After Sophia and I ate at Bubba and Frank's for lunch literally next door, we walked over here for some treats. Cone Slingers has been a favorite of ours for years where their ice cream has been really good. I can't really complain that much about the flavors they offer. Let's see how this visit turned out. When we first walked in, foot traffic was minimal and we spent no time in line ordering. The staff greeted us once we walked inside. They've been always friendly which has been a huge plus. And music was playing on the speakers, I believe all Country. I'm not a big fan, but don't mind listening to a few songs here and there. Anyway, I chose a scoop of Salt Lick Caramel in a cup and Sophia chose her favorite, Bee Pollen Lavender. Both of us liked our selections, but we may've chosen too much ice cream given we just finished eating lunch not that long before. Read some negative comments that seem to be about staff that is no longer there. It was my 4th trip there and NEVER was there any problem... friendly staff, cute atmosphere , and super good ice cream. I randomly visited Cone Slingers on 3/5/23 after grabbing lunch at Souper Pho. I felt like dessert and hit up the Yelp app to discover nearby spots. Cone Slingers was located a few miles down the road and figured it to be worth a shot. CS is located in a small strip mall in Carrollton - I almost passed it because I wasn't familiar with the area. Upon entering, Slingers gave off an old west saloon vibe, complete with photos and other items that lean into that aesthetic. There are some small tables set up to dine in and the place looked cozy and clean. I'm a simple man with simple dessert tastes, so I ordered an ice cream sandwich. You're able to choose the flavor of ice cream, so I went with Cowboy Cookie Dough. This item reminded me of Carvel's Flying Saucer - two round chocolate wafers/cookies with ice cream between them. Cone Slingers makes their own ice cream in house - you can taste that. Cowboy Cookie Dough served as an ice cream sandwich was out of this world. I tore it up in my car to the point where I didn't leave the parking lot until I was done. Service was quick and easy. I didn't have any questions because I knew exactly what I wanted when I saw it, and the person who helped me was all smiles, polite and fast. I wish i was able to take pictures, but it gets a little tricky with toddlers tagging along lol. However, we visited cone slingers last week after driving across the bridge and we were not disappointed! It's in a shopping center so there is a good amount of parking. Once you're inside, it gives you and old fashioned feel. There are a few tables and chairs, and a piano. The employees were very nice and welcoming. Noms! This place is so cute. I've stopped in to browse before but hadn't sampled the goods. I love that they make all the flavors and change them out, so it's not something that you can get just anywhere and it hasn't been frozen and transported a long way. Fresh and creamy. Wonderful huge range of rotating flavors (like 25+ at all times) and give you a huge portion for one scoop at about $6. They also have cones and milkshakes available. I love the decor and theme inside. It's carried through even to the bathroom where they have wanted posters hanging up and toilet paper on a real wooden branch. Just super cute all around - looks kind'a like a saloon inside. My mom is a cookie monster for ice cream so last weekend we promised we'd stop in this local's staple - she was not disappointed. It was hard to choose, from all the wonderful options but this is what we had the day we stopped in: Blue Mint Chip, Turtle and Six Shooter Skink Coffee. Blue mint chip is what you think it is - was very good and minty but not too much an didn't have too many chips in it - probably could've had just a bit more. The turtle was like snickers ice cream - with vanilla ice cream, peanuts, caramel and chocolate swirled in. Mine was the best we all thought - a coffee ice cream that was heavenly in flavor with almond toffee bites inside. SOOOO good. Everyone liked it best, so I did well. Delish! Not being familiar with the area, I decided to try this place due to the great reviews. Others had mentioned the cost of the small ice cream, but said it was a good sized scoop. The absolute best place to get ice cream! It's located in a very small shopping center with parking right there, lots of parking. The inside is like a country theme relating back to the same. It's small inside with a few tables(around 3) and I think maybe some bar like space at the window. There are also some benches to sit outside. They have good friendly service. The ice cream menu is not traditional. They have different flavors because they MAKE the ice cream. I'm a creature of habit and generally get the sugar cookie flavor, which has chucks of cookies! You can ask for samples of the flavors you are interested in prior to ordering. They are VERY GENEROUS with the scoops. I usually get a single in a waffle cone and it's a lot! The amount is a little less if you get it in a cup. When the weather is nice there is generally a line out the door in the evenings so pack your patience, it'll be worth it! During Spring Break, we started this thing with our adventure buddies where we would just end our day of adventuring by checking out a new (or old) ice cream joint. We were in Smithfield during Spring Break, so we ended it with a frozen treat at Cone Slingers that is on the way out of the area to go back home. We then went back a second time last weekend, coming back from Surry. - Vibe - Western/cowboy theme, complete with a lifesize cowboy doll, piano, Western items down to the font they use for the menus. The sass and sarcasm on their signs and menus is pretty funny (just read the caption for a shake). They have some tables inside as well as a counter by the window. - TLC - The service both times have been friendly and helpful. - Treats - My kids have had Unicorn, Sugar Cookie, Cherry Vanilla and Peach. I've been given a very small taste of each and they were all very tasty! On my first visit, I had the Banana Twinkie and that basically set the excitement for the visit. It's super banana-ey and the little nuggets of twinkie is just perfect. The cake part is not too frozen, they almost melt immediately and melt into the ice cream nicely and so does the whipped cream part of the twinkie. This is what I was looking forward to having again on the second visit, coming back from Surry, and honestly making the excuse to stop by just for that flavor, but just my luck, they didn't have it ! Waaaaaah....I guess it's not a regular flavor, so just an opportunity to try a different flavor. This time, I went for the Banana Reese's. Same banana-ey flavor, but the PB cups were obviously not as soft as the twinkie, but still good combo. I sampled the Blueberry Gingersnap that my friend raved about and that was pretty good too. My kids are obviously big fans! You can't see the ice cream. They are stored in closed freezer in the middle of the service counter area. However, they do provide samples. Great little stop, conveniently located next to a gas station. We will keep stopping by on the way out! Keeping my fingers crossed for that Banana Twinkie on my next visit. Cone Slingers was a wonderful surprise my sister and I stumbled upon. It was pretty quiet when we entered however they do have the radio playing in the background as a pleasant volume. The employees were personable and provided speedy service. The ice cream flavors were unique and delicious. I ordered the maple bacon and butter pecan and ATE EVERY BITE!! It was delicious!! Well the hubs and I were on a work errand which brought us over the bridge into Carrolton. He pulled over into a small lot of stores, and said "we are getting ice cream." I looked up at the menu posted above the register, and I begrudgingly ordered a mini of blueberry cheesecake icecream. I mean how small can a mini be right? Well its smaller then a pup cup at starbucks, and a little bigger than the sample cups at red mango and pinkberry. Its a great size for toddlers, and those on a diet that want to satisfy their sweet tooth without going overboard. The hubs always goes for the usual of strawberry milkshake. He refuses to live wildly by choosing other flavors lol What I love and appreciate is that all the ice cream is made in shop and the flavors are seasonal. Its hard to find homemade nowadays since its easier for a business to go to a distributor, and then sell it in shop. I could taste the freshness, and the tartness of blueberries mixed in with the cheesecake. The cheesecake was soft with crumbled graham crackers swirled within. I usually gravitate to anything cheesecake ;) The strawberry milk shake was thick, cold, with strawberry bits making it refreshing and satisfying. I am a huge fan of Cone Slingers! We saw this while we stopped by a local market and had to stop by! First off - this place is adorable. When you step inside, it looks like you stepped inside a saloon and you're in one of those western movies. HA! This local place makes their all of their small-batched premium ice cream, right on the premise! They do have about 20-25 flavors available, including seasonal flavors, but they do sell out quickly, especially during the summer! I tried their Banana Nightmare (ripened bananas with buttered toast, fresh ground peanut butter, and sweet cream) and their Six Shooter Skink Coffee (coffee toffee ice cream with nuts) - OMG, these were SO DELICIOUS! They were super creamy, super flavorful, and I just couldn't get enough! Usually, even with good ice cream, I can't have more than a few spoonfuls - for these, I licked my cup clean! Don't be shy in asking for samples to make your decision - you might have to go for 3+ flavors, though, as all of them are so good!
