Better Business Bureau complaint: These people are a "family" owned business yet don't want to acknowledge the damages they did to our truck by their employee. I made a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they said they have reached out to Farmer's Nursery multiple times but they have yet to respond. If they cared about their customers and wanted to keep them, they would own up & pay for the damages they caused. I would be very cautious of this place. Very sketchy, rude & unprofessional owners.

I am grossly disappointed with not only the 2 pallets of grass we purchased but the "solution" offered to us. We purchased a pallet and a half a few weeks back and we're pleased. We just purchased two pallets and it is the worst! Not only was the middle of the pallet bone dry and yellow but the cuts were terrible. They actually put pieces that were less than six inches long and three inches wide. There was no uniformity nor consistency. There were holes in the middle of a hood amount of pieces and even nutsage growing on a few of the pieces. If the grass we got before wasn't so darn good I wouldn't be as angry. I contacted the manager and was told I could bring it back and they'd order more. Unfortunately I have to lay sod for this customer this weekend. They offered no other solution. I am now having to refund my customer for 3/4 of a pallet. We were happy to shop local instead of going to the grass outlet in Austin and even pay a little more to support local. But not if the product does not stand up to the quality we were guaranteed. I am so disappointed.

Located…read morein Leander, the nursery has an amazing selection of trees and plants and I was able to find everything that I was looking for on my list. I am working to naturalize the yard and install more native plants that can withstand the hot summers of central Texas without requiring a lot of water. Terry, the owner, is super helpful and accommodating. He has a wealth of knowledge about which plants and trees will do well here in the Texas heat. The prices are very reasonable and considerably less than the nurseries in Austin proper. Terry had his guys deliver and install the trees and plants. They were on schedule, fast, and neat and cleaned up all of the mess before leaving. The trees have a guarantee too so I know that they will be okay or will be replaced if they don't catch on. Great service, highly recommended.

But sure enough, I spoke with Terry and he was super knowledgeable about everything, answered all of our questions, and invited us to come take a look the following day. We drove out and the farm was beautiful. Bought 3 45 gallon trees and opted for their installation services. Two weeks later their crew arrived right on time (early actually) and were wonderful. Did an incredible job and now we have new trees in our backyard. This is one of those companies that makes you want to go back and buy more. Don't hesitate with these guys. It's worth every penny, and to top it all off, they are even reasonably priced.

Outstanding service and value. Wondering why we didn't do this years ago…read more Miles Click was exceptionally helpful.

This fancy-pants "nursery" in North Austin offers financing for your project (or partners with…read moresomeone who does). That should tell you: it's looking for customers with fat wallets. I asked if they were a native plant nursery on the phone and the salesman responded "we guarantee all our plants, so we wouldn't be doing that for plants that won't grow well here." NOTE: That is not an affirmative answer--it's an evasion. Selection is limited to medium to large containers, and well-established trees in MASSIVE containers (those certainly require delivery, I'm thinking). No seedlings or small containers, that I could see. This was a huge disappointment, since I was led to believe I was going to a native plant nursery, and that I would be offered assistance and advice. Neither turned out to be true. This nursery really wants you to buy into letting THEM do the work for your "project," from design to installation to maintenance. If you've got unlimited cash to burn and you want to pay them to maintain their work, go for it! This doesn't feel like a place where you can come as a gardening novice and get advice and ideas--what you're going to get (assuming that someone decides to speak to you while you're there--someone did speak to me in fact, to tell me nicely to move out of the way) is an upsell--or a brush-off, if you're deemed too small-fry to waste their time with you. Of course this impression is formed by a few minutes on the phone where the SALESMAN (not gardener, not plant expert) encouraged me to bring in photos of my yard so they could help with the design, followed by an excited trip to the nursery, and discovering that what's here is mostly large containers, lots of very large trees (get three large trees for only $10,000!), and lots of (I think) non-natives. Don't come here if you want to learn how to do things yourself. If you want full sized trees to plop into the ground and someone to do the work of maintaining them, or you really like the idea of financing an instantly landscaped yard without having to do anything but open your wallet or going into substantial debt--then Moon Valley may be just the place for you.
