Was referred to Dr. Jacobs for a tooth extraction by my regular dentist. My last tooth extraction took about 45 minutes to do and needed several injections of novocaine so I had a lot of anxiety about being here. I was first taken back by Nicole who was very nice and very professional. I was also impressed by the friendly staff and the positive office environment. I then met Dr. Jacobs who explained the procedure and I was really impressed by his confidence, it put me at ease. After 3 injections he began the procedure. He worked on the tooth for about 5 minutes then looked at me and said he was done. I was shocked, I couldn't believe he removed the tooth so fast and with such ease. Overall a very good experience. I had wisdom teeth removal here and it was an amazing experience. I don't do well with doctors or surgery or needles or anything like that, but everyone on my team was so nice and reassuring. They wiped my tears for me and held my hand when the doctor put the iv in. I'm a very hard stick and he got it in on the first try! They answered all my questions thoroughly, and explained every step of the process before doing it. I have a broken hip, and they made sure I was very comfortable before they put me to sleep. Office would not see my son who is in alot of pain. Had dental office call for oral referral and they still would not see him. Horrible place to go if your in need of a oral surgeon for an emergency. While the staff is very friendly, the experience was outrageously and unnecessarily painful. I have never been afraid to go to the dentist and needles do not bother me under normal circumstances. The surgeon was friendly, but he didn't use any topical numbing and he didn't wait after the first shot to let it take effect before doing the other shots. It felt like I was being stabbed over and over again. The second appointment was also terribly painful. My mouth was swollen for nearly a week the first time. This time, it seems to just be bruised. I have always been terrified by dental work. The buzzing and drilling, don't get me started on water and air. Well my mouth didn't care about my feelings towards dental work. Sunday, in the middle of this global pandemic my wisdom tooth decided to be angry at me. From the swelling and excruciating pain, I had not been able to have a meal without prepping my mouth with oral gel and taking something for pain. I called Monday morning to Pacific Oral Surgery in Ventura to explain my situation and understanding availability might be tight with everything going on. Monica was very sweet to work something out for me that Friday. My appointment turned into a consultation that gave us time to prepare for 2 extractions with a side of sedation . (Ps I was born with only my 2 lower wisdom tooth) We created a care plan for my not so happy wisdom tooth. I obviously don't remember much but I was able to have brief interaction with the staff scheduled for my procedure and they were great. I was so nervous I could not stop talking. I'm not going to lie and say I am pain free. However thanks to the amazing care I received I am comfortable and onto recovery. I strongly believe that the care from your dental or health provider is the key to recovery. Being one that is filled with anxiety when it comes to dental procedures from cleanings to fillings,imagine how I felt when my dentist said I had to have 2 of my wisdom teeth extracted?! Dr Carlson explained that when being put under "Twilight anesthesia" I would not feel or have any recollection of the procedure. In fact when being brought out of the anesthesia, I asked if it was finished... This was the best dental procedure I've ever been through! My consultation with Dr. Carlson was covered by my insurance; therefore, no out of pocket charge for the consult. During my consult Dr. Carlson (& his amazing assistant, I forgot her name) took their time and explained all of my options. Next, their billing person provided me with a written estimate of all of the costs which came out to be 100% accurate (that never happens)! I took Advil after arriving home and into the evening on Wednesday and woke up Thursday with just a bit of soreness but nothing that required any additional Advil. I'm shocked! How did I get 2 wisdom teeth pulled out of my head and not have any pain? Amazing! The best part is I arrived for my 11:30 appt and was back in my car at 11:50! Both offices have wonderful staff, quick consultations, even quicker X-ray technicians. Everyone I met there was lovely. I had my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Carlson. I have beyond difficult veins when it comes to the IV, and he was quick, efficient, and painless with just wonderful bedside manner. Same with his nurses, just great. Professional yet they do not make you feel like you're just another patient! The surgery itself was done beyond fast and with little to no pain. He did an extraction on one side and an implant on the other side of my mouth. During the procedure there was no pain and I was extremely comfortable. Wonderful Dr. and staff! After going to a consultation with a different Oral Surgeon in Oxnard and tentatively scheduling the procedure, I felt like I needed to explore my options. I wasn't greeted in a friendly manner, and for me, working in the customer service field, that is extremely important! I don't want to feel like a number! When I looked online at different reviews for Oral Surgeons, Dr. Jacobs popped up and I immediately emailed his staff to schedule a consultation. I had emailed 4 other offices, and his friendly receptionist, Monica called me within minutes of sending the inquiry. She was very friendly and fit me in right away. When I arrived for the consult, I was pleasantly surprised as to how clean and orderly the office was. There wasn't a big crowd of people, I didn't have to wait 20 minutes to be seen and I was greeted in such a welcoming manner. Once I was checked in with Monica, a few minutes later, Soco the assistant, led me in to a room to ask a few questions before Dr. Jacobs went over my x-rays with me. She was so sweet and made me feel at ease! Dr. Jacobs came in and went through my x-rays more thoroughly than my own Dentist had, and really made it clear as to what would be done with the wisdom tooth procedure. At the end of the appointment, I asked Soco if she would be there for the surgery. She said, sure! So, a few weeks later, I arrived for my procedure, and there was Soco! She made me feel like everything would be okay, and Dr. Jacobs came in and made me feel at ease saying everything would be fine! Before I knew it, the procedure was over with, and I was on my way home to recover. Nearly 4 days later, I am feeling pretty good, not in very much pain, and so happy that all 4 wisdom teeth are out and that I do not have to worry about them causing me any trouble!
