bit hungry and ate a chocolate or two. That was not the case. Upon checking the trash (yes, they left behind their trash) we realized they ate ALL of our snack foods, including some expensive ones! They didn't even ask! Now we are continuing unpacking and praying they did not break or STEAL anything else. This is honestly really very disappointing. The good: -Everyone wore masks, respected social distancing -They arrived on time (actually 5 minutes early) -Fast, efficient -They packed our dishes/glassware very carefully and everything was safe -Final price was actually CHEAPER than the estimate. We requested full service (including packing) but ended up packing about 50% of our apartment first, not sure if that was part of it. The not so good: -Prior to the move, communications was slow at times. -They asked us to provide lunch, even specifying they wanted burgers and cokes lol (probably we would have provided something anyway, but we had to go out of the way to Richmond to find Burger King because Sunset doesn't have much in the way of fast food...). -It appears they helped themselves to some chocolates we had lying around. Again would have been fine if they asked, but they didn't ask us. :( UPDATE12/14: Upon further inspection they ate ALL of our snacks!! And left wrappers behind!!! This is NOT OKAY. -They left some random things behind at our old apartment, like soap and shampoo in the master bathroom, and even a part of a desk. -We topped $200 ($50 pp) and they were very clearly disappointed with this. Thankfully, they didn't demand more money like some of the other reviewers experienced. More info: -From the name of the proprietor we had hoped they'd speak Mandarin Chinese, but the team they sent us spoke Mongolian. At least one of them had good English and the others spoke decent English so it was no problem. . I think management would be better off charging higher prices from the get go rather than making staff expect big tips (as it seems many reviews mention this issue) and probably paying their staff for lunch too. Uncertainty around these issues made the move a bit less smooth than we would have liked.

Damaged furniture from the move

We booked this moving company through the app "Moved." There was good and bad to our experience, and I'll start with the good. The Good: They provided very efficient and courteous service and arrived on time at 1pm (in a given window between 1-3pm). They came prepared with lots of packing tape, plastic wrap, and extra boxes if needed. They were also very proactive about assembling new boxes and packing up additional items. The move for a 1 bedroom apartment about 20 miles away took 3 people around 3.5 hours, including the drive in some traffic. The Bad: They dropped the couch while moving, which scraped some of the paint off the wall and also stained the couch. We may have to use some treatment or paint thinner to remove the paint. They also chipped the wooden TV stand during the move, despite it being wrapped in plastic. I was disappointed in their careless mishandling of furniture given their years of experience. Both apartments had elevators, so I don't think they had a good excuse for the damage that was done. They also charged extra for helping pack items and providing moving boxes, so the final cost was about 30% more than initial quote. On top of that, they even had the NERVE to ask for tips at the end! SO, pack your items yourself, and check your furniture condition before tipping!

calls I made to him and text reply from his phone completely ignoring me and not owning the responsibility!!!

I am not sure how this company have ~5 stars reviews, based on my experience, I wouldn't even give them 1 star!!! If you are reading this it means you are planning to move and know how stressful a move can be, let alone with 3 kids involved! On Friday Aug 10 (That is when we received the keys to our new house) I called few moving companies and decided to go with Zhang due to its impeccable "5 star reviews" let me tell you guys, it was the biggest mistake I have made in a long time! They were supposed to come at 2PM on Saturday Aug, 11th, so my wife and I packed everything, I even disassembled all the furnitures and took anything I could downstairs (To save time!) by 12PM everything was packed and ready, at 1:30PM we get a call telling us that they are running late and that they will be there at 4PM! We said ok, time to relax a bit right? NOOOOO!!! At this point I was very frustrated and I started looking for other alternatives, as I had a feeling that they will never show up, unfortunately I wasn't able to find a 24 foot truck for the next day, so I had to wait for the mercy of Mr. Zhang!!! NOT!!!! Well guess what happened at 3:30PM, we received another call saying that they are running late and will be there at 6PM!!! at 6:30, still no show (And who the hell is going to come over to move my shit at 6:30PM, after hauling furniture all day) I called him, just to find out that he can't get a hold of his driver! I told him, let's move it to 10AM the following day, can you guess what he said? I didn't! "I can't come in at 10AM as I have another commitment for that time" I asked him what about the commitment he had for us for my family at 2PM for that day? I was very upset with him and very emotional, so I yelled a bit and he hung up the phone! I tried calling him 10 more times, he kept ignoring my calls, so I texted to see if they will come the following day, no answer!!! He pretty couldn't care if we move or not! which is really sad and tell you a lot about a company! (People why the 5 stars, where are the real reviews!!! you are messing with people's livelihood here, no joke!) I loaded my wife SUV with anything I could and told her to drive to the new house with the kids and sleep on a blowup mattress! I found a Uhaul truck for 7AM on Sunday picked up 3 awesome guys from Home Depot and moved my house on my own without Mr "5 Stars BS" Save yourself the headache go with someone you know or a friend recommendation, stay away from this dude!!! See attached images of all my experience!

Taking good care of our house plants!

Booking: I sent an inquiry directly with the company due to their stellar reviews, and they were able to schedule me in for my preferred time/day. The overall process was really convenient, especially because of their flexible time window. Moving: the two movers, Herman and Aleksei, were incredibly efficient and very sweet/patient throughout the move. I appreciate that they handled both my expensive & economical items delicately. Also, I wasn't completely prepared on my end with the move such as knowing details like where to park for loading/unloading or even which items to move vs discard, which I had been dreading for weeks. However, thanks to their expertise and versatility, the move was stress-free. And a huge shoutout to Herman for his guidance and coordination that really ensured a seamless experience. Overall, this company lives up to its 5-star rating, and I highly recommend Herman & Aleksei if they are available!

Paid a little over 2.5k to move a 630 sq ft 1b/1b 3 miles and had 3, and eventually 4 movers. Overall I'd say it was good, not great When I scheduled I explained I had two walkins with lots of clothes - they assigned me three people when I likely needed more as I had a walkup. We ended up totally missing the window for the move which is more my fault but I had asked the people who confirmed if they felt it was reasonable. They helped move the hanging items (which I expect) and had me pitch in to pack the glass despite having asked for them to send someone to do this. It's not an issue but I do think there was a general lack of communication bw the movers and the ppl who helped book that made the day less efficient than it could have been. I'm happy to pack those things as it gave me an outlet for my moving anxiety and saves me time ofc but even without packing glass it still took 9 hours When I realized we were pretty behind it was very easy to get someone else last minute at noon, so that was helpful and everyone coordinated quickly to make it happen. All the guys were also very respectful and carefully wrapped my furniture (table, 4 chairs, coffee and side table, large tv, bed and heavy lifting frame, chair desk and small wine fridge). I think I have a lot crammed in to a 1B and was overall a good experience, though not quite as smooth or efficient as my previous SF moves Pros: Crew is friendly Didn't break anything, including my fancy stemware Cleaned up after themselves removing wrap and paper Very efficient by helping me add an extra mover at a reasonable cost ($50hr) Cons: Timing ended up being totally off :( not their fault completely but I tried to communicate several times during booking I had a small elevator window and a lot of stuff Pretty pricey for a 1 bed 3 mile move

We had a challenging move from downtown S.F. to Berkeley, to a house that is in the middle of multiple construction projects. Yet they made everything feel easy. I had gotten food poisoning the day before and we were stressing because we hadn't yet finished packing. But it was no problem--they loaded the truck with the items that were ready to go while we packed the rest. Make sure to ask for Joseph and his team (Fernando and Victor). They arrived a little early so they'd be ready and were the utmost professional while also being a warm and friendly team of guys. We would have them over dinner any time. Because of Joseph I'm now convinced that moving is both an art and an athletic feat. We had a recliner (100lbs) and a treadmill (200lbs) that were too wide to go through a doorway--and yet he maneuvered them effortlessly through without a scratch on either.

DO NOT USE ROYAL MOVING & STORAGE…read more My experience involved deceptive billing, $1,348.35 being taken and later refunded after I fought the charges, a $204.85 tip intentionally added without my knowledge or approval, manipulative tactics by management, damaged property, and a missing item. I was quoted $627 to pack and move my business property into Royal's storage. The crew was scheduled for 9:00 a.m. but arrived around 10:30. I did not receive the invoice until the move was complete and my property was already at Royal's Oakland facility. The bill was $2,048.50 before tip and included: * 5.5 billed hours, although Royal's records show 10:31 a.m.-2:58 p.m.--4 hours and 27 minutes of actual work. * $480 for complimentary moving pads. * $100 for bubble wrap the return driver confirmed was never used. * $90 for wardrobe boxes advertised as complimentary. * $100 for an item supposedly over 300 pounds, although the return driver confirmed none existed. * A $204.85 tip I never approved, authorized, or knew about. I had already given the crew a $60 cash tip based on the $627 quote. When I saw the inflated bill, I specifically told the driver not to charge my card because management and I were disputing it. A manager later confirmed that management had also told him not to process the payment. He processed $2,253.35 anyway and intentionally added a $204.85 tip for himself without my knowledge or approval. I did not discover it until I received the invoice the next day. This was not an accidental selection or billing error. He was told not to charge the card, charged it anyway, and deliberately took another $204.85. That is theft. Royal tried to claim its payment screen automatically defaulted to a tip. The driver's own screenshots contradict that explanation: they show "Tip Amount 0," "No tip," and "Add No Tip." The tip had to be selected and added. I spent five or six days dealing with multiple managers to recover my money. Rather than immediately correcting the bill, management used manipulative tactics and selectively quoted portions of Royal's website and estimate while ignoring language contradicting their claims. Management first claimed moving pads and blankets were different. Then they claimed the $480 was charged because the pads would remain in storage and would be refunded when returned. Royal eventually admitted this supposed charge was not disclosed anywhere. The return driver confirmed that pads and blankets are the same and Royal does not charge storage customers for them in any capacity. He also confirmed no bubble wrap was used and no item exceeded 300 pounds. Royal eventually corrected the legitimate bill to $905 and refunded $1,348.35. This was not a discount, compensation, or goodwill. It was my own money being returned after invalid charges were removed. Royal did not discount the corrected bill by one penny. Management admitted the intentionally added tip was unacceptable and should never have happened, but later confirmed the employee was still employed. Royal cannot credibly say intentionally taking a customer's money is unacceptable while retaining the person who did it. Once management knew exactly what happened and chose to keep him, this became a reflection of the company--not merely one dishonest employee. It told me everything I needed to know about Royal's character and business ethics. The problems continued. During the billing dispute, I told a manager I was worried about my stored property because this employee and his coworkers still had access to everything my business owned. She guaranteed my belongings would be fine. When Royal returned them, a massage table and water dispenser were damaged and a TV wall mount was missing. My documented replacement costs were $316.13. Royal did not respond to my claim for about a week, then twice claimed it had not received emails that showed as delivered. I finally had to resubmit everything through a text link. Royal offered only $200 as a "gesture of goodwill." Partially paying for property damaged or lost while in its possession is not goodwill. It is another refusal to take full responsibility. Mistakes happen. What defines a business is how management responds. Royal defended invalid charges, gave explanations contradicted by its own records, made me fight nearly a week to recover $1,348.35, retained an employee who intentionally stole more than $200 from me, and refused to fully cover documented damaged and missing property. In my experience, Royal Moving & Storage cannot be trusted with your property, credit card, or money. I strongly warn others not to use this company.
