I'm an immigrant with English as my serving language. I didn't understand 13 and change meant 1300. I tried to clarify asking, how much is it going to be? He said, "the price I quoted earlier", which in my mind was 160. I would request the staff to quote the figures clearly more than once in words that non native speakers can understand. It feels like they took advantage of me. Feels very icky. And this took almost 4 hours. If you bring the car for a small thing like an oil change, be on the watch for a long process of expensively unnecessary things to be done to your car. Management: before you refute my review and make the point that I agreed to all the services and the new cost, please read the review again. I'm taking responsibility of not double checking the prices with you and probing further on the "the price I just gave you earlier" when you're throwing 17 technical teens at me. BE EXTRA TRANSPARENT when your changes are over 10x an original price. When I was raising my concern after seeing the big bill. Instead of trying to understand but point, this tall gentleman came out to support his staff in an intimidating manner. No empathy for the first time customer. I taken my car to this shop about 9 months ago for abs lights being on. They wanted to charge me $4000 to fix the problem in which they could not find. So I ask for my car back. They held it hostage until we agreed to a $1300 payment. I finally taken it to another shop and paid $500.00 for the repair. I don't get the hype about this business. It is complete garbage. I used to take my Toyota van to the dealership then to Toyotech. By chance, I was looking up Toytech but TLS Motors came up and I accidentally dialed it thinking it was Toytech. In short, I ended up taking it to TLS and I've not looked back. They are not the cheapest because they hire competent caring mechanics who are top notch and like their job. When I go in, I see the same people. In today's world, work is so shabby! We have a Tesla and when there is an issue, Tesla employees could not care less; they are mostly incompetent. One the other hand, Pete and Chris go out of their way to Communicate, so there are no misunderstandings of services being done. I recently took my van in for a tire rotation, and they saw where something was leaking (a crack in an expensive defective part) that they had done many months earlier. It was NOT a quick fix, it was actually time consuming. I had to leave it with them for over a day. This excellent service would never happen at the dealership! TLS fixed it at no charge. Furthermore, as a valued customer to them, I asked them to do something that in general they do not do (add extra lighting). They have earned my loyalty for years to come. Make sure you check your car for any damages before you leave! I brought my car in for service on a Friday and noticed there was a small damage on my driver side door that wasn't there when I brought it in. I notified them of the issue on Monday when I noticed the issue over the weekend. They informed me they can't do anything about it because it had been 3 days...well I picked up my car on Friday when the shop was closing and when I noticed it it was Saturday and they are closed over the weekend, I had no chance to contact them until they were open again on Monday. Of course the technician denied that they damaged it...why would they admit it? They tried to tell me that they had no reason to lie because their policy is that there would be no repercussions if they admit fault...ok good policy but I really wonder if they would admit it after the fact since I really have no proof. Needless to say I would not recommend coming here and if you do, make sure you check for car and take pictures before you bring it in. read more

I can't really compare pricing to other shops - but compared to the dealership when you compare the services that we're identical it seems in line. Definitely more thorough at TLS than if you went to a bigger chain shop or dealership. They were really nice and worked hard to get my car back to me same day. Took in my Nissan Frontier with 240,000 miles on it because every few months it suddenly dies while driving. I met Chris when I entered, and he was extremely friendly and professional. I described the issue, and he told me that it would be very difficult to diagnose given how infrequently it happens. I told him about some of the possible issues I had found online when researching the problem, and he stated that yes, those specific parts can definitely cause that issue, but recommended not "throwing parts at it" which is great advice. I also brought up an issue with intermittent A/C, and Chris said he would be happy to diagnose that problem too, but did also mention that its fall, the weather is cooler, and if this truck isnt going to be around much longer, it may not be worthwhile for me to fix it. I thought that was extremely honest of him as well. In the end we arranged for a full inspection an 1 hour of diagnosis. Sadly but not unexpectedly, they could not duplicate the issue. However, we did get a full report on the truck with detailed photos about recommended maintenance to be performed and a writeup of all identified problems. It was very thorough and honest. Overall, even though the issue it was brought in for could not be replicated and corrected, I was blown away by the honesty and thoroughness of this place, and the professionalism of Chris in particular. Kenny and TLS Motorworks absolutely saved my life. I highly recommend him and let me share why. In July 2020, the engine light came on in my Sonata Hybrid. I had just ran out of warranty, so I was worried about an expensive repair bill. I stopped by Auto Zone for a diagnostic, who gave me an incorrect diagnosis. They recommended that I ordered a thermostat, promising they carried the size for my car, and after 3 days when it should have been shipped in my only one day , I received it. I drove down to my mechanic, who saw that it was not compatible with my car and that I actually had a busted heater control valve. So I left to go to Jim Ellis Hyundai Dealership and my car ran hot and rattled on the way there. I had my car towed to the dealership and told them about my experience with Auto Zone and my mechanic. They told me that it would take 2 days for them to complete the diagnostic. I called them back after 3 days, and it actually took 4 days... after I called them for an update. They completely tried to take advantage of the situation. Jim Ellis Hyundai lied to me, saying that my engine was destroyed and that I needed to get a whole new car....without even performing a diagnostic! And they still charged me! I couldn't get a call from management regarding my experience until I gave them a bad review when they asked me how my service was. I had my car towed home. Across the street from the dealership is a hybrid repair shop, ToyoTechs. I called the store and an employee informed me that they had just began to only repairing Toyota and Lexus hybrids , but referred me to my knight in shining armor, Kenny. He vouched that Kenny had many years of experience in repairing hybrids and that he had repaired 3 Sonata Hybrids within the past 2 weeks. I called Kenny and he answered promptly. I learned that he was the General Manager at Toyotechs for the past 25 years, and now he opened his own shop, TLS Motorworks. He gave me a complimentary diagnostic , as I was one of his first customers. Kenny informed me that I did not have a destroyed engine, but a blown head gasket . I received a highly professional and affordable price quote, and he worked with me because I did not have the entire amount of repairs. He allowed me to keep my car in his shop with no storage fees for one month so that I could raise the money for the repairs !! Thankfully it only took me 3 weeks. Kenny was always available when I had questions . When I got my funds together, I approved the price quote for repairs that he emailed to me, which allowed him the go - ahead. Kenny repaired my car in 3 days! He noticed that I had a sensor out , but he only repaired it with my permission. Also, he only charged me for the part and not the additional labor to repair the sensor. He also changed my oil, gassed up my car, and added air to my tires during his test drive. By the time I got to pick up my car-baby, Sue, she was driving like a dream! Kenny not only did an impeccable job, but he gave me a tremendous warranty and saved me at least $25k by saving my car, instead of a trade in or a full engine repair like the dealership tried to make me get. I will stick to TLS Motorworks for all of my car repairs for as long as I have my wonderful hybrid. Once you go to Kenny at TLS Motorworks, you won't have to ever go anywhere else!! read more

Why doesn't every shop offer this? - Expertise - I had my vehicle serviced at World Toyota in Doraville and two other independent shops, wish my journey had landed with them sooner. - Hybrid knowledge- They were able to actually diagnose the issue, correct the problem and save me a good chunk of change in the process where other shops had failed. All around I will not service my Toyota Prius elsewhere, they have earned my loyalty for years to come. Our hybrid vehicle totally died in our garage, could not get it started and there was no way to get it towed from the garage.
