I was very far away from where he was and he already had clients on the books for the day but he was still determined to help. He told me to call road side assistance and get a jump then call him when I got to Advanced Auto Parts. He told me to get my battery, starter and alternator checked. I did that. The tech was telling me to take it to the dealership because I had a short somewhere. When I called Sam, he spoke to the tech to get all the numerical data. The tests were saying everything was normal but Sam said I had a dead cell in my battery because the numbers were too high. He said I just needed a new battery....he was right. I purchased a battery and was on my way. Absolutely amazed at his expertise OVER THE PHONE. For him to help me and not make 1 dime off of me says a lot about his character. Kevin shared that he was at risk of losing his job and was a lead tech, although listed as the owner. 'Management' also contacted and asked that I take the review down and offered to refund the labor. At this point (2 days later) I had already taken the vehicle to the Toyota dealer, as his 'management' advised the vehicle was complex and initially declined looking at the vehicle without another charge. Toyota Diagnosis: improper fitting and installed spark plugs. Cost: 98$ inspection- which was deducted from repair cost. Repair cost total, including one day vehicle rental, 468.79$. I reached back out to Kevin and 'Management', via text and email, three consecutive days- excluding Sunday, explaining the outcome and requesting a partial refund (spark plugs, diagnosis, and labor). I have not received a response and am now seeking civil action. Receipts attached. Again, the purpose of this review is to bring awareness.

Because this is 1950, eye roll.. Jay is the real deal. Yes, Apna Garage is a modest shop tucked away behind a gas station. But how many mechanics have a legit 5 star Yelp rating? I'll wait.. The reason is because no-one is as honest, humble or as kind as Jay is. You can drop off your car which is very convenient. Jay diagnosed mine and explained everything in plain English without being patronizing. He's very responsive to messages, gave an honest assessment and didn't try to overcharge or upsell me. Apparently, they did not secure a hose well enough, and when it came loose, my engine's intake was filled with anti-freeze. I noticed that one of the workstations in the garage had an open Budweiser sitting out. Maybe that's why they couldn't clamp a hose down right? Adding insult to injury, the mechanic was rude to me in every interaction. It felt like he resented me before he ever even met me. I was paying with a credit card, so I had to go through this poorly lit and grungy room. While in there, the mechanic kept making statements that ended with, "You know how females are." So if you're a woman, you may want to go somewhere else. It seems like they'll peg you as a sucker.
