This is a great historic right beside 19A, the scenic highway. I've only visited once in the winter and it was covered in snow so I can't comment on the outside areas. The inside was quaint and cozy. It was clean and decorated with neat historical photos. Our server was fabulous, the perfect amount of friendly and helpful with great energy. The food was high quality pub food, I had the oyster burger..,, everything about it was great; fresh and delicious bun, crispy and tasty oysters, fresh lettuces. My daughter had the chicken fingers and said they were great, fresh and delicious. If in the area, I would definitely stop here again for a casual meal with great service.

Good selection of Fanny Bay oyster dishes. Service fast and friendly, casual pub atmosphere, with on outside deck where you can see the bay. Crowd was a mix of locals, tourists and bikers. Soundtrack was classic rock at a very reasonable volume. Burger was generous, fries were hot and crisp, oyster were fresh and lovely. Glad I stopped!

We walked in as their first customers after Fanny Bay Seafood Shop recommended this spot. We ordered the oyster sample platter with 2 of each kind on the menu at $3/oyster. My bf loved the ones with tequila dressing and I'm a fan of fried oysters (it was big and juicy). We also forgot to take a pic of their clam chowder, what a shame!! Thing we regretted most is that we only had the Cup size. It was sooo amazing! Even the garlic breads on side was on point (we did ask for more breads). We went back to our hotel in Parksville and was so close to come back the next day to have the chowder again. I'd love to see more ppl come and support this inn as service and food was truly fantastic!

The dining out behind the restaurant is great for summer. The calamari was well prepared. The drinks were reasonably priced. However, I expected a lot more from their oysters. They tasted somewhat creamy and not what I had expected given their reputation. I've been a fairly ardent oyster connoisseur and you can find better ones out there. Perhaps if you pick up their oysters fresh from where they sort them, they'd be better.

My local friends took me down to the Fanny Bay Inn (FBI) for supper. Good menu options, replete with raw and cooked oysters made famous here at Fanny Bay. I ordered the breaded oysters. I received five enormous Fanny Bay oysters cooked just right. The proprietor and staff are friendly and made our group very welcome. Nice old school pub interior. 60s & 70s music in the background at a very appropriate level for conversation. There are a couple of TVs but thankfully muted as not to be distracting. A nice place to come for a meal and comfortable surroundings.

    Naked and Cesar - perfection!

No kids under 19 allowed!?! I get it if supper is closed to kids but in this day and age kids should be allowed in pubs for lunch at least.

We were pleasantly surprised by a small, but nice brewpub with board games to boot. They didn't have any tables for four because of reservations, but we were able to sit at the bar and set our kids up with a game of Battleship while we had some beer and food. The beer wasn't world class, but also didn't disappoint. The unicycle sour IPA, was my standout, but the porter and monster mash IPA were also good. The rest were fine, but not amazing. The food was (if anything) better than the beer. The plain cheese pizza my son got was good and had nicely browned cheese all over. The sauce was a bit on the sweet side, but not unpleasantly so. I'd probably lean more into pizza next time even if it's a bit too carb heavy. The spuds (potato wedges) were only OK. I got the Thai chicken salad, which was spicy with great greens and good chicken. Nice and fresh. My wife seemed to be less enamored of her bahn mi burger, but still said it was good. The service was attentive and happy to accommodate us and our kids. Would definitely come again.

This turned out to be by far the better option. We had a really good experience at Dockside and thought that since they were both owned by the same company that we would also have a wonderful time at Blackfin. What a disappointment our time at Blackfin turned out to be. We did manage to get a table on the patio and it was lovely looking out at the harbour. The service was decent but not as good as the service the evening that we dined at Dockside. It was very busy and our server did try her best. We ordered a bottle of wine and started our meal with a shared appetizer of brie with blackberries, peaches, ginger maple and citrus compote. It was supposed to come with Rosemary flatbread but it seemed to come with small pieces of pita bread with no rosemary. It was also the smallest piece of brie that we've ever been presented with. We probably should have sent it back but we could not find our server. There was only about l oz. or 30gr. of cheese. We each only got 2 very small bites from this $18.00 appetizer. For entrees my husband had Szechuan salmon and I had the steak and prawns. I tried a bite and it did not taste very good at all. My husband did not enjoy his salmon and thought maybe it was because of the seasoning but it definitely was not a good dish. My steak and prawns had overcooked prawns and one of the toughest steaks that I've had. It was very disappointing. When my husband commented to our server that the food was very disappointing she provided us with a complimentary dessert. We chose key lime pie and it was decent. I would not recommend Blackfin Pub. Go to Dockside instead. The view is the same, service is better and the food is significantly better.

It was so intriguing that we decided to make the five minute drive next door, just to have lunch. Set near the water on the local resort, the restaurant looked like a converted mansion from the olden days, so it was real treat for me. All the windows were open which provided a nice cool summer breeze (so effective that we had to wear our jackets). There was also plenty of picnic table seating outside, and quite a number of folks chose to brave the winds to eat there. The hubby eventually settled on the generously sized Mac and Cheese while I went for the equally generous portioned Popcorn Shrimp. Between the shrimp, house salad and fries, it was a very satisfying meal. The shrimp claw and fries were deep fried just right, and I had enough house salad to feel like I was trying to be healthy. I tried a bit of the rich and creamy mac and cheese (mouthwateringly delicious), and I felt the portion was big enough and rich enough for two meals. It felt like it was good value and portioned pub food for the price you pay. If you are staying at the nearby resorts in Parksville, definitely worth a trip there!
