I went to Dash today (3/11/2017) after seeing a friends nails and complimenting her. I've always been a fan of yelp because a lot of the time you can get a very good idea about a place. I'm also a firm believer in writing a review when my experience was great! Before going to Dash I did read the reviews, some I agreed with and others I just didn't. When I first walked in I was nicely greeted by the owner and asked a few questions regarding UV gel. I used to go to Coco Nails in Riverside and loved it, but felt their prices were WAY too high. They mentioned the UV full set was $60, you should know this is extremely reasonable for Stamford. My next question was do they charge extra for shellac polish? I find shellac gel is by far the best and lasts the longest. I also feel the shellac gel is much better for your nails. I was instructed to sit down and pick a color, Dash has TONS of great colors. They have numerous different brands of gel and probably 50 pallets to choose from. A nice, young guy named Jason sat down to do my nails. One of the reviews on yelp mentioned how amazing Jason was so I was quite pleased when he sat down. From the start of the process to the end he was fantastic. Since i didn't have the UV on my nails already, there was a bit more applied, but they still look SUPER natural. He was gentle, spoke very nicely and was absolutely meticulous. I'm quite the perfectionist so I loved how he made sure each nail was the same length (when comparing to my other hand) and he was sooo gentle. He was engaged in conversation but made sure to pay special attention to my nails. I picked this gorgeous emerald green sparkly color (everything is better with sparkles). In the past when I had UV on my nails I would go every three weeks. Each person is different, but unless there is something majorly wrong I think it's a bit overkill to go every two weeks. Beyond pleased with the experience!! Do yourself a favor and go see Jason! You won't be disappointed. As far as some of the other comments..... 1. There was mention of the shop being dirty - NOT true. Dash is very large, tons of stations and I felt it was very clean. 2. There was mention of the employees speaking in their own language - Somewhat true. This happens everywhere. I'd be surprised if you were to come across a shop that didn't do that. The girls looking on were very sweet and paid me a few compliments. They even helped me pick out a color. 3. Great selection of colors, gel included. 4. Nice massage at the end. After your first visit, they give you a card which specifies your visits and entitles you to a free 10 minute massage after eight visits. I think this is great customer service.

Came in at noon on a not busy Sunday. They didn't tell me there was a wait for a pedicure and walked me to the chair. Five, ten, fifteen and then twenty minutes goes by (meanwhile my feet are puckered like raisins in the tepid water) and finally a woman comes to do my nails. Right away, I could tell she hated her life. She asked me if I wanted the spa pedicure, and when I said no, that was it. She was done with me. She proceeded to beat my feet up. The filing was abusive, the way she kept shoving my feet up and down was abusive, and her scrubbing was just short of torture. I winced in pain the entire time and continued to pull my foot away from her whenever she hurt me. Other customers were just staring in shock. She never spoke to me, never bothered to make eye contact, kept wiping her nose on her sleeve and it was over in about 8 minutes. My feet are still raw and red. If you are in the service industry, I would think you would at least try not to injure your customers. I am not exaggerating for the web, she was brutal. As for going above and beyond and actually smiling at them, saying hi, well that would be too much to ask for here.

Walking in I immediately noticed all the COVID precautions put into place such as plastic dividers, temperature check, masks being worn on all employees and extra sanitary measures. Everything was super clean and I felt comfortable the entire time I was there. The ladies there were super helpful in helping me choose a color. They took their time trying different shades of pink until they found the perfect one that suited me. The tools used for my manicure were taken directly out of the sanitizing machine and other new things such as buffers were used. As for the manicure they took their time and were super gentle during the process of cleaning and filing my nails. My gel manicure came out thin and even. Amazing service offered and I will be coming back!

In the weeks that followed I did every conceivable thing to sabotage my nails. hauled furniture, gardened, painted, scrubbed with wire mesh, never, ever wearing gloves. It was insane how perfectly they held up. Not one break, chip, or peel off. Its been nearly three weeks now. If not for the fact that my nails have grown out, they look as great as the day I had them done. Not kidding. Those ladies have serious skills! I noticed that their process is in some ways different than the other salons and am certain those measures account for the durability and polish. They also don't rush or cheat. Over the years, I've been here a few times when I've been back in town, and my mom has come here once in a while, but not since Susan herself stopped working here. Before yesterday's visit, it never struck me as anything out of the ordinary, but they've made some amazing changes to their services which make this place really stand above the rest. My mom and I stopped in here for manicures early afternoon and were attended to immediately. The three technicians working (one male, two female) were very sweet, and attentive to my infant daughter who watched us from her stroller. I have had bad experiences with guys doing my nails in the past, so I was a bit unsure of how this would turn out, but the man technician who did my nails was top notch quality and super attentive to every detail in the process. My nails (and my mom's) look great, but the whole experience was worth waaaay more than the $10/manicure price we paid. Why? Well, with your manicure, you get a nice hand scrub and massage, a complimentary paraffin wax treatment for your hands (!!!), hot towel, a neck/back massage during the paraffin treatment AND a massage (with some deliciously warm neck compress) while your hands are drying. I've paid $15 extra for paraffin treatments in the past, and could not believe that this was all included in the $10 price tag. My mom also got a wrap put on one broken nail and it looks good as new!
