Okay so. We moved to Smithfield in late 2022. Stopped in for dinner here after the movers left and…read moreour meal was just okay. Nothing memorable or anything, but not bad. BUT it wasn't good enough for us to go back. UNTIL tonight. We came out to Main Street for New Years dinner. The new local pub was full, the Wharf brewery was closed for a private event, and Taste of Smithfield was closed altogether for the holiday (fair enough). Smithfield Inn was the only other option so we figured we'd try it again. We were immediately greeted by the hostess and shown their special New Years menu. Menu looked fancy in terms of offerings but the prices were reasonable. I ordered the salmon and my hubby got the rockfish Wellington. Both were absolutely amazing! The meals came with soup, salad, and complementary champagne (New Years special). But the real star of the show were our main courses. Salmon was baked in parchment paper with two slices of lemon. I've never had such succulent salmon before! The favors of garlic and lemon were present without being overpowering. I would 1000% get this salmon again if it appeared on their regular menu. The rockfish Wellington was such a unique dish. The fish was buttery and flaky and the Wellington batter was light and crispy. The sides for both dishes was rice pilaf and roasted veggies. Couldn't get enough of the sides either, they were so flavorful! The head chef came out to speak with each the patrons as we finished with our main courses. He was so sweet and knowledgeable. He mentioned he had only been with the restaurant for two weeks and was working on revising their menus. The latest being for Sunday brunch, which he gave us a sneak peek of and looked so good! This was, hands down, a night and day different experience from 2022. We will definitely make Smithfield Inn a regular stop in our restaurant rotation on Main street. Highly highly HIGHLY recommend this place!

Well, it's absolutely absurd that I've driven past this place as many times as I probably have…read more But today I fixed that & I'm really happy. First the location: it's in a strip mall, which it shares with Kroger, a thrift store, and one of the last Roses stores around. The inside was very nice and had a real country atmosphere. Everything appeared well-kept and clean. As we entered we were quickly greeted and taken to our table. Within a few moments, we had our two sweet teas, and our order was taken. Let's say wow - our order was delivered to our table in maybe 7-8 minutes. I was in total shock. The meals. The wifey has the Monte Cristo French Toast meal. I could tell she liked it a lot. As I look at her taking her first full bite and her eyes are blasting open. She said it was absolutely outstanding. As for me, I had Biscuits & Gravy with potatoes and bacon. I will also tell you I was very happy with the taste and the portion. As for service: We had a young lady named Stephanie. I bet she checked on us 6-7 times during our stay and we were not her only table. She was just that attentive. Total for two of us - $33 which include includes a hefty state and local tax. 12.25% - Virginia and localities have gotten out of control. So I will give this place a solid 5-star review and hope that if you're passing through - and need a nice breakfast or lunch, go on in.

My husband had the gluten-free pancakes and he really enjoyed them. He also got their grilled pork chops which he liked. Their coffee is amazing, strong and hot! We shared the pecan Dijon salad. It was okay. We got a side of fries...hot and just the right amount fit salt. It's a very popular spot as we had to wait a little to be seated. But it is truly worth the wait! We will definitely be back!!
