Dont trust these ppl! I trusted these guys to replace my fuel injectors and fuel pump for vw jetta de. They stripped two bolts on my engine. I guess it's my fault for not checking their work, or discovering their shotty techniques in a timely manner. I paid over $3500 to replace fuel pump and fuel injectors. Recently I discovered stripped ports and working to resolve the issue with another shop. Shop around these guys are amateur hour at best. read more

I had an issue with my car window and came in 20 minutes before closing and he accommodated my last minute walk in. He also texted a week later to check in and make sure my car is fine. I had my car towed to this mechanic because it's. the one my insurance company recommended. 1-I told them what was wrong 2-They had my car for over a week and a half. 3-They replaced the transmission speed sensor 4-They never called with updates 5-They charged me twice what other shops charge 6-They told me that they test drove my car after replacing the sensor and said it was fine. 7-They couldn't have as when I picked it up the transmission was shot and I couldn't drive it more than 20mph. 8-They texted the next day and asked how it was - I texted back and told them about the transmission and that's the last I heard from them I'd like to give them a -5 stars read more

I walked in, showed him my keys and he grabbed them and said I'd be out of there in a couple of minutes. An hour and a half later I asked him was they done with my car. He informed me that they were putting the oil in right now (he was sitting at the front desk). Another half hour later he told me that my car was ready. In between all this I hear gossip being shared with other customers that didn't seem appropriate for a business representative. Black people, the secret to customer support is customer service. PERIOD! After I left my car sounded louder so I checked the oil level and it was low. And my fluids were not topped off as promised. Maybe this was just an isolated incident. I don't know. I was recommended to this shop by a family friend a few years back and had taken my car there 2 times before this time for minor things but this time I had a little bit of a different issue what I thought was complex..the top to my convertible was stuck open.. before taking my car there I called and spoke with the owner Sherman and asked him if he thinks this is something they can fix because I really didn't want to deal with the dealership as most know the dealership can cost a pretty penny! Sherman said yes let me take a look at it.. long story short my car was at his shop for a MONTH..I called several times and Sherman had convinced me he was really trying to figure the problem out and have a specialist look at it..I didn't question it because I had OK experiences in the past and I really didn't know who else to take it to besides the dealership..After a month I finally went to pick up my car and Sherman the owner charged me $250 for a diagnosis but DID NOT figure out the problem..didn't care that I was inconvenienced for a month without my car..all he had to do was be HONEST and say he couldn't figure it out..I ended up taking it to the dealership got a diagnosis for $170 and they were able to fix the problem in 2 days.. This shop will never get my business again. read more

In September I was towed to Sherman's auto repair shop because my brakes went out. Like most car problems, this was completely unexpected and out of budget. When I came to Sherman's auto shop I was greeted with Mr. Sherman's cheerful and friendly attitude. I explained what happened and my situation and the staff and crew made it a very easy process to get my brakes replaced. Mr. Sherman was also very kind and reasonable on the pricing. This is what truly made me want to come back here. I believe I am working with honest people who care about their community. The customer service I received here was amazing. Everyone was so friendly. The service was excellent. They kept me in the loop the entire time my car was in the shop. I drive a BMW and they used OEM parts and I paid 800 dollars less than the dealership price. They gave me recommendations without shoving them down my throat. I wont take my vehicle anywhere else. So I'm going to list this in pros and cons and explain as I go. Pros: + Awesome waiting area - I've been in a lot of auto shops before, and waiting areas are important, but often not paid much attention to when it comes to auto repair shops. I mean, I have been in shops where the waiting room was literally a couch on the side of the garage. This is a tragedy because auto repair usually takes quite some time, especially if they have to order parts for your vehicle. This place, though, has a beautiful waiting area. A water cooler, several nice chairs, a children's play area, a large screen TV, several magazines on topics other than cars, including TIME magazine. There was also a nice bathroom for anyone waiting a while like I was. And on another note, in the bathroom I saw a drawer labeled "feminine products." In an auto shop? It blew my mind. + Good service - I called 3 different auto shops when I was looking to get my brakes done. This one was the only one that actually picked up the phone. They had a regularly manned front desk. The main person who handled the back and forth between the mechanics and me seemed to be knowledgeable about the mechanic side, but also able to deal with customers with ease, which is rare. The rain also started to pick up as I left, so he let me leave out the back instead of having me walk in the rain to my car. + Clean auto shop all around - Not only was the waiting area clean, but the auto shop itself was as well. + Fair pricing and knowledgeable mechanics - All labor and parts are broken down on your bill, and if there is extra work that needs to be done, they will discuss it with you first. It was also nice that they managed to get a picture to show me of the part that needed to be replaced, so I knew they weren't just making stuff up. Cons: + Limited parking at the office - There are only three parking spaces before the mechanic's yard. Two were used when I got there. If anyone had arrived after me, I don't think they would've had anywhere to really park unless they went directly into the yard. In general, this auto shop was very good. For most, the experience would've rated fantastic, however, I'm particularly picky when it comes to auto repair shops. Before I moved to Atlanta, I had a regular mechanic in Oklahoma who was better than any other I've ever had. He was the kind that walked you out to the garage to show you all the problems in person that he found with your car. He also did the job in half the time in comparison to most repair shops. Had he repaired my car on this occasion as well, if I know him, he would've told me the extent of the repair within the first 15 minutes that he was working on the car, and likely had the repair done within two hours. In comparison, it took over an hour and a half for this shop to even ask for my consent for the bulk of the repairs and another 2 and half hours to complete. By industry standards, this shop is still very good, and would be rated probably as one of the best in the area. However, its still not on the same level as the auto shop I had in the past. Therefore, it still left me feeling less than completely satisfied. read more

I was satisfied with my 1st visit & spent about $900. A couple of days later I had to return for a different issue and spent about $190 for testing and repaired with a $17 part.. A couple of days later I returned for the same issue only to be told I need $600 more worth of work done for the previous issue. I'm a little skeptical at this point so I retrieved my vehicle to get a second opinion. Second opinion experience was completely different. I was present for the testing of my vehicle this time and the results from the test which reveals exactly where repairs are needed was never mentioned with the same test codes & test that Sherman's Automotive did. $190 for a $17 part and my vehicle still wasn't right from Sherman's Automotive. It amazes me how the exact same test allegedly was done and the results were very very different. I found a honest mechanic & their prices are 35% cheaper and they STAND behind their work. read more

I have been taking my vehicles to Sherman for many years. Yes, I used to go to the small shop on Lawrenceville Hwy in Decatur!! Yesterday, we took my son's 2014 Charger in due to loud clunking noises from the front end. It turned out we needed a huge repair to the front end. After first authorizing a 1500.00 repair I received a call back to let me know there was more work needed. I said sure, I'll spend 400.00 more. Sherman only charged me for the parts needed for the additional work - NO ADDITIONAL LABOR charged! His mechanics stayed late and finished the car on a Friday night and Sherman met us at the office on his day off (Saturday) for us to pick it up! I have had many great experiences at Sherman's Auto Repair, but this one motivated me to post on Yelp! I went in for an oil change some how he goes from that to trying to charge me $100 for a diagnostic on a problem they didn't identify haha then after I said no just the oil change they refused to do the oil as well.
