Ok, driving into this town, I did not expect the food to be any good but it really was at DeeZ! The menu has a lot of options, from steak, German, Asian, Italian, Greek, burgers, salad, and fish and chips! I asked the waitress For her recommendation and ended up with a perfectly-seasoned pan-fried fish with a big ol' salad. It was exactly what I wanted and the fish was cooked to perfection. Their house red (a BC merlot) was surprisingly good also... one of the better reds I've had recently. The waitress left a carafe of water so I never had to wait for a refill. Went for their Sunday Brunch, it was relatively the basic scrambled eggs, pancakes,french toast,bacon,sausages,hash browns,some tomatoes with cheese on it i think, with fresh fruit and croissants. The food was fresh and i enjoyed the fruit platter, the bacon was overdone to my liking, but all in all it was good for $11.95-Canadian. The only issue was that the buffet was directly uncomfortably across the waitress station, no room for people who were awkwardly waiting in the hall(bar area) for the buffet. But will be back again for sure, waitress was spot on and attentive and the chef that cooked was pleasant as he refilled the steam table for the food. P.S. The food did not taste all the same(They used different grills for everything so it didn't have the same taste) Like Denny's or Smittys. read more

On vacation with my wife and 5 kids, (3 of em teenagers), and we stopped here on a whim as we were getting hungry. What a stroke of luck! This place was awesome! The server was very friendly and personable. I can't remember his name but he had a moustache that was curled up on the ends. The food was incredible! I mean it was just pub food, (chicken fingers and burgers), not generally all that difficult but the burger was easily one of the best I've had and the 2 girls that had chicken fingers just raved about them! They still bring it up a month later! The price was good too, nothing over $15. We fed 7 of us including 2 liquor drinks for the adults for around $140 which included a generous tip! If you're in Nanaimo, it's worth it to go a bit out of the way to check this place out! I should warn you though, the fries were mediocre. Lol read more

Wow I am so happy we found this place. Not only do they air your favorite sports, but they serve some of the best food we've had on the entire island. Get the eggs Benedict menu and you won't be let down. The GM, Trent was especially kind and helpful. He gave us so much insight as guest travelers and fellow mountain bikers on the best places to go. Stopped by here on chance as we were starving. Didn't have super high expectations but we were really wrong. We had the halibut fish and chips and they were my first time having halibut. It was amazing. I begged my bf to go back the next day but he was ready to move on. Had some fantastic Caesar's, the server made them herself based on our request and nailed it. We ate & chatted with the local motorcycle riding, bar flies who were on the patio with us. Everyone was so friendly. Our server was kind and very sweet, lady in her late 30s/40s, when she could see we didnt know what we were doing. I think she took pity on us. We really loved our lunch there. Solid pub food, and a great experience to dine among and meet locals of Qualicum Beach/Bay. I'm always leery of ordering steak in a restaurant, since no one seems to be able to cook it to the correct temperature. It took a neighbourhood pub on Vancouver Island to get that right. The New York Steak came with tons of veggies (carrots, peas and beets) and was a huge portion for what we paid. Friendly staff, quick service and a cool atmosphere. The food was extremely good and the portion sizes--as Deb M. said--are enormous. Even better than this was the service. We were a party of seven helped by a very nice guy over by the fireplace. Ate breakfast twice and a late night meal once while staying in Qualicum Beach. The breakfasts were especially yummy and the waitresses were excellent - offering not only great food and service but also sharing tips with the tourists about where to go (and not go). I go here fairly regularly and do enjoy it when in the mood. There are many locals who love it here, and ti shows. The menu is large as are the portions, and the food is decent. They make a great Greek salad, good Dino Ribs, Souvlaki, and some other basics. It isn't fancy or a gastro pub by any means, but a good local watering hole with good food and better service! Went there for dinner based on the 4 stars on Yelp as there are few restaurants in the area at 4 stars or above. The crab cakes were ok and came with a big salad. The calamari was very good but only had tzatziki sauce which lacked flavor. I had the halibut which was cooked fine but the sides were blah. My wife ordered the steak sandwich and wanted it rare. It came out well done. Why is it so hard for cooks to get a steak right??? Jesus we asked for rare and it was well done? Just walk over and give me the finger! I wouldn't come back. Absolute worst service I have ever received. Waitress ignored our table we had to find our own drinks. I had the buffet which was terrible microwave scrambled eggs and deep fried bacon and my husband wanted to order off the menu he had to go to bar to order because the waitress never showed up to our table until the bartender/manager told her about us. When if finally came out after everyone was done eating his egg whites were uncooked (slime) and he had to go find his own cutlery. The waitress brought them back out a second time the food looked awful again when we went to send it back the waitress actually cursed at us.
