Dr. Wong has been handling my case for almost 2yrs. He did a soft tissue augmentation for my bottom gums. It was due to never taking my lip piercing out. It made an indentation over the years and in 2023 I saw him on an emergency b/c when I was eating some chips b/c of my over bite it slit my gums. It was the worst experience I ever had in life, but going to him and his team made it the best. I started in the Ventura location, but recently visited the Santa Barbara one. If you ever need a periodontist he is your man. He and his team are the best!! Marleni was phenomenal! To say they have good customer service is an understatement. Dr. Wong removed a front tooth and did a bone graft in preparation for an implant. Thankfully based on my consultation comments he recommended sedation which made the procedure seamless. After a few months I had my implant post put in and he noted the bone grew well and it is day two and I have no pain, no discoloration no redness. He is an extremely knowledgeable and skilled professional. He listens and explains what he is doing and going to do. He also has a good sense of humor. I was extremely sick in December, before covid 19 erupted. I had to cancel several appointments due to what I thought was a flu complicated with breathing issues, which would have made a teeth cleaning virtually impossible. Because of these issues, I needed to cancel a couple of appointments. Please be aware that they will nickel-and-dime you if you need to cancel, even if you are sick! I had been a regular here for a bit. I canceled the appointment well within their 48-hour time frame, due to what I thought was a flu complicated with breathing issues. They still charged me $100 cancellation fee. Wow, what kind of place does this when you are going through a crisis?!?! Unbelievable! Exceptionally professional and skilled, and exceptionally kind is how I would characterize Dr Jonathan Wong and his staff. Prior to my periodontal surgery, both Dr. Wong and his anesthesiologist, Dr. Alanes separately went over my medical history with me and they each answered any and all questions I had of them. Their detailed and careful approach prior to my surgery left me feeling comfortable and confident undergoing surgery. Following surgery, I was provided excellent post-op care and instruction. Any questions I had were answered readily and thoroughly with very individualized attention. Modern office, modern techniques, professional staff and that's just the beginning. I was in pain and needed a tooth extracted. The original plan was to replace the molar with an implant. I was extremely nervous during the first visit. Not only did Dr. Wong calm my nerves he took the time to explain the entire procedure along with possible actions to take following the extraction. Since the extracted molar was the last tooth on the lower right side of my mouth I found that it didn't affect my chewing. I said, "I think I'll pass on the implant." There was no hard sell, he accepted and agreed with my decision. read more

Stay clear of Dr Wong. He does not know how to prescribe antibiotics appropriately and will only suggest Advil and Tylenol for prolonged and severe pain. He may (or not) be an excellent periodontist for routine patients. I was not routine. His staff calls you. And then he blames his staff for miscommunication. I suffered extreme pain and progressive infection resulting in maxillary, ethmoid and frontal sinusitis treated in ER after a tooth extraction. 2 months of pain, no sleep, weight loss, fevers, lost Xmas and New Years, as well as humiliating treatment. I am going to add that I am an RN and FNP. I am 70 yrs old and have never been treated with such neglect from a mutual professional in my life. Also, every dentist I have ever had has called me personally after a tooth extraction. The ER report says it all, then I was reprimanded for going to ER by "Dr. Death". Dr Wong and his entire staff are extraordinary. Dr Wong explained what he had to fix my problem. I thought I was going to faint because it sounded off the chart painful. You know the pain cart you see in Dr's offices showing a scale from 1-10, well this sounded like it was an easy 20. I needed a tranquilizer to get me through the rest of the explanation (kidding). He said to trust him and that it would not hurt at all. How can cutting bone from my jaw not going to hurt? So the big day arrives and I brought a change of unmentionables just in case some unwanted major event occurs. He numbs me and he thinks it is enough. No way- hit me again. A little while later he says he is finished. Ummmmm huh? No pain? What the heck!! He said take some Advil if you need it and stay on a soft diet for a few days. Soooo there was no need for Advil and I was ready for some regular food within a day or two. Dr Wong is a miracle worker. I had several follow up visits and a few special cleanings during the year. The front office and back office did an excellent job dealing with the usual insurance stuff. They compliment each other and are a super great bunch of professionals. I went to Dr. Wong for a gum graft because my dentist recommended him. Turns out his wife is my dentist. I found that quite unusual. I went in to get the gum graft and the front office told me I had to pay $1100 upfront even though my dental insurance covered 80%. Because I was out of network which they never told me beforehand . I proceeded with the gum graft and was told to take just tylenol. I left in horrible pain and called to explain how unbearable it was. He didn't offer me anything for pain and I had to beg him to help me. I couldn't eat, barely talk or sleep. I was concerned about infection because he didn't offer me antibiotics either. He said I didn't need them. I called again because I had to miss work because of the pain, he had me come in and didn't do anything except clip a stich. The stitches were cutting into my tongue causing horrible blisters. I left feeling no better. The graft looked like a tumor and infected. I then decided to go to another periodontist who got me in as an emergency. He said my mouth was infected and that the gum graft was no good and needed to be redone because of the poor work he did. I am so glad I found this new periodontist who actually cared. I highly recommend you go elsewhere and stay away from this Dr. Wong. He is not empathetic and only cares about money. read more

THE MOST PAIN I HAVE EVER FELT IN MY LIFE! Do not use this "dentist". He almost killed me by not pulling my tooth correctly. I went for a simple extraction in order to replace the tooth with an implant. Dr. Wong MISSED A ROOT! I spent approx. 30 days in excruciating pain. I would call the office and they would say "It should heal in 3 days" but of course what really was happening was THEY MISSED A ROOT and it ABSCESSED and got so INFECTED that when I would brush my teeth WATER WOULD POUR OUT OF MY NOSE! I was in TERRIBLE pain. I could not leave the bed. I could not eat. I would literally pass out from the throbbing. I begged. I pleaded. They finally said to come in on XMAS eve and they took an x-ray. I will never forget the look on the dental assistant's face as she turned pale white as she looked at my x-ray. Dr. Wong HAD MISSED AN ENTIRE ROOT! I was unable to leave bed all of December, unable to work, in excruciating pain. THE MOST PAIN I HAVE EVER FELT IN MY LIFE! To add insult to injury because of the abscess, I could not get the implant I had went there for in the first place. The worst dental experience of my life. They did not offer any refund or even an apology! I could have gone to my regular dentist for a simple extraction-AND SAVED THOUSANDS! He only charges $90 for an extraction and then I could have gotten an implant. But Dr. Wong ruined my December, ruined my Christmas (I spent it alone in bed MOANING IN PAIN!). I can't say enough good things about Dr. Wong! I was referred to him by a friend of mine when I found out I needed a graft. I was super nervous because I'm really sensitive to pain and have a phobia of dentists of any kind. First thing I noticed was the super friendly and professional staff. The office was decorated in a zen-like manner which put me at ease right away. The consult with Dr. Wong felt very comfortable, like I was talking to a good friend. He was very thorough in his examination and then gave me all my options on the different grafting techniques and what the pros and cons were. Since I'm a big baby when it comes to pain, I opted for the grafting technique that did not involve going to the roof of my mouth for a second surgical site. Only one surgical site for me! Afterwards, he and his staff informed of everything to expect and I got a follow up call at home to make sure I was ok. I have never had that level of attentiveness or concern from any doctor's office! Now the area I needed a graft in looks like I never needed one there in the first place! Dr. Wong was so good and his office such a dream to work with that I sent my mother from Wisconsin to get an implant from him. I would not allow anyone else to do surgery on my mother. And sure enough, the same level of excellence was experienced again! My mom's dentist in Wisconsin even stated that he wished Dr. Wong was in Wisconsin so he could refer all his patients to him! I am one of those terrified to go to the dentist. I needed gum surgery and was referred to Dr. Wong. Walking into his office for the first time felt like walking into a spa. It was calming. All staff at every appointment bent over backwards to help me get through this experience. I thought I would have some pain, since stiches were involved. Not so. Dr. Wong even has all of his weekend phone calls redirected to his cell. Now WHO DOES THAT? He just called me today after only 5 days and asked how I was doing. I'm so sad i just came across Dr. Wong's page on here! I seriously can not say enough good things about this man or praise him enough for everything he did for me! Though my procedures with Dr. Wong were a few years ago, i still cant get over what a great experience it was! All my life i had messed up teeth, from weird braces, to retainers with "flipper" teeth on them, to missing teeth, to a weird little cone-like looking tooth, i went through it all! Finally at 18 i was able to get my braces removed which meant i was ready for the next step of what seemed like a long and expensive road ahead of me with my teeth. I was so scared of what the treatment plan would be and if id ever be able to afford it. Mind you, i was doing this all on my own! After my braces were removed i was referred to Dr. Wong. I went in for my first appointment all by my little ole' self. As soon as i walked in i felt a sense of relief! His office is state of the art! And down right beautiful! So relaxing. His receptionist at the time (Elisa - super sweet) welcomed me and made me feel right at home! After that i met with Dr. Wong and he looked over my teeth and began explaining the process of fixing the areas i needed fixed. I had two gaps in the front of my mouth, worst place right, one gap didn't have a tooth, the other had that weird cone-like tooth in it. He explained what we would have to do in order to make my gum line look the way it should because it came down too far on one side, which meant bone graphing, after all that was said and done, i would also need an implant on one side, and a Maryland bridge on the other, sounds like a lot right? well it scared the crap out of me too! haha. But because of how professional Dr. Wong was about this entire situation and his envy of me for deciding to go through this process with out my parents help, helped me decide that his treatment plan was the best route to go! I had my heart set on finally fixing my teeth and having confidence! All of my appointments went as planned. His staff did everything they could to keep me comfortable. He made many calls outside of working hours and even from his personal phone just to make sure i was doing okay after each and every surgery i had with him! He also worked side by side with my regular dentist (Dr. Valdez) to make sure my treatment plan continued on as it should. Not to mention, years later after the procedures are all said and done with i had an issue with my implant (my own fault, i shouldn't have bit into the apple haha!) I called Dr. Wong and he had me come right in so he could check it out! He has an impressive, extensive background. Hes a very knowledgeable man whose also personable, which is huge to me!
