I found Ming's on Yelp with it's already high rating. Went in expecting an oil change, new brake pads (based on last place I went to trying to sell me brake pads), and was thinking I might need new tires. All in all, it was going to be a four-digit day most likely. The short version is: they knew my expectations, and still were up front and honest. Rotated my tires, said I was good there for at least 10,000 more miles. Changed the oil, and said i did not need new brake pads. I was totally prepared for my day to be ruined with an expensive maintenance visit. Instead, I have renewed faith in humanity. (ok, a bit dramatic...but still...). I have been having problem after problem with my car. I had a blown tire, which led to me getting all four replaced. That went fine but since then, I had started to hear a clanking in my back left tire and a whirring noise in the back right. I took my car back into the shop where I had them repaired because I felt it was odd a week after repairing them that I started hearing these noises. They found a loose tire pressure sensor just flying around in the back left tire... but didn't notice anything with the right. I drove across the parking lot and the clanking was gone on the left but the right still sounded horrible. I stopped and searched for a nearby reliable mechanic. I found Ming's with an almost perfect 5 stars and read some reviews from some OTP Elites and knew they were a great place! I drove 10 min down the street here and they immediately were able to help me and at least take a look. I simply explained the problem and they already had a hunch as to what it may be. They took it for a test drive and brought it in and checked it out. Unfortunately, they found the problem was with the differential which isn't something they can rebuild. They sent me down the street to get it looked at and get an estimate. I know nothing about cars, so I asked what kind of price rang he might guess that we'd be in for rebuilding a differential. He was like uhh.. because of course didn't want to say a number since he wasn't quoting me, but I had no idea if that's a 50$ fix, 100$ fix, or 1,000$+. He said probably around 1,500. I took it down the street and they weren't able to look at it right away, so I am still waiting for it to get checked out, but they also said I'm looking at 1,200-2,000$. I really appreciate the quick service here and them helping me find the problem. Even though they weren't able to repair it, they had a great recommendation for a place down the street and helped me put it in my gps. They also didn't charge me anything! Even though my visit was quick they were extremely helpful. The news wasn't great but I appreciate their welcoming staff and very helpful recommendation and at least confirming that there was in fact an issue! Other than one Hyundai dealership, I've never taken my car in for repair anywhere else since I moved to Atlanta almost 7 years ago. I had a clunking noise coming from my steering column. I found out this wasn't covered by any warranty on my car, and I really didn't want to take it to the dealership because their history with me is that whenever I brought my car in for scheduled maintenance, they would always find a few things that needed to be repaired or replaced, many times things that were in reality not high priorities. I first found what what wrong with my car by researching. Found out that this wasn't high priority, just annoying, but I really should have it repaired, just for peace of mind. I called Ming's on Monday, asking if I could get an appointment, after telling the employee what the issue was. He told me what the repair should be, told me that he didn't have the part in inventory that needed to be replaced, and scheduled me for Thursday (today) first thing in the morning so that he could order the part and have it in by the time of my appointment. Today, I arrived, gave him my name, told him the information that he needed and handed him the keys. I didn't sign anything. However, I asked him for an estimate, and approximately when my car would be ready to pick up. He told me the estimate and that it should be ready in about 2 hours. An hour and a half later, he called me while I was at a nearby cafe, and told me that my car was ready. No more clunking noise! I was very pleased with their laid back manner, knowledge of this issue (if this would've been my dealer, they would've said, "Well, we can't be too sure because there may be more issues with your car."), and it didn't cost more than their estimate. I also didn't find oil/grease stains in my car like I've found many times after leaving my dealership. There were no upsells, or "Hey, we found this issue. Do you want to bring your car back for us to fix it?" Yes, it was a great experience to me. read more

I have gone here for five years and received pretty reliable service I thought. There was a new guy who initially quoted me $400 for two used tires for my almost fifteen year old toyota. I was told I needed brakes which would be an additional $600 or so which was fine. He came back and said it would be closer to $1,200. I was a little uncomfortable but I was otherwise fine with the service until he let me know that the reason why my cost tripled was because the person that did my brakes before did them incorrectly... and that concerned me because they were the last auto shop to do my brakes. $1,400 dollars later, I paid but felt unsettled after that. What took the cake though was that he wrote down maybe 8-10 things I needed done on my car throughout the day. When I asked for a quote of everything that he told me I needed fixed beyond what I had just repaired, he told me he wouldn't give me a quote but could only write down what the issue was without the price. Again, this was not Ming, but I felt a little weird about the lack of transparency and interaction as a long time customer. read more

I got my oil changed here on Friday, 6/30/23. There was only one car ahead of me when I got there at 9:50 am. By 10:05, I was on my way home! Super fast service! I got a synthetic oil change for $60 even. Eric did my oil change and instead of making me go in to pay, he took my credit card and did it for me because he saw I had a baby in the car! So kind! Super fast service and more reasonably priced than other places in the area. read more

I came in to get an oil and filter change (0W-20). They have two different types of oils, one (Castrol) was rated for 5,000 and another (Amsoil) was rated for 10,000 miles. I talked to one of the technicians and he said that most dealerships put in Castrol and then push appointments to 10,000 miles. So who knows what's right and what's wrong? I'm in the market to just be done with all the oil changes, but alas what I dream isn't reality just yet. I got a synthetic oil change for $50, which the dealership was charging $90 for.. in that aspect that's a deal. I also wanted them to inspect my brakes as they were squeaking (and good thing was that it was just brake dust so the brake repairs/changes weren't needed. Even if I did need to change the brakes, it would be $360 and not the $400+ that was going to be charged by the dealership. Needless to say, Ming's will be my go-to for simple oil/filter changes. I would say to follow your maintenance schedule if you're unsure on what you need to do! (Lastly, I would recommend to think of getting your tire services done elsewhere as they started trying to patch a nail in my tire but ended on doing something that isn't accepted in the industry.) read more

We drove all the way from South Fulton to take our car in, as we had the check engine light on and also needed an oil change. Out of every auto repair shop in the greater Atlanta area, Ming has the highest proportion of 5 star reviews, which you'll notice on the breakdown on this page. I called Anthem who also had great reviews (though not as impressive proportion wise) and they wanted to charge 100 to diagnose the check engine light. Mings changed my oil and did the diagnostic for 60 dollars, full synthetic. I know you don't leave tips at a car shop, at least I've never heard of it, but I almost left them a great tip, as I was amazed at the service provided. If I wasn't unemployed right now, I definitely would have left them the tip, but I was cheap in that moment. A 5 star Yelp review though can be worth a lot to a business, so I guess this is my tip! They told me the sensor that caused the check engine light was fine, and they didn't see anything wrong with the car at all. I could feel that the owner is a good person, and his employees all seemed really nice/honest as well. I just felt like I was in great hands, and I really trust these guys. I would recommend making the long drive if this isn't that close to you, because the value of having a trusted mechanic work on your car is the best. Love this place. They have been taking care of my 2004 Yukon XL Denali for a number of years. It is refreshing to find an honest, knowledgeable and friendly auto shop. How many shops do you know that would tell you about an issue with your vehicle but then advise you to wait to do a repair or not do a repair at all because it isn't worth it. The vast majority of shops just pad your bill with as much as they can convince you or scare you into spending. I always feel like Ming's looks out for my repair expenses as if they were their own. And when repairs are completed, they are done efficiently and at great prices that tend to be below most other repair shops. Vincent (owner) and Joe (mechanic) are great guys and are SMART. I'm not sure how I haven't reviewed Ming's Auto Service before now. I truly thought I had. This place is the best of the best in auto service centers. Vincent (the owner) and Joe always do the best work on my car. They have an amazingly quick $45 full synthetic oil change that includes fluid top off and quick visual inspection where you're out in 15 minutes or so. They have also done several brake jobs with both my parts and theirs in a professional and timely manner. Most recently, they were able to diagnose an issue that several other mechanics couldn't figure out...something that was unique to my particular make/model (Subaru Outback). They also did an excellent job replacing my rear wheel bearings for an extremely reasonable price. They don't try to upsell you, and always offer their recommendations as to what "really" needs to be fixed, and what you can wait on. They are priced EXTREMELY competitively. They get busy so unless you just want their oil change service (you can also bring your own oil and filter if you don't want their Castrol or Amsoil), I recommend calling ahead. My car was shaking and braking was getting wobbly, so I decided to look up auto shops with good reviews. I have had bad experiences with chain auto repair shops in the past. I saw all the great reviews Ming's had on Yelp and decided to take my car there to get checked out. First off, I needed an oil check so I was instructed upon driving up to the shop to use the furthest lane to the right. I discovered this is where they do their express style oil change, where you can stay in your car if you want to! The technician in the garage filled up the car fluids, while a technician underneath assisted with the oil change above. They worked very efficiently and filled my car up with Castrol, I believe, that was dispensed from an interesting oil dispenser up high above us. I inquired about a check-up on the problems I was having with the performance of the car and was told that they did not have time that day. So, I set an appointment for a few days later. When I came back, Joe, took my car out to find out what the problem was. Upon returning, he told and showed me how one of my calipers was "locked" and how worn down my front tires were. He gave me a no nonsense estimate, which was a fair price, and completed the job within a few hours. Cool thing about this location is, the bakery a block up the road with WiFi and delicious foods to enjoy while you wait for your car to be repaired. I have since gone back to replace some lug nuts that were incorrectly put on my tires from one of those chain auto shops and have a fender out back on. The owner I believe is Vince, and he personally completed this himself. This shop is a no nonsense, good-hearted place to take your car to get checked out, oil changed, and repaired. I am so relieved that my old car will have the chance to live a little bit longer knowing I have a repair shop like Ming's to go to! I would recommend this shop to anyone! read more

I found the reviews about this place and went to a different shop before here, that knows how to work on my car. The other shop tried to charge me up for service. I listened and politely walked away. I called Ming's and they were down to earth and the pricing was competitive and reasonable. While I was getting service, they were honest about missing a part that needed to be ordered. I appreciated the honesty. There was no extra charge. They fixed my car and I paid the same projected price from the start and they worked in the allotted time frame that was told from the start. They also carry the only engine oil that I use, Amsoil. I will definitely be here for any and all of my car issues. read more
