This is a long one, so strap in! For anyone who wants the highlights: I wasn't briefed on anesthetic, I woke up during the procedure, it gave me nerve damage, and I was summarily and condescendingly dismissed. Dr. Farnad performed wisdom teeth extraction on me (all four) at my dentist's office and I can say with complete confidence it was the worst dental/medical experience I've ever been through. From minutes before the procedure to now weeks later it has been nothing short of traumatic. However, I have been reassured that my experience is 'completely normal' for this doctor, so I figured it would be in the best interest of anyone who wants to know that I share a little of what you might be in for! Before going into the exam room I was given multiple pages to fill out and sign, with the anesthetic portion left blank, I let the receptionist know that no one has discussed this with me so I didn't know what to write. She let me know that they would give me the full run-down when I got in with the doctor. Reader, this did not happen, sorry to say. I got into the room and within minutes monitors were placed and an IV needle was inserted into my arm. I'm not good with needles so I looked away when Dr. Farnad inserted the IV, and subsequently pushed whatever medicine it was that he gave me. Again, I want to stress, I had no idea whatsoever what was going to happen to me, so imagine my surprise when I WOKE UP in the middle of the operation. I learned later that I was given IV sedation, so I was never 'all the way out' but wherever I had gone during the first half of the extraction, I was definitely back. I remember every part of it: my hysterical sobbing, Dr. Farnad telling me to stop fighting him or it would take four hours, the male assistant brought in to hold my head still, my apologizing for fighting but 'it hurts so bad', then him giving me another shot in my mouth as he continued to have to break apart one of my wisdom teeth. At no point was it acknowledged that I was most definitely back in the room with them until afterward the assistant said, "huh, so THAT'S oral surgery," and when I responded saying that was an insane thing to announce to a patient, he commented to the other assistant "I'm surprised she's so alert," to which she said "Yeah, but she'll be out again as soon as she's in the car." Reader, again I have to inform you that this did not happen. Now we're weeks out from the surgery, and I'm experiencing absolutely mind blowing levels of nerve irritation in my chin. I went back in to speak with my dentist who let me know that it sounded like nerve damage, between the numbness and the painful tingling. (Note: the dentist brought up the nerve damage, not me.) Today I had the displeasure of going to a follow up with Dr. Farnad who showed up for our appointment an HOUR late. When I brought up the potential nerve damage he immediately dismissed me with a condescending "Oh so you let the internet scare you." Then he let me know that this kind of numbness and nerve pain was so common with his patients, he sees it all the time, and that the pain and numbness will be gone within the next two and a half months. He then asked the assistant for x-rays to see how it looked internally. This was when I really began to question his competence, because while looking at my x-ray he said: a) he left a cap in to not disturb the nerve, b) did not leave a cap in, he left a bunch of room for the nerve, c) was unable to tell if he had done a bone graft for me, and asked if I had paid for one to settle the matter. He then gave me his personal phone number and encouraged me to stay off the internet, because it's only going to scare me. Well sorry, I went back on the internet. read more

I'm terrified of any dentist. Most of my procedures I have to be completely sedated. I have medical and not many oral surgeons take medical so I was very great full that I found this place. The office in general is super busy so expect to wait for all appointments. The girls in the office are amazing! I needed a tooth extraction with sedation On the day of my appointment the anesthesiologist was the one that came out and got me she was amazing she was so loving and caring and she took the time just to talk to me and make me feel comfortable she immediately gave me some thing within three minutes to help me calm down and then I was completely knocked out for the procedure I didn't know anything that was going on it was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend this office! 10 STARS FOR DR. FARIBORZ FARNAD!! I was referred for the removal of all 4 of my wisdom teeth. From the very beginning, when we met, he explained what will happen during the treatment and made me feel like I was in great hands. On the day of the surgery, I was very nervous, however Dr. Farnad and his team made me feel very comfortable and easily put me to sleep. I woke up feeling no pain and the best part was, THE WHOLE PROCEDURE TOOK 20-30 MINUTES!! Aside from his reasonable price, I was also given a paper with pre-op instructions before the surgery and another one for after surgery that clearly instructed on what to do and expect. My husband went for his appointment to extract his tooth. Dr.F did not even offer him regular sedation. They asked for $970 to do the extraction with anesthesia. They wanted to double dip to take money from dental insurance and the patient. They are money hungry. Dr. Could care less about the patient, cares only money and it's all business. read more

If I could I would give this doctor 20 stars. He is not only an amazing dentist but a true caring individual. He has helped out me and my family several times and it has always been an incredible experience. I had him remove all four of my wisdom teeth without any pain or discomfort. I went on vacation the next day and didn't feel a thing. Lots of doctors can remove wisdom teeth but the thing that made this extra special is that one of my wisdom teeth was infected and so he squeezed me in between his busy schedule and not only did he remove the infected tooth but also removed the other three on the same day. I went to dr fariboz farnad for tooth implant. First of all, dr fariboz is very caring, when i was searching for a oral surgeon that was the most important thing i was looking for. For the consultation he took his time to explain me the the whole procedure so i know what exactly i will go threw, work wise and money wise :) . Went today for an appointment regarding my tmj in my jaw and it was the worse experience ever... he treated me like I was a waste of time and was very unprofessional and told me the reason why my jaw hurts was because I am a caregiver for my boyfriend and the tension in my neck and shoulder was causing my jaw pain to do stretches and see a chiropractor really. Unbelievable never again will I go to the dr or recommend him to anyone else.. very disappointed in how u was treated as a patient. And to see him just throw my medical chart on the receptionist desk was unprofessional too and seeing him degrade his assistant in front of me was unprofessional too he shouldn't of embarrassed her like that I wouldn't work for someone like that at all. It has been over a month and a half since I received my referral and I have not been able to even get someone on the phone despite numerous phone calls and at least 4 voicemail messages. I have not heard back from them despite leaving detailed and clear messages. I have called 4 times just this morning and I have not been able to get through to anyone. Horrible dental office!! They scheduled my son for a 10:30am appointment and we came in signed in, right after me 2 more people came in and signed in saying they had a 10:30 appointment as well. The waiting room was so full people had to wait outside the office. We waited for an hour and a half before I got up and said to the receptionists taking calls and making appointments, is there only 1 dentist for all these people here? She said yes, I then said then why do you scheduled all of us at 10:30 if your not going to take us in until past noon? She said no we don't schedule all you at the same time, but I had clearly heard all them say 10:30 when signing in!! I told the receptionists in that case you should of scheduled me at 12pm if that's when your going to take my son in. She ignored me and didn't answer me at all. We waited and waited until they finally took him in after waiting 3 and half hours!! I will not be coming back to this place ever again!! I don't even know why this dentist even has a business in the first place. It seems to me they are so greedy in taking so many people in one day that they don't care if they schedule 3 or 4 people at the same time as long as they are getting their money from the insurances and people! I got my wisdom teeth taken out about a week ago here. I was absolutely terrified before the surgery but right when I walked in everyone was very nice and welcoming. Dr. Fariborz Farnad was absolutely hilarious and kept a smile on my face the whole time. The assistant, Kyleigh, was very comforting and sweet! So I had to get my wisdom teeth taken out. I was referred to this place however I was really bummed out when I found out that this was the only place I would be able to be seen because of my insurance. Anywho.. so I made my first appt (evaluation).. right when you walk in the girls up front seem irritated with their jobs but that's not it, Dr. Farnad was by far the rudest dr I've ever had. I get it my appt was late in the day but cmon man at least be professional.. you're still on the job. During my visit he explained to me that I had to get all 4 taken out bcz that how they do it there..and I had to get sedated. Keep in mind that only the top ones were out and were bothering me.. so I explained to him that I'm diabetic and he tells me to not take my insulin the day of surgery.. excuse me? Ugh what an ignorant guy.. I've been insulin dependent for 15+ years and for him to say that was ridiculous. As I'm about to leave he walks out before me and he disappears. I look at the girl in the front desk and she hands me out papers for the surgery. I eventually got it done(all 4), post op appt was again absurd I had to ask him to remove my stitches.. he seemed to have forgotten that I had them. Overall this place seems like your a burden to them. They don't make you feel welcomed. read more

GO HERE!!!!!! Dr. Farnad is the BEST surgeon i have ever met it is the one in Oxnard on Solar dr. She took out all four wisdom teeth, two impacted under my jaw bone and close to a nerve. The surgery went so fast and smoothly! She put me to sleep by IV sedation and fell asleep within seconds. I woke up with no bruising and my healing process is going great. I definitely recommend anyone to go here. She also takes gold coast insurance! I am so thankful to have her as my surgeon. The staff is really nice and organized. The office is clean and welcoming.
