Atmosphere 5/5 Service 3/5 Cleanliness 2/5 This place is located in a little strip mall with Safeway, Starbucks, Wells Fargo and a few other little small businesses. You will notice it by all the neon signs in the windows and of course the bussiness sign. When you walk up here be prepared to be patted down and asked for your ID and pay if you a dude. But if you a female or hoochie mama with leggings, cleavage, stilettos and two other friends.....you by pass all that. The joys of being a woman I guess. The bouncers are kinda sarcastic but I don't let that get to me, I'm here to have a few drinks and enjoy my time. The bars is fully stocked and even have some "delights" that aren't commonly found at bars and pubs this side of the east bay "fernet and 805" but the bar service kinda..lacks. Bartenders catering to their friends first, flirting and taking shots with people. Hardly charging some, and upselling others....lions, tigers and bears "Oh My" I dislike being upsold when one, I know bar politics, two the person next to me orders the samething and they are charged $3 bucks less..no bueno yo! And these bartenders and bar backs have the worst cleaning skills, like I guess they like soaking wet tips and to serve the partons at bars they can't even lean on without getting wet. They have to really work on that. But aside from that and when I do get served, my cocktails have been pretty good here, they know what they are doing. And not to mention the beers are tapped perfectly. The men's bathroom is....atrocious! Like "Wow" they need to start all over, It's messed up and honestly I would be embarrassed as a business owner to let it go like that. Hopefully they fix this problem, the dj they had that night kept the crowd going and was consistant, everyone was moving and dancing and having fun, as a fellow dj, I gave her the proper respect. She was honestly the saving grace here. Without a proper dj controlling the crowd I propabubly would of left. In conclusion, some good moments, and some not so good moments. But seeing drunk people get loose and having a good time is always entertaining. This place is located off Contra Costa Blvd. Smart and Final and Caspers Hot Dogs are close by if you need landmarks to go by. I think I will go back, but if something else came up I wouldn't be sad about missing out on this place. But my opinion is only mine, be your own judge and if you happen to need a casual drink avoid this place between Thursday - Saturday between 9pm - 12am. I'm not really a bar type of guy, although it definitely runs in my family. For example, the last time I was in Milwaukee, my mother pointed out the bar that her Dad used to hide out and be lied for when her Mom was looking for him. My Dad and his brother frequented Joe's Place in Iowa City, and after their wedding he and Mom loved to go to neighbourhood Wisconsin pubs for a drink and a fish fry. As for me, I've lived in Albany for years, and have never once set foot in the Ivy Room, the Mallard, or the Hotsy Totsy. So I'm at work today and call up a colleague up at 2 PM to ask a question. He's in Den Haag, where it's 11 PM, and he's enjoying a scotch while he giving me an answer I didn't want to hear. So at around 4 PM, I figure it's been a rough day and wonder why he should have all the fun. Within Pleasant Hill, the core bar choices (that I know of) are pretty much limited to Magoo's or Farrington's. And since I had already Yelped the former, it was time for the latter. After that phone call, I could have used a drink called a Warp Core Breach. Instead, I was very happy with a single Racer 5 on Tap and a bowl of peanuts. Farrington's looks like another nondescript place within the Safeway complex, and is actually much larger than I expected. I was here at quiet time and the main attraction was baseball on several of the screens. The pool tables, dart boards, and disco lights were all lonely. I was also surprised at the good beer selection (draft and bottle) and the pleasant demeanor of both the barkeep and the clientele. This joint is a local dive that has been here as long as I can remember. I'm pretty sure my mom has partied here in her day. I only come here every 3-5 years depending on the occasion. It's completely off my radar. The crowd is pretty diverse here. I did come here however, for 2012 St. Patrick's day celebrations. There was a line to get into this joint along with a $5 cover charge. We all were thinking, "seriously!" The tiny dance floor can be dangerous when drunkies spill their drinks on the floor and you are trying to dance. Also, when an E 40 or Mac Dre song comes on, everyone all of a sudden becomes a gangsta and starts trying to get all hyphy. Really people, we're in Pleasant Hill, get over it!! I had my doubts about nightlife past Oakland but this is a nice little spot. I love the area with 5 pool tables. Nice theaters seats for sitting over there too. There was a DJ playing everything from Top 40 to 90s pop and Bay Area Rap. Also had some screens with all sorts of sports playing like the Winter Olympics, tennis, and soccer. There's a scrolling electronic banner showing random news headlines and sports scores near the dance floor area. The gin & tonic I had was pretty stiff. I thought a double was ordered by mistake. Can't comment on how the venue smells because honestly I didn't notice that. If you didn't grow up in the bay area or listen to 90s Bay Area Rap music, this place isn't for you. This is the last time going here. My friend and I were harassed by two drunk people and security did nothing. In fact, I saw one security guard with the goatee laughing it up with one of them. So my friend is a little drunk and took their pool table balls while they had left their table, which i apologized for and paid them a dollar back for their game. They decided to make it out like we stole their wallets and money and then proceeded to get in my friends face over it and say we lied about giving them money, even though we did. It was right in front of an employee who did nothing. What a real bar would have done was tell these drunk @$$holes to either settle down and get out of our face or they need to leave but that didnt happen. It was a random November night, in the city of Pleasant Hill.. Not much was going on and decided to go to a bar to have a couple drinks... enter Farrington's. Which I had no idea even existed, do people even go out in Pleasant Hill.. regardless, its actual a pretty decent sized place in a random plaza. There's no kitchen so there's a lady in the back that cooked taco's which is great. It looks like a neighborhood bars with a bunch of regulars and stuff like that... its majority white folks so its kind of odd when you walk into the bar, the later it gets, the younger the clientle are. I would def come back again just to have a couple drinks and kick it. It's not one of those places were you plan on going to a week or so in advance that's for sure. It reminds me of a bar where old folks go to after they play softball or something like that. read more

This review may be sensitive to read but it is very much needed after what happened and the way I was treated last night. I am a 22 year old female and I went to farringtons last night on a Sunday. The date was April 2nd 2023. I was going with some friends to get some drinks after going to a previous bar. All of a sudden the night completely changes. There was a shooting outside of the bar and most went out to see what was going on. The shooting happened right in front of the bar so don't forget to bring a bullet proof vest when coming to farringtons. As this went down I felt unsafe being outside since there was just a shooting and wanted to go back into the bar to collect myself and find a way to get home. There was a security guard at the front who was a female with glasses and a short hair cut. She told me I could not come in because I was screaming. Which I wasn't but still she or that bar did not care about my safety and let people with guns in there. The crowd at that bar is a mess and super dangerous. I was so scared and I stay outside waiting for a ride next to a dead body basically. This bar showed me never to come back and that they don't care about their customers safety. I like Farrington's. For the most part, it's an awesome place to grab a drink with a few friends and go throw darts or shoot pool or even brave a round of Karaoke. So by activities alone, it's an awesome plan B, when you can't get out of town. What bugs me is that choosing to go over there is like deciding to visit a friend with multiple personalities, you never know what crap you're going to have to put up with. Sometimes it's a chill scene. I'll come in with a group of people, the bouncer will give us each a free drink token to ease over the entrance fee, and it's a cool. But, then the next night, no tokens, shady dudes are leaning all over the pool tables and cops are standing outside waiting for closing time. They had dancing and some great drinks. I am glad that had Angry Orchard Apple Cider for me while my friends got some beers. We had a blast dancing and the vibe here was great. Rude and over aggressive staff make this a very unwelcoming environment. The bar gets very busy and usually has 1 bartender which makes getting your drink(s) nearly impossible. The smoking area is located right outside the door which makes it very unappealing. This is the type of place where you have to "know someone to get something." This is a locals bar, where people know the bartenders pouring their stiff drinks, loud music and drunks spill from the dance floor, and smokers mingle outside with the bouncer. The front room houses the bar and dance floor along with the tv sets, while an adjacent room has bar-size billiard tables. Framed newspaper clippings and photographs chronicle the early patrons of this establishment, and historic media happenings along the way. If you're lucky enough to see the owner, a grizzled, white-haired man who is obviously a veteran who has seen it all, don't be alarmed. He might give you a hard time, but it's all in jest. The cavalry of cabs lurking outside know the clientele. By the end of the night most will stumble out loudly and drunkenly, in need of a ride home. Farrington's Irish bar review This pub is exactly what you would think it should be. You walk into a sports bar consisting of all the usual knick- knack on the walls, several pool tables, some weird stadium seating and bunch of sports games on plasma TVs. The worst offense in the bar is a stupid projection big-screen of the last fake implant bimbo contest. It's really a dated theme that could be easily fixed to not offend the younger chic's who think that's not so cool. Heck, play a female sports channel or something if you need to near-porn feed the ugly male population. Chances are that you would gain (by not offending) a couple more hotties into the bar; who will in turn attract more customers and not affect your business at all. Bar staff is usually friendly and decent eye candy behind the bar is present. There is a small but present lesbian population that is platonically friendly to everyone. A decent population of hawt females visiting the bar ages 21-35. Guys outnumber chicks by 10-15% usually. The beer selection is decent but pedestrian in flavors. The only Stout/ Porter is the inferior Guinness. The I-net jukebox will download just about anything and I loaded it with Stellastarr*, Killers, and Silversunpickups. In an unusual maneuver the police officers will walk into the bar near the end of the night. I think this is a good idea and helps remind people they should order a water to end the night. The popular drink seems to be some horrible looking red-bull and liquor concoction. 2nd review I revisited on a Saturday night. I thought I had walked in on interracial couple party, not that there is anything wrong with that. If you're a black man in East Contra Costa County and you like curvy Caucasian/ Latina females put Farrington's on a must visit list. At least a quarter of girls on the packed small dance floor had their hands on the floor doing that grind into the guy 'thing.' The rest were doing it standing up. The in demand black males were outnumbered by 2 to 3. One gentleman tried to pass his companion off to me "You want to hit that?" 'Dear Gentleman, you wrong me, I have no appetite to indulge in familiar duress.' There was 10-20% non-curvy (thin) female population mostly with suitors. The dress is urban here. Asian, White, Latino, and Blacks all were the caps incorrectly skewed to show their non-compliance and individuality. The Bar was hopelessly overwhelmed and lost many drink sales to frustration. Open up a beer stand somewhere else (get Bud, Coors or Colt 45 Malt Liquor to sponsor, sign and build it) and sell only their brand there at a 'fidty' cent discount have one guy pop beer tops and hand them out. This would increase the overall sales and take a ton of pressure off the bar. You could do it in one corner of the big bar too. The police walked through the whole bar 3-4x in the hour and a quarter I was there. They seemed to be looking for trouble. There was brewing fight right next to me where a Latino lady grabbed her crotch and said something about 'blowing up an inflatable canine' to a rather irate young white youth who may have seen the worse side of the Concord projects. Who retorted 'that she was unfamiliar with his domicile and that he may have ill tempers referring to this female canine' they seem to both know. I never go out in East Bay, but it was one of those friday nights, when driving to SF was too much of a drag. Having my expectations set low, I ventured out to this local hot spot for a few drinks. It was a nice mix of hoodlums, white-trash and aging valley girls. The highlight of the night was a girl who was squatting in the urinal. Quite odd considering the fact that there was no line to the girl's bathroom. I guess she lost a dare and wanted to prove that she can do it. I was amused by the occasional attempts to beat match by the dj, the bartenders were swift and courteous with a generous pour. Overall a fun place with pool tables and darts, as long as you are quite drunk and don't mind the vigorous dry humping that goes on on the small dance-floor it's a-ok. I don't really know how to describe Farrngton's. I came here with a group of friends after having dinner across the street at Sichuan Fortune House (4 stars!). It was 10pm on a Tuesday night, so a pretty light crowd. There's a set of booths in what looks like a VIP section area, but I think its really designed as a viewing area for those that want to watch the set of TVs that are in that vicinity. In any case, we decided to sit there so all 10 of could cluster together, and we joked about how we looked like the Triad, since we are all Asian, and everyone else was Caucasian. I had a great time there, largely due to the company. My friend was buying drinks chatted it up with the friendly bartender, who even gave them samples of shots/drinks to try as they decided what they wanted to order (we were trying to be creative on what we consumed that night because everyone had to work the next day). The place itself was fun. I give it three stars cuz it has potential, but I don't know what it is until I come back on a busier night. read more
