1 out of 5 stars WARNING: Dangerous workmanship, fraudulent charges, and zero accountability. Read before trusting this shop with your vehicle. I paid $2,590 in January for brake service, including a brake fluid flush. The noise I brought my vehicle in for returned immediately upon leaving the lot. When I came back, a technician admitted they had simply greased the rotors as a temporary fix -- without telling me -- and told me to return when the noise came back. That is not a repair. When the noise returned in April, I took my vehicle elsewhere for a routine oil change. That shop showed me my brake fluid, which was nearly black and sludge-like. The fluid flush I paid for in January was never performed. I was charged for a service that was never rendered. I returned to Pep Boys in April. Over the course of four days, I received no proactive communication despite my vehicle sitting in their possession. I had to show up in person and call multiple times just to get updates. Every promise of a callback went unfulfilled. When they finally called on the day of pickup, I was told the parts they had agreed to use were out of stock -- after my vehicle had been there for days -- and I was asked to pay an additional $65 per wheel for upgraded parts just to get my car back. That is not a customer's problem to absorb. When I picked up my vehicle, the clock was wrong -- consistent with the battery having been drained. When I opened the hood at home to verify whether the brake fluid flush had actually been performed this time, I found a jumper cable clamp left loose in my engine compartment near the battery. When I returned to the shop the next morning, the assistant manager confirmed the battery had likely been jump-started and that the clamp belonged to the shop. He acknowledged it posed a serious risk of engine damage or a traffic accident had it come loose while driving. I was informed by staff that at least one service coordinator and one master technician were terminated or left the job during my experience. Every commitment made by departing staff was denied or ignored by whoever replaced them. I had to re-explain my entire history from scratch at each encounter. Total paid across both visits: $3,454.44. Problems fully resolved timely: zero. Hazards introduced: at least one. I have documented everything -- invoices, photographs, and a written record of every interaction. I am currently pursuing a full refund with corporate. Do not bring your vehicle here. read more

I came in to this location with a flat tire. They replaced the tire, but the new tire they installed was already halfway through its lifespan based on the DOT date code, sold to me at full price. On top of that, they tried to convince me that I needed to purchase three additional new tires. They kept insisting that I did so, but I wanted to get another opinion. After leaving Pep Boys, I went elsewhere and got two additional opinions on my remaining tires. Both places told me that the replacement tire Pep Boys installed was already at about half life and that the recommendation to replace three other tires are not needed. I don't think most normal, trusting people will have my experience because they will assume everything they are told is true and above board, even when it isn't; they won't assume that others may lie or cheat them. I called ahead for an oil change. Pep Boys said synthetic oil starts at $90 and that my car was larger and may cost more like $115-120. I also asked, when making my appt, how long will it take; they said, "right away because you made an appointment." I asked if I could get conventional oil instead of synthetic (~$50), they said they have it. When I got to the shop for my appointment, they did NOT have conventional oil. I said okay. Then after my car was "drained" (or so they said), they said it would cost $180 !!! I told them I was quoted $90+ when I called to make my appointment and that another place down the street was asking $116 for my size car. Suddenly, the price was $117. I took it. They said it would take 1.5 hours to finish the job (which again is ridiculous for an oil change). I said okay. They sent me 2 texts saying it would take 2 hours !! I sat and waited. They were done in under 30 minutes. I paid $117. By being proactive, I saved $60+ . Their sticker that they placed on my windshield says I have to change my oil in 5000 miles, less than the 6000 miles that is recommended. This story ended well, but they lied at every single step along the way. Every step. Can I trust them? Do I really know that they actually changed the oil? Did they use the synthetic oil as promised? I dropped My car off without making an appointment. It was at 7:30 in the morning I believe, because I had an issue with my tire. They were helpful and attentive but they could not give me a time and wish my vehicle would be done because they had plenty of people ahead of me. Which was okay. They gave me a call a few hours later saying they needed me to come back because the wheel lock wasn't there, so they put my car up but couldn't do anything with the wheel so they held it for me until I got there which was about 45 minutes later. They didn't have that remove my spot in line and I really appreciate it then. After that, my vehicle was done several hours later, which was pretty much the entire morning and afternoon, but it is what it is lol. I don't know how they got the price that I got for my one tire, which was a bit high, but I didn't really have a choice. They didn't really give an explanation as to the price but I'm not going to hold that against them because I could have easily looked while I was there. But regardless of the fact they had good service, they worked with me and they still allowed me to keep my car in the same spot while they waited for me, so that was nice. Would I go back, yes. I would ask for the price breakdown, but this was kind of an emergency. But the experience wasn't bad at all. read more

It's Daniel's RULES! All Customers Don't Matter! It should have been a tip when I was in the shop and I overheard a tech arguing with a customer on the phone, but I didn't give it another thought. I ordered some new tires for my wife's Mercedes. Chris, the Asst. Mgr at the counter, offered a lifetime rotate, balance, and alignment package. I thought it was a good deal and it would allow me to have all the work completed in one place. I decided to purchase the package. He then asked me if I had any other cars and where I was getting them service. I mentioned that I have 5 cars and that I was using the dealership for regular service and Discount Tires for balance and rotation. I just bought a Ford Bronco, that had never been serviced, as it only had 1814 miles at the time I was in their shop. Chris asked me to bring in the Bronco, and he would do the same lifetime rotate, balance, and alignment service offer. I accepted the offer, but I did not need the car service at the time. Chris was very nice, and I have been recommending Pep Boys to my friends, based on this experience. Fast forward to this morning. I made an appointment to have my car's tires rotate, balance, and align on the Ford Bronco. I asked a simple question, if I should be rotating the full-size spare. The answer was yes, but there was no way they were going to balance and rotate my tires with the package that was sold to me. Daniel, their Service Store Manager, was confrontational from the start. He said that I was charged for only one tire and not 4, when clearly on my invoice it notated a quantity of 4 tires. He also asked what size tires I had and if they were factory. I mentioned that they are factory and that they were 35' tires. He mentioned that I can't have 35' tires for the Lifetime Balance & Rotate package and that there is an upcharge for large 35' tires. This is funny, as I even had a conversation with Chris, when I bought the tire service package. I mentioned that I was thinking of switching over to the BFGoodrich KO2 tires. Chris mentioned that the KO2 tires were significantly heavier than the factory Goodyear Wrangler M/T tires that are on the car. Never did the conversation of a surcharge/visit come up or not being able to purchase the tire service package with 35' tires. Daniel was very demanding in telling me to look at his computer screen, that the pricing on my purchase invoice was incorrect. He kept saying I was not listening to him, as I was referring him back to the purchase invoice that he printed with what I purchased that day. He said it was a "misprint" and that it happens all the time. To him, it did not matter what Chris had sold me, which was validated by my attached invoice copy. It was his RULES and what he had on his computer screen. I mentioned that I felt this was a "Bait & Switch" and requested a refund. Early in the conversation, I asked Daniel why he was yelling at me. His reply was that he was not yelling at me, but rather that is how he talks. I mentioned that his tone was very aggressive and that I felt he was yelling at me. I brought this up to him twice, that he was definitely yelling at me. There was no message of "this is our mistake" and we will honor what you have on your purchase invoice. I asked for a refund, which Daniel said he will honor, as he did not want me as a customer. He then stated that he was tired of talking to me and dealing with me. He said that he did not care if I was a customer and that no one In town would offer the services I purchased at the price I paid. He did not care that I accepted their service offer and that he wasn't going to honor it. I mentioned that it was a contractual agreement, which he said didn't matter as he was going to give me a refund. He said the refund will take 4-5 weeks, as the $350 refund for both cars was above his authorization. He would submit a request to corporate, for a check refund. read more

Update: 06/10/22: Recd a callback from Danny regarding last weekend's experience. Danny assured me that everything was done, including the bulb change. That he was working beside the mechanic with a separate oil change. Danny asked that I return and have the 3-min bulb change, without removing the fender. I did. Danny did. And back on the road. Called and schedule an oil change for three of my 1970s chevys. Dropped off the first one and they called the next day saying their computer wouldn't allow them to create a work order and therefore they could not change oil. Seems absolutely ridiculous to me. I dropped my car off at 1:00 and was told it would be ready by the end of the day. I did not get the notification that my car was not ready 10:00 the next day. They also would not honor a coupon that I had to use saying that it needed to be presented before the service starts, however I have used the same or similar coupons several times with no issue and there is no fine print anywhere that says this. Nobody discussed results from the results of the vehicle inspection with me and my drivers side door is having difficultly opening and closing which was not happening before I dropped the car off and was not disclosed to me when I picked it up. read more

I would NOT recommend anyone go to this location. My wife came to pep boys to get an oil change. They advised her she needed new brakes and rotors so I went to replace them myself and the brakes had 75% of life left and rotors were like new. Would not recommend this place - especially to females coming alone. This place will try to take advantage of you assuming you don't know any better! I came to get a simple oil change and tire rotation. I received a call saying I need to have my front and back brakes, rotors, and front calipers replaced ASAP. I was quoted at over $1,000. The person who was helping me kept mentioning how my brakes were "dangerous" to drive with insisting that I get the job done. My car broke down earlier this year due to my alternator giving out. I got towed here and they replaced my alternator + battery, no problem. The issue I had was when, a couple weeks ago, my battery light came back on and my engine stalled. I knew it must have been something wrong with the alternator, so I took it back to this location. They ran tests and gave me my keys back and said nothing was wrong.... but then tried to upsell me on a bunch of things I couldn't afford and wouldn't back down when I said I couldn't afford it. When I brought my male partner in, they didn't say a word.... funny how that happens! Anyways, they sent me home with my battery light on ("sensor issue") and no solution. My engine stalled again today and I called to let them know what was happening. I was told they couldn't look at it today and could "maybe" look at it tomorrow despite me having JUST been here and told there was nothing wrong. No urgency whatsoever to try and make things right after they clearly did not fix the issue. I took my car to another location, where the mechanic was almost immediately able to tell that the alternator I had installed here was defective! So I am having to get a new one installed elsewhere because the mechanics here 1. installed a faulty alternator and 2. didn't catch that it was faulty when I brought it back in after it started causing problems. The other location was very quick to identify the issue which makes me feel like this location barely even checked my car out and charged me for it. read more

PepBoys arranged the $49 towing and this location did an incredible job securing the new alternator and replacing the battery in less than 3 hours. Thank you. My battery on my car died this morning. Got a jump from AAA and the driver told me I should take the car in for service and to be checked out, since there might have been a problem with the starter or the alternator or whatever. Took it straight to Pep Boys as it was closest to the location where I'm staying here in Atlanta. Danny the manager was great; I didn't have to wait at all and they checked the battery etc. right away. They installed a new battery and also gave the car a general checkup, since I'm driving back to California next week. All in all, I was there for less than 40 minutes. The technician who worked on my car was also nice and did an excellent job. What could have a been a day-long hassle ended up just being a mere blip. Thanks! read more

LADIES - DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!! I dropped my car off for an oil change and to check my fluid levels and tire pressure (I was going on a road trip). They called me at the end of the day with a list of things I needed to "fix" on my 20 year old car - that they quoted me for almost $10k. That's more than my car is worth! AND after having my car for almost 48 hours they still hadn't even changed my oil. I don't know why I thought this time would be different, but they ALWAYS tried to up-sell me thinking I didn't know better - and they were wrong. I took an uber and immediately picked up my car to take it somewhere else where they were shocked I was told I needed a new suspension, control arms, etc. Not only will I not go back to this location, but after the prior bad experiences at Pep Boys I will never go back. read more

I get to the shop, on Peachtree Rd. in Atlanta, on time for my appointment, and am told that they do not have my parts. They have the order # and the appointment, but no parts. The manager blamed it on "the internet" and said that there was nothing he could do. He said that there is no connection between the corporate internet site and the shop. How is this possible? What kind of business are you running? It's 2020 and I can't order on the internet??? I had to move around my entire week, and waste an afternoon, all for nothing. This is completely unacceptable. This place tried to charge me 2,500 dollars for what another shop charged me 400 dollars to repair. My engine was overheating and when I towed it to a new place they said Pep Boys didn't even try to put coolant in the system. Also that I could've driven my car there instead of towing. There was a $200 charge for "limited extended labor warranty" when I specifically requested minimal repairs. They also charged $40 for a 120 piece hose clamp assortment when I only needed two. No one should ever go here. It is sad that it is hard to find a mechanic to trust but it's worth it to keep searching. Terrible service the boss Danny is a complete a hole he lied about pricing and was very rude when I asked him about it. I've heard him talking to his employees and it is sickening I was completely disgusted and appalled about what I heard this is a real issue and not only am I leaving this review to warn people to STAY AWAY from this place I will be talking to supervisors because the way I was treated was unacceptable not to mention my car came back worse then when I got it I had to go somewhere else to get it fixed. read more

Let me just start off by saying that this was the 3rd place I went to 24 hrs to try to get an oil change. I went to Goodyear and they were going to be a 4+ hour wait even with an appointment, and a guy made creepy comments to me. I next went to Havoline and they were nice, but we're going to charge $80 for synthetic, and when i left, ANOTHER creepy comment from a guy. Both places made me feel extremely uncomfortable Finally i found a coupon for Pep Boys and i went here first thing this morning. Service was fast, they estimated 45 minutes so i went for a run and came back and it was ready exactly when they said it would be. It was $65 with a coupon that they probably have all the time, and the guy was nice enough that i didn't even ask to use it, he just automatically applied it before i said anything about it. The two guys who were working were friendly and unlike the other two places i went, they were JUST friendly. Not creepy. Just nice. Like a normal human being. Sad that just being friendly and not creepy impressed me so much but thank you to pep boys for making me feel comfortable at your business and for quick service. Great service on a short timeline. (New Battery) On the way home from a road trip, I called ahead in need of a new battery. They informed me of available batteries and helped me compare options over the phone. The manager (Dana?) was very helpful with purchasing online ahead of time (20% discount).
