As of this writing, Mobley is seven weeks into their new Tucker-location. Moved away from Decatur after something like fifty years in that area. The notion that an independent garage/auto-service shop can be in business that long should tell you something. These folks are honest and dependable. They seem to be straight-shooters. There was no attempt to up-sell me on things I didn't need. And they're friendly. I'm picky when it comes to car service. (Can I tell you about my podcast?) I needed one very specific thing done, and they worked me into their busy process. I was told that it's best to get to Mobley early, and I can see why--the daily workload can stack up quickly. These folks were very accommodating which I especially appreciated as 4 other places I called would flat-out not even discuss working with me same-day because they were too busy. It turned out that the problem with my car was different then I expected and so they could not do the work without me leaving my car for longer than possible. they were still as accommodating and helpful as they could be even knowing that meant recommending that I work with a different business. My cars battery light went off on a Monday holiday. I took it to AutoZone to be tested and their battery tester wasn't working right the employee said but still tried to get me to buy a battery. I then went to Firestone and they told me I had to make an appointment to even get it checked. Sigh. Called Mobley and they got me in right away. Turns out it was my alternator. You can't beat the service, price, and customer service here. If you leave these people a bad review, you've got some real issues that you need to fix. These people have the best service in Decatur and probably Atlanta, also. The first time that I came here, they fixed a loose skid plate that wasn't fastened by K & M Motors properly and didn't charge me! I even asked to be charged, and the mechanic 's response was "How about we charge you when we really do something?" I've been back multiple times since. It's been a while since I've been to an auto repair shop, especially a locally owned one, and I'm blown away! Much like my front passenger tire. I blew it out while running errands (I was bumpin' to Selena the Tejano Queen, when BOOM), and I had been dragging my feet to replace it because dealing with auto repairs is never all that fun...but after hopping around from spot to spot for price checks, I ended up at Mobley. The shop is straight up from the 70s, and there's definitely some charm to it. I rolled in, explained what happened, and waited for a bit as there were a couple of customers in front of me - while they couldn't fix me up the same day (out of stock tire), they quoted me a very reasonable price for the tire, including labor and tax, and they would let me know when it arrived. Received the call, went in a couple days later, and got fixed up pretty quickly. I'm still surprised at how inexpensive (to my expectation) and easy the process was. I have a leased car that had an inspection recently and got dinged for tires with low tread on the 2 rear tires, but was quoted over $200 just for the tires! I called around several places and even drove to a few chain car maintenance/tire stores, but most of them tried to push a 4-tire replacement or priced me over $100s for just 1 tire. If this was a car I owned I may have replaced all 4, but it's a lease and I'm handing it in a week... So, I reached out to the owner of Mobley (Donnie) through Yelp and he responded quickly. I told him I needed used tires with some tread and would prefer just the 2 rear ones to be replaced. He came back with a more than reasonable quote for total parts + labor. I drive past this shop all the time and never even knew it was there! Tucked behind near the Dixie Glasshoppers en route to DeKalb Farmer's Market, it's easy to miss. An older gentleman (Donnie's father?) greeted me at the door. As I walked into the shop it felt like I was at my uncle's garage in West Philly circa 1980s: think wood paneling walls, old office furniture, tires with plants hanging on the walls. I instantly felt at ease. No pressure. I ate my lunch in the sitting space and used their free Wi-Fi to catch up on work emails. This place is for you. I have NEVER had such a positive experience at an auto shop. This is now my go-to place in Atlanta, no questions asked. My car journey began last night when I got a flat tire at around 9pm. It wasn't a surprise; I'd been pushing it with the tread on my tires, always "meaning" to get new ones, but so busy with the process of a new job and moving houses, as well as some unfortunate health issues, that I never got around to it. Shame on me, trust me, I know. So I slapped the spare on and decided to try to figure it out today. Mind you, it's July 3rd. Anyway, I call around Atlanta for a while, and everyone is either not answering, can't provide my tire size, or is being a little short with me. Finally, I discover Mobley. It has 5 stars, which is a good sign, and reviews say it's "female friendly." I'm skeptical of mechanics (again, my father is one and warns me constantly of bs). So I called and was greeted by the LOVELIEST receptionist, who looked up my tires and told me they had them in stock and could put them on today. When I arrived about 30 minutes later, I was greeted kindly (in a polite, unassuming way) by two of the men outside. They smiled, said hello, and kept on working. I don't think I have to explain to some women out there how refreshing that was. Once inside, the woman I'd spoken on the phone with helped me politely and welcomingly. Within two hours, I had four brand new tires and a synthetic oil change, all for around $550 (plus a $50 rebate for buying all four tires), way less than what I feared I'd have to pay. I was in and out promptly, given precisely what I asked for, and was sent on my way with kindness and professionalism, all the day before the Fourth of July. No complaints. I could not be happier. Hands down best mechanic shop experience I've had in 13 years in Atlanta! I had two major issues with my minivan, both a washer pump that was dead and a mysterious brake light that I suspected could be a master cylinder going out. After listening to me describe the symptoms and asking very targeted questions about the van's behavior, they estimated the work over the phone politely and very affordably; and when I showed up for my appointment, I was struck by the sincerity of everyone who served me. Their waiting room is also a cool throwback to small town auto shops. Ultimately, after getting it up on the lift, they diagnosed the brake issue as being a rather rare and complex type of ABS pump system failure. The mechanic came out and explained the issue, with a level of care and thoughtfulness I've never experienced at a mechanic shop in ATL. Then, instead of referring me to a dealer, they offered another local mechanic who specializes in ABS (which ultimately saved me well over $1,500). On top of that, he carefully teased out what was up with the washer pump, ultimately and humorously deducing that it was a simple blown fuse. Only charged me $45 for everything they did (including the $5 fuse) , and I can guarantee I will be returning for my future work! Don't be fooled by the old building or sleepy road they're on. This place is a gem. Trustworthy. Skilled. Knowledgeable. And HONEST. I've seen these guys send more people home without charging them than any other mechanic. They will do whatever they can to fix your problem, or at least get you an answer, and if it's something silly or small, as many things are since none of us know anything about cars, they say no problem and send you home. They don't nickel and dime you over labor, they just want to make sure you're safe and fixed up. But it is first come first served, so make sure you get there early or late, but don't be surprised if you have a little wait. I haven't personally, because they're pretty quick, but it does happen. However ITS WORTH IT. I cannot recommend these guys any higher. An honest mechanic is as rare as a unicorn. Go, and don't lose sleep. read more

I was able to bring my car there first thing in the am. I have a 2011 Kia with $125k and needed the brakes done. They did the repair for a reasonable price. I went here today simply b/c I googled "tire repair" places that were close to me. I had a slow leak in my front passenger tire and needed it fixed. Upon my arrival, I was helped right away. I told them what I needed and my keys were taken. They had my car in the garage, tire off, inspected, and fixed all in about 30 minutes. The repair cost only $15. Afterwards, the technician that actually fixed my tire came in and personally handed me my keys back with a smile on his face and told me to have a great day and a happy new year. Small things like this go a long way. This is a small local business in Decatur and I had a great first experience. After my wife's car got a flat last night, I took the tire to Kaufmann Tire in Decatur, where I had bought it and where I had a free tire repair warranty. They looked at it and pronounced it unrepairable, due to a puncture in the sidewall. They further told me that I had to replace ALL FOUR tires on my car because it is an all-wheel drive (total cost $350-650). So I went to yelp and found Mobley Tire, which had very good reviews. I took in the tire and was immediately greeted in a friendly manner; they said they would take a look at it and see if it would hold a patch. 20 minutes later the technician came out to tell me that it was repaired. He said the nail closest to the sidewall (not actually in the sidewall) did not puncture the inner wall of the tire. The other hole, in the center of the tread, was a typical nail puncture and easy to fix. Total cost $15!! The tech even replaced my donut spare in the well under the hatch for me. I highly recommend Mobley Tire for honest, quick, and friendly service by people who don't try to rip you off. read more

I was referred to these guys by Summit Auto Service in Decatur when my car's alignment was in question and I needed two new front tires. It was near closing time when we ventured down to the end of the dead end street and into the old building, run by (as promised) good ol' boys. Don at the front desk was nice enough and took down all the information on paper. Very old fashioned in this age of computers. He did recommend the Cooper tires that they specialize in, but we opted for the cheaper models, which was no problem- no hard sell. I scheduled an oil change- $22- and they would check the alignment for issues. The next day no call came, so around 1pm I called for an update. A lady answered and said they were finished with the car. I was a little irritated that no one had called (thus only 4 stars), and asked if the alignment was worked on. I sat on hold again, and she said that she didn't see any charge for that. So when we went to pick up the car, Don told us that no problems with alignment were found, and the tires were replaced. The cost was exactly as promised, and a week later the car runs well. Overall this seems to be a good tire shop- updates to follow as needed. read more

No wonder this place has been here forever. I was a victim of the ice during Atlanta Icestorm of 2010. The same day I hit a curb and bent my wheel I ventured out into Decatur to find Mobley Tire. I got there 20 minutes before closing time and they still took the time to look at my car. Donny looked at my car for about 10 minutes and told me they would order the wheel and keep my tire so as soon as the wheel came in they would attach it to the tire and i would be good to go. They take the time to explain what is happening with your car, even if it's something not related to the work they are doing that day (and if something doesn't need to be done, they won't charge you). I've now taken my Volvo V70 and Acura MDX there for service & they've taken good care of both. Very fair pricing as well. Best recommendation I can give! Beyond the brilliant service and competitive price I received for new tires, I was impressed that the Code of Ethics was prominently displayed in the lobby. I also overheard a conversation with a young woman who was having trouble with her breaks. She was told that after taking all four tires off and inspecting each of the breaks that they could not see anything wrong with them. She pulled her wallet out of her purse and asked them how much the service would be. The answer she received was, "You don't owe us anything. We are loyal to our clients."
