Literally the nicest owners so sweet! Used to live around the corner and they always greeted me with a smile!!! Coffee was also amazing!!

I've driven pass this corner cafe numerous of times and have had it on my bookmark for sometime now. Today was the day I was going to check it out. As I looked through my yelp bookmarks, it said yelpers reported this place "closed" sad face. I hate when that happens. So I deleted it from my bookmarks. I still need to head over to that area, to my surprise as I drove pass it, it say OPEN!!!! Yay!! I parked on the street and checked it out. Cute cafe!! Handful of baked goods, sandwiches, and snacks. I enjoyed my coffee. Also has vintage clothing for sale and pinball machines. It was fairly quiet when I came by. I also has an almond croissant which was also delightful. Overall I really like this cafe. I will drop by again if I am in the area. read more

Both barista and cashier are lacking of customer service skills. There was zero smile. Just quick "yea yea". The service is bad to the point I feel like I walked into the wrong place. What a cute place and even cuter owners! We were immediately welcomed as we walked through the door. Ordered some coffee and breakfast and decided to eat in as we were the only ones there. The coffee was very nice and not too burnt/acidic as a lot of places are, and the food was delicious and their ingredients tasted very fresh. One thing I loved about this place was how neighborly it felt as people started coming in for their coffees but were also catching up with the owner. So lovely. Will definitely be back. read more

I had a crazy dream that a coffee bar would appear on this corner --- and it did! Not just any cafe but a sweet and genuine, for-the-love-of-the-bean kind of shop. I now have a feeling this friendly little spot is going to become a neighbourhood phenomenon. Serving up Origins coffee and treats from East Village Bakery and Black Rook Bakehouse, just up the street. (with some gluten free nummies too.) I was recommended this place by another yelper on August 14th and book marked it for future reference. They close at 3 pm on the weekday, therefore, that was a challenge to get to. I had to wait for the weekend. The initial reviews on the London Fog is what also encouraged me to check this place out. I came here to work on my zine and some holiday crafts for a few hours before heading to some craft fairs later that day as well as selling at some fairs. Thankfully it was sunny as the sun shone inside making me feel good. There is a lot of window space. There's a large communal table which is perfect for large projects. It is also an easy way to make friends. Limited selection on the menu but they make whatever most coffee shops provide in terms of drink preparation. Bonus is that they have a mini arcade in the back. I played a few rounds of AC/DC pinball while sipping my LF. Prices are very reasonable and cheap. read more

Unfortunately, Far Out no longer sells these ethereal cookies (and the woman was quite rude about it when I called to inquire, for some reason). What a loss to the cookie community in Vancouver! (kind of joking, but not really) However, their coffee is much better now - I had an awesome cappuccino today in one of the most beautiful ceramic mugs I've ever seen at a coffee shop. I will totally come back for the coffee now! The big table is fabulous for working, and there's some relaxing greenery in there. However, the pinball machines are deeply irritating. So loud. Anytime there is a break in play, it is sweet sweet relief. But then a new game starts and I find myself audibly grumbling. Maybe the volume could get turned down on them? If I come back to work, I will bring big noise-cancelling headphones. I kinda feel like that shouldn't be necessary, but ... it is. This is the only reason my rating has gone down. read more

Took me a while to get myself inside here- I used to live in this area but moved. A friend lives nearby, and took me here- it doesn't look like much from the outside driving by. Far out Coffee Post is a really great place! Nice space with small tables, and then a larger room with a long, wooden 'library' style table- nice, clean and trendy looking. Excellent coffee and their breakfast sandwiches and baked goods look divine. There was a lineup outside when we left- deservedly so. There isn't a cool coffee bar in this hood except for JJ Bean- so plenty of room for other indy places like this one. Really nice, friendly staff and they make the best lattes ever. I swear it's a thick layer of creme brulee on the top every time I've ordered one. They offer refill prices on second cups which is nice and a welcome change from the big chain you-know-who shops. read more

Drove past this quaint little place today and decided to give it a try. I like to, when possible, go to a local place rather than a Tim Hortons or Starbucks and I wasn't disappointed. Coffee was amazing. Great flavour. Had the cheese croissant and it too was delicious. Both for $8 which I thought very reasonable. Will definitely be back. So glad I have found a better option for coffee in the east village! Im so sick of JJbean, half the time their coffee tastes like garbage. The other options around here is starbucks... no thank you. This is our go to place for lattes and London Fogs (try with black split almond tea, you'll never be able to go back to earl grey)! The breakfast burrito and specialty croissants are fantastic! They support tons of local artists (find everything from buttons, clothes, jewelry, soaps to spices!) and they have pinball machines in the back! $2 will buy you 3 games. They have even placed hooks outside so you can tie your dog up while you pick up your drink! Sometimes the service is a little awkward but nothing that will make you that uncomfortable. This place is quintessentially East Van in all the best ways. I'll start by saying that I didn't know what to order when I walked in the door. I'm one of those people who fight an internal epic battle between coffee and tea beverages. On this particular day, tea won out. I asked for a London Fog, but asked if I could substitute Earl Grey for Irish Breakfast, as sometimes I find Earl Grey a bit bitter. The guy taking my order asked me to smell the Earl Grey they used before committing to change it up. Turns out, it was amazing. I went with his recommendation and its by far the best London Fog I've had-- hands down. I also had a chocolate croissant as it was recommended as well. The buttery pastry filled with chocolate ganache did not disappoint. So, East Van peeps, rejoice as there is a newish coffee slinging kid in this town with something to offer. read more

I was totally unprepared for how cool this place is. From the front it seems tiny but it opens in back into a big yard. To get to the yard I passed through a second hand Bazaar and a room full of functioning pinball machines! Seems like if I had more time my son and I could hang out here for hours. The vibe is very-slow-paced-East-Van-high-quality-nothing-happening-this is-where-to-go-when-it's-drizzling kinda thing. I come here for the coffee and sausage breakfast burritos, and have been for the past two+ years. However, the staff with wavy blonde hair and her terrible attitude is enough to make me quit this for good. She doesn't say a word, no eye contact, takes your money, and doesn't tell you when your order is ready- just puts it on the counter. It's as though my business is an inconvenience to her. If it was a one-off incident, maybe there's a reasonable explanation. But every. single. time. Coming here ruins my morning. They also recently discontinued their sausage burrito. So disappointed with how this coffee shop turned out. Will not be using their baked goods for office events anymore either. If her demeanour is meant to turn away customers I'd say she's doing a good job. read more

I think this is just what East Van needs in a coffee shop. I'm generally Tim Hortons guy, but I still appreciate a good cup of gourmet coffee. I have been driving past this space on Dundas for years, on almost a daily basis, and not until just last week did Far Out open up, so I popped in to check it out. Very cozy little place, unpretentious, and really good coffee. I'm normally get regular drip coffee, but had an americano cuz I was feeling adventurous. My wife is into her teas and even I was wowed by how delicious her tea was. They have baked goods made right in the neighborhood and sandwiches made on sight. I sampled and enjoyed one of their black bean quesadillas with roasted garlic and cilantro. I think they have a good shot at making this a real success. Good luck Mike and Bob. read more

I was looking forward to visiting this little place that I kept passing by everyday to work. It's small around 10-12 seatings at maximum. Simply decorated with neat artworks pinned to the wall. I ordered a cup of cappuccino to go, though there were also few other food items such as two kinds of pie (one was blueberries I think) and a few food items like grilled cheese among other things. The price was reasonable, food were ~$6.50 and most 6 oz drinks were $3.50. I didn't ask which roasters they use for their beans but my cappuccino was more like a latte? I tasted more milk than the coffee itself. The staff were really friendly, and the place reminds me of all the hole in the wall coffee places in New York. I think there's certainly a room for improvements and it will really stand on its own! read more

The Coffee is SO EFFIN GOOD! A lot of the baked goods here are from Black Rook Bakery (and everything they make is amazing). The morning Glory Muffin, don't even get me started. The shop not only provides great coffee, food and ambiance, but also has local goods (soaps, magnets, pins, jewelry and leather goods) that you can purchase. There are pinball machines and the people there are really friendly. read more

Best Flat White in Vancouver. Hands down. This place also has 6 very well maintained Pinball tables and sells the iconic Hastings/Sunrise T-shirts. Lots of regulars and a really great community feel. Plenty of students come and study here as well. read more

i love this place so much. its very inspiring to see a small business doing so well in an area where there arent a lot of shops. i feel they have captured the essence of what the hastings sunrise neighbourhood is all about. i miss their original menu, but i know it was too much to keep up with in the small space they are working in and one chef. i wish they were still offering some of their original meal items. the coffee is great as well as the baked goods, these guys put a lot of love into their work! read more

Ex-regular. I loved it when it first opened, but after being gone for 2 years and coming back, there's nothing I like about it anymore. Service has always been hit or miss, sometimes you'll get real friendly people, and sometimes you'll get real rude people, just like anywhere else. I feel like the owner hires from their pool of friends though, so I've always gotten a cliquey vibe, which is off-putting. Last time I was in there they had hip hop playing way too loud and the barista was rude when I kept having to ask her to repeat herself because I couldn't hear. There was also a period of about 6 months once where I was going in 2-3 times a week to work on my computer, and every time I went in I felt like a stranger, even though I ordered the same thing and saw the same baristas every time. The vast majority of their employees just seem to lack the most basic customer service skills, and I say this as someone who's worked behind the counter of a cafe before. It's really not hard to create a decent experience, guys. It was tolerable before, but this last experience was enough. Do you treat -all- your hard of hearing customers like idiots? They've also stopped carrying most of their old selection of loose leaf teas, including their chai, which is now a powder mix that probably has a ton of sugar in it. Bummer, because I've been raving all these years about their dirty chai made with the old blend... now it's nothing special. Even though it's a few blocks from where I live, I'll be hoofing it over to Hastings to grab a cuppa from now on. Take your pick, really - better vibes are easy to find. (And Platform 7 has a loyalty program to boot.) Sorry Far Out, but you've changed. EDIT: Apparently rumor has it that the old owner left and all his employees quit on the same day, leaving the new owner to scramble to fill shifts. I guess they don't know how to pick employees that don't have bad attitudes. read more

This place was one of my highlights of my trip to Vancouver. From the outside it didn't look like much, but it truly was a hidden gem. The inside was so bright and open. And the little vintage shop was so cool! I ended up buying an overall skirt and it was not that expensive, certainly cheaper than any other vintage shop (or urban outfitters). The baristas were so nice and commented on how cute the overalls were. Definitely want to come back next time I'm in Vancouver. read more
