On the fence about this place! My dad wanted a banana split one day and I was able to find Farmers Table through Yelp. While he enjoyed his banana split, I have not had the best experiences since coming to town. On one of the days I ordered from them my burger was a little on the crispy/dry side but the other meals seemed to be okay with the fam-- so maybe I had the one off burger. Not to mention, the patrons walking in without masks when I was there picking up my food (even though there are signs on the door saying it is required). One employee smiled and let them know they needed one to enter but they were still allowed to wait inside while someone went to the car to grab them. Part of me felt like they were regulars based on the interaction. The second time I went to grab ice cream, and when I walked in a girl was at the register but refused to acknowledge me. She just looked up and went back to doing whatever she was doing. No "Welcome!", "Hi", "How can I help you?".. NOTHING. Very awkward. After about 3 mins she finally looked at me and just stared.. so I spoke and said Hi.. and again nothing. WEIRD. By this time I just went on with my order because she clearly did not have customer service skills. She went on to burn the brownie in my sundae to a crisp and still serve it to me. I know she smelled it, because I did. I say this to say, customer service is hit or miss, and the food is alright. The ice cream is tasty when it's not served over burnt chocolate. Came here on a cold January day. So eating outside wasn't an option. We started at the Newport News location, but they were full, do we traveled across the James River. We both ordered the Farmhouse with onion rings. Both burgers were delicious. The menu stated the meat is grown and ground right here in Virginia. Plus, it's fresh, never frozen. One has to order at the counter and take a seat while it's made. That was a surprise, but not something that was an issue. Staff was friendly, patrons were polite and it had a homey atmosphere. This is a great place to bring the family. Super clean and the food always comes out quick. Service has always been great. Our last trip in there had one woman running the whole front end. She took orders and brought food out to the whole restaurant. The whole dining space was full but she was was jedi quick with the efficiency. The food is straight comfort food. The buns are nice and buttery and fresh. And although I would've preferred the chicken to be a bit more spicy, it still tasted pretty darn good. Located in a strip mall the Farmer's Table is a new addition to the Smithfield restaurant scene. The interior is clean and the decor tasteful fitting in with the name aside from the picture of a reindeer which may of been left over from the holiday season. When you walk in first go to the counter place your order and pay. For $2.49 adult $1.99 children there is a self-service drink station. When your order is ready the hostess will bring it to you. The chicken sandwich was hot and juicy with the right amount of batter and a bun that complimented it. I was a little jealous of the wife's Keto burger which left me wanting more after a taste. Really Good Friday night meal with the family! I had the farmhouse burger which was really well cooked. Nice and fresh meet with a crust and the bread and pickles were all really good. Walk into this excellent burger joint, and the first thing you notice is how clean and well laid out it is. They have about a dozen tables inside, and another four out front. All got cleaned as soon as customers left. At the same time, we were greeted immediately. We got the farmhouse cheeseburger in a combo with a drink and tater tots. Everything is cooked to order, and the food is brought to the table. We asked for the burgers to have some pink, and I was worried when I saw the gorgeous crust on the patty. The grill person is clearly a pro, because the burger was a perfect medium. I don't usually enjoy a messy burger, but the toppings were perfectly balanced, so every bite was delicious. The tots were fried golden. The next table had a chili dog and onion rings that looked delicious, too. I wanted to try the soft serve, but there was no room after the tots! Lunch for two was about $30, which is fine, given the quality of the meat. Absolutely worth stopping in if you're near Smithfield. read more

Wow! I'm so glad I found this fantastic little place while in Smithfield the other day! The restaurant is super cute, the perfect mix of modern/farmhouse rustic. The service was super nice and helpful, and the food/dessert was delicious! I got some onion rings, as well as a brownie fudge sundae, the sundae was a bit pricey, but it ended up being big enough for two people to share, with some still left over, so it was worth the price. I was eating at the farmers table a few weeks ago and encountered a terrible experience. I have been trying to hush about it but it looks so bad on their part. I watched a little girl go and ask for A donation for her pageant and the older guy with tattoos who i overheard was a "owner" which i don't believe because why would a owner ever be this rude. He first said "um can you speak up hello hello" very rudely at her, then followed by telling her no and how it wasn't important in a very rude way. i watched the little girl walk out in tears and asked her if she was ok. her family explained it wasn't that he said no, it was that he was so rude towards her. I cannot believe a "owner" would be so rude, and i personally would not come back after this. He deserves to be reprimanded. read more

I rarely write any reviews. We ate there yesterday evening and got a brisket sandwich and pulled pork sandwich with onion rings. The brisket sandwich was soooo greasy and had way too much chewy fat I couldn't eat. Worst I've had. The pulled pork was just okay. Onion rings were good, but only got four in my basket.
