One of the few reputable shops that work exclusively on Honda & Acura. If I never have to go to the dealership this is where I will take my Honda without hesitation. If you're reading this and have a Honda/Acura and need service look nowhere else. I think you get great value just from the customer service alone. The service is also wonderful I like the information they took the time to put about the status of the battery and condition of tires. Value information for any driver. I have the utmost confidence taking my vehicle here and that it will be treated with care. The only thing I can think of that's a con is the time available to be scheduled, but that's because it seems they always have work going on! The way I look at it. That's a plus in my book. Robert was very professional and knowledgeable! I went to see to see if they could fix some issues I thought was the starter and he told me that they are actually fully booked for the next 3 weeks and there were already 8 cars ahead of me if I wanted to drop it off. I thought to myself with the amount of cars coming through this would likely be quality work for a great price. He asked me a couple questions and took a quick look at my car. He came back with a small piece for the clutch and it was starting perfectly again! The fix was done in under a minute and he only charged me for the part! It was a lot cheaper than I was anticipating and I saved so much! I would definitely be back! I would recommend calling in to make an appointment first if you can! read more

This shop performed a timing chain and VTC actuator job for me at the price quoted ahead of time and didn't try to upsell me on any extra services. I did greatly appreciate the courtesy of being advised of some issues they found with my power steering pump leaking fluid but at no point did they make it seem like doom and gloom and try to upsell the job. I had the good fortune to visit this establishment twice before writing this review. Yes. Good fortune. Most people dread going to a mechanic, but it seems clear to me that these folks want to do two things: 1) They want to take care of cars. 2) They want to take care of their customers. So the only downside to visiting Far East is that there's not much of an indoor waiting area. There is no free wifi (that I'm aware of), and no free coffee, no nearby café, and no Snap-On posters with half-dressed people holding socket wrenches covering the walls. But you know what? I don't need those things. (Except for maybe the posters.) I don't need those things because it seems clear that I'm always going to walk out of this place with my car in better shape than I left it. And it seems clear that the folks behind the counter are going to give it to me straight. They have been thorough in their assessments, and absolutely superlative in their communications. My 2007 Element now has 281,000. I live in Sandy Springs and went to a local shop for questions. No answers, "just LEAVE the car and we'll look at it". $$, right? I then Googled and found Far East. First, I just had questions regarding brakes and rotors, which I felt they gave me an honest response. My car's engine light came on and since I usually have terrible luck with car problems (ie my previous car's fuel pump malfunctioning during rush hour in the middle lane of a highway), I decided not to wait around for something catastrophic to happen. 7:00 am - Called Anthem Auto in Lindbergh to see if they would be able to help me. They said the earliest appointment was in 7 days, but I could drop off my car and they could take a look at it in 2 days because they were very busy. I told them I would call around and check out my other options. 8:15 am - Called Far East and left a message. 8:45 am - Got a call back from Far East saying they're really busy, but none of their morning appointments have showed up yet and they would be able to squeeze my car in for a diagnostic check if I got there ASAP. So guess what? I GOT THERE ASAP! I showed up around 9:25am, gave them my contact info and handed over my keys. 10:53 am - I get a call from Far East and am told that there are a couple things wrong with my car that need to be fixed. I give the go-ahead, and the man on the other end of the phone says "okay I'll call you when it's ready". I wasn't expecting them to be done the same day and I forgot to ask what day I could expect to have my car back. Well, it didn't matter too much because at 2:30pm, I get another call and they're done! It was amazing. They were so fast and no bullsh*t, which I really appreciated. I'm sure it helped that they specialize in Hondas and probably have many of the parts they need on-site. I am honestly so grateful for the work the Far East team put in to fix my car. They have a customer in me for life (or as long as I am in Georgia...)! read more

I've been having my car serviced at Far East for at least three years. And during that time, I've only had a couple of pricey fixes (I forget what they were but they made sense for my 12 year old car.) I go to Far East for my oil changes, for my brake work, for the time my door lock stopped working, for the time my headlight went out, for the time my A/C stopped working.... You get the picture. I visit Far East regularly. The people who work at Far East are so nice. And very helpful in explaining what is happening with my car. And no matter when I've done something stupid - which has happened more than once, they never made me feel dumb. (And they really could have.) Also, when a repair is the responsibility of the dealer, they've told me exactly what to say to have the dealer fix it for free. My Civic is 12 years old, and I've been going back and forth about buying something new but thanks to the good care my car has received from Far East, it's still going strong, and I'm probably just going to have it painted so that it looks like the well-running, reliable car that it is. I got an auto transmission flush ($166 and change incl. tax). It took an hour, which is typical of other shops. The front lady was friendly and helpful. They don't really have a waiting area. It's a small hall with one chair and a bench. All the people I saw while waiting dropped off their cars so maybe that's typical. It's hidden off the main road so look out for their sign off the street. I haven't tried them for other services but I was satisfied with what I got. They also checked out my steering wheel noise. They said it's okay for now but if the pump needs to be changed it'll be a little over $600. I guess some things will always cost money. I would recommend this place. read more

06/02/2021 Knowledgeable, efficient, friendly and reasonably priced Gee, I'm torn between keeping them my secret 'go-to' and shouting their excellence from the rooftops! (Not that they aren't already wildly popular in my neck of the woods with a certain population.) Took my '98 Honda in yesterday because the brake lights spontaneously came on while the car was parked in the driveway, and wouldn't go off - and ran the battery down. I suspected some sort of a brake sensor light, but what do I know (I'm just a woman -heehee)? Got a jumpstart and tootled over to FarEast - sure enough, they confirmed (no misogyny or 'mansplaining' here), replaced the brake pedal sensor and I'm on my way an hour later, with a new sensor and my bank account untraumatized. Absolute best Honda / Acura repair shop ITP in Atlanta. I've taken my car to Far East several times and they always provide spectacular service. They are honest and transparent. Diagnosis is always excellent, communication is good, and my car always runs much better after going there. Also pretty convenient being near the Chamblee MARTA station. Will this place cost more than some discount shops? Yes, but it's worth it. I've taken my car to other mechanics before and had them misdiagnose things repeatedly or screw something up, so that it was less inexpensive in the long-run to go to Far East. Can't recommend this place enough! If you have a Honda or Acura and you live in Atlanta, you should be taking it here! read more

I was in the market for a place that specializes in Hondas. My 2005 element needed some work. Long story short this place is very knowledgeable, they don't try to upsell everything, are very friendly and prompt with service and phone communication, and charge a fair price. I actually ended up not needing a major service I had convinced myself I needed. I have found my new mechanics! Thank you Far East. Updated review 8.4.17 So apparently I am the proud owner of a gremlin. I had a check engine light came on, that kept coming on and was an annoying issue. This happened multiple times. Instead of throwing their hands in the air, the techs and Gordon the manager spent a tremendous amount of time working on my vehicle. While the solution was not actually as easy as what the code was reading, they finally figured it out. Many times people get upset about the prices of labor costs on a ticket. Not this time. They treated me like family, and the repairs were way less than expected because they actually care about their customers. I highly recommend. read more

Very long-term customer and have recommended multiple people. Gordon Grey is a perfectionist and scrupulously honest. One time my car had storm damage from trees when at his shop. Gordon paid for and supervised the body work from a 3rd-party more carefully than I would have myself. Another time, he refused payment for a small service item, saying "You have spent enough money with us". Even more importantly, I know that Far East are completely familiar with Hondas, including all of mine, and whatever they tell me about the state of my vehicles, especially cost and quality of repairs, I can trust explicitly. The ONLY place I will ever trust my Honda with (On my third one). Anything involving repairs or major maintenance I take here, and here only. Here's why: --You actually get what you paid for: many mechanics try to undersell you then keep things open on the backend. They may even screw with your car, after they've gained your trust. Here, the prices can be somewhat higher to begin with, but Gordon, the owner, sticks to his quote, and does not do anything to cause me to come back. Because his prices are higher, he is not forcing himself in a position to be dishonest. --On time and on schedule: Never experienced a delay. These guys are clockwork and are very professional. As evidenced by the need to make appointments and the amount of business they generate. Again, they don't promise delivery, to just get your business, then hold you hostage. --Meticulous records: Its almost like going to see your personal doctor. He keeps a thorough record on each car that is serviced (you will see it behind the reception area - the whole area is car records). --A straight answer: I have tested him a couple of times, based on certain "best practices" I heard about. He could have really sold me up on them, but he didn't. He told me what was absolutely necessary and what wasn't. My only wish is that they would be open on Saturdays. read more

Located just outside PDK airport, Far East Motor Works has something not often associated with car mechanics; honesty. My wife and I take both our Hondas to FEMW and they have never pushed for something that we didn't need. Often they will tell you that you don't need this or that. They charge a fair price too. Call before you stop by or drop your car off using the night box. They are often busy so you should call ahead and make sure they can fit you in. My husband found this local shop after my Acura wouldn't start. He found it through Yelp! And there were so many reviews that spoke highly of this local shop. My Acura TL wouldn't start so we decided to bring it here and see what how it would do. They were efficient and friendly. The gentleman up front was straightforward with us and our issue and noted that the problem was the starter. He charged us a reasonable price for the starter and reasonable charge for labor. We left with a working car and also did not feel "jipped". We'll be going back for any other issues we have! I decided to give Far East Motor Works a try after reading some glowing yelp reviews. I had been to several different mechanics in Atlanta, and none of them could figure out what was going on with my Honda Fit. I dropped my car off at Far East in the morning, got a call around 2pm regarding the diagnosis and it was ready to be picked up by 5:30 the same day! New spark plugs and coil packs, the problem is gone and it's like I have a brand new car! We picked this place to work on our Honda because of all the 5 star reviews we saw. We got out Honda Accord towed in and everything was great they told us all we needed was a simple piece that would cost $50 so we're like okay great! We made the mistake of letting them fix our A/C in the car because the very next day after picking up the car, it rained. We went into the store and when we came back to the car, the floor board was completely flooded with at least 4 inches of water. Mind you this car is 15 years old and nothing like this has ever happened and on top of that the windows were completely rolled up. We call them that same day and tell them that now the car isn't starting and it's flooded with water and they tell us that it's our fault we probably left the windows down or parked in a flooded area but I tell them no it was parked in a normal parking spot as a matter of fact it was parked on a hill. And by this time we had paid them almost $1600 to work on the A/C. So we get the car towed back and they tell us that none of this is their fault and we'll have to pay to get a new computer system now. So now by this time they charge us $500+ for the new computer system so they call us and tell us the car is ready and they also explain how we will need a new battery because the new system will probably drain the battery. So we're like okay great, the day we got the car they somehow left a fuse on to where the brake lights wouldn't cut off. So we call them like hey our brake lights won't cut off and their like oh if you guys bring it back we'll do it for you. So we bring the car back with a new battery and all and they tried to charge us another $150 just to fix something that they did!! By that time my husband was fed up so they ended up not charging us. But long story short this place may be good for maintenance it I wouldn't get anything installed here I mean it's clear that they either installed the A/C wrong or it was a bad part but they didn't care and kept blaming us for everything. read more

Over many years and several Hondas this shop has done very good work at a fair price. I handle all the basic mechanic work like brake pads, spark plugs, filters, oil changes, etc., but have always relied on Far East to do the more complex work like head gasket replacement, steering rack grommets, air conditioning restoration, etc. They recently did the shocks on my Accord -I planned to do the job myself but thought it worth it for them to handle. Very disappointed with Gordan, I would never use such a dishonest man. I was in a car accident and had the repairs done at Reid's Auto Body in Atlanta GA. The body work was done well, however, I brought the car back to Reid's 4 times since I had a terrible vibration in my front end as well as an exhaust smell coming from the engine. Reid's could not find the issue and sent me to their friend Gordon at Far East. Gordon checked out the car and said "Reids did a good job the vibration is exceptable, go get your tire rotated and I dot smell anything." So I took my car for a 3rd opinion from Scott Wallace Certified Mechanic in Norcross, GA. Scott found 1 rear motor mount cracked in 1/2 and he tightened up the exhaust leak. So Scott got paid by my insurance and Gordon gets a bad reputation for not doing the right thing and sticking up for Robby Reid. read more

We've been going to Gordon since we moved here in 1994. We will only buy Honda/Acura cars because we refuse to go to anyone else. He has been honest, reliable, reasonable ALWAYS. At this point we are trying to KILL our 1991 Legend because, let's face it, it's time for a new car. The last time it broke down Gordon fixed it for less than $10 (yes, ten dollars - it was a stupid plastic spacer that gave out - the fact that he didn't spend $200 of his time trying to find that is remarkable to me - he knows his stuff). When our Pilot needed a new transmission, he knew it would be covered by a recall and sent us to the dealer to have it done. Each time he does a tune up, he'll give us a run down of upcoming repairs and how to prioritize them (i.e. he'll say something like "you've got about 5,000 miles left on those brakes" etc). After dropping off my car, I received a call from them informing me of the issue, telling me that it was still under warranty, and I should take it to the dealership. Better yet, they had called the dealership for me, and printed out the warranty and placed it on the front seat. All I needed to do was drive it over. I found Far East about 3 years ago when my Acura TSX was due for a routine 30,000 mile service. Acura quoted me something outrageous, so I decided to look around for an independent Honda/Acura shop. I found Far East online and saw loads of positive reviews, plus they were right down the street from me. I gave it a shot, and have continued to take my car there ever since - most recently for a busted A/C compressor. On that trip, Gordon saved me over $700 by recommending that I use (new) aftermarket parts instead of Acura parts. When I take in my car, Gordon lets me know the life left on brakes, tires, etc. which helps me plan for those expenses. If it's something I can hold off on, he tells me and doesn't try to have me pay for something I don't need yet. I don't know very much about cars and have never felt comfortable taking my car to the mechanic. I used to worry that they would try to take advantage of me and rip me off - not anymore! I'm so glad to have found a mechanic that I trust; even though I happen to live in the neighborhood, I would gladly drive across town to go to Far East. read more

Gordon is THE man and outside of a simple oil change Far East Motor Works is the only place I will take our Acuras for service. It all comes down to trust and a fair price for that service and that's what you get at FEMW. True story: One day I noticed some oil leaking from my Acura and first took the car to the dealer for an estimate. I was told that the engine would have to be taken apart, various parts replaced, and the ensuing price tag amount to $1200. I deferred and on a friend's recommendation took the car to FEMW where Gordon determined the real problem was faulty rubber gasket ring, cost for repairs $80! Needless to say I haven't been back to the dealer since and that was at least 10 years ago. A final story, as my Acura was nearing the 100,000 mile mark I once asked Gordon how many miles I should expect to get on my car. He replied that all of his Honda/Acura owners should get at least 200k-300k miles on their cars. That's peace of mind. read more
