Very nice staff and pretty decent food. They recommend a reservation but we were able to get in without an issue. Had the crab dip for an appetizer and the salmon for dinner. The crab dip was pretty good and the salmon was well done. Pictures posted of the menu since there were none on here already.

Swordfish with slab of butter, carrots, squash, and potatoes. Nasty.

The other people who have eaten here must have entered the food under the wrong restaurant. There's a reason this place is empty every night. It's not that it's a bad location, the food is terrible and one of the worst meals I've eaten in my life. I threw it up in the parking lot. I had the Swordfish which was the "fish of the day" with butter herb, carrots, potatoes, and squash. The swordfish arrived with a slab of cold butter on it. The swordfish wasn't warm enough to melt the butter, which doesn't make sense as the fish itself was overcooked except for the almost frozen part in the middle. The fish itself was drenched in butter (but the slab on top hadn't melted yet) and basically inedible. The potatoes were like eating wet sand, the carrots were drenched in oil (judging by the sludge underneath them), but the squash was nice. Since i can't give less than one star, you get one star for squash. Go to McDonald's, avoid at all costs.

My husband was skeptical as there were no other guests but it was so amazing!!!! I wish more people knew about this place. The server is such a delight, the food is mild, refresh and soothing. It's not salty/hardy. Nice and light. The specials were great. Definitely will be back!!

Food and service is always superb...never have had a bad dinner. My sister and brother in law from the mainland say it is the best.

Excellent food and service. We enjoyed the stuffed mushroom caps appetizer. The Chefs Pasta entree was also excellent.

Excellent food and service. The portions are good and the slant is French. Of course reservations are a good choice.

We typically don't have dinner at the hotel we are staying at as it seems to us that either the…read morefood, or the service, are not up to the standards of stand alone restaurants. Definitely not the case at Pastimes on our visit this evening. Our server Teresa was excellent, even though she was quite busy. She happily answered our questions about the food, and the choices we were going to make. We shared a house salad which was plentiful and had a nice accompaniment of dried cranberries and almonds. Both items are things that are often scrimped upon as they are complimentary items that aren't an inexpensive addition. For our mains I got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, and the lovely K the turkey dinner. Both were excellent, with the meatloaf wrapped by bacon, likely the local Hertel variety which was incredible. Real mashed potatoes and veggies cooked to my perfect taste along with gravy. Easy 5 out of 5, as was K's turkey, also accompanied by mashed potatoes and veggies. The decor is pure sports bar, but the sound on the tv's was down so you could actually talk without the usual noise. The Canucks were in Nashville so we watched the game and enjoyed a very very nice meal. Sadly we couldn't finish it all, and with a travel day tomorrow we had to send it away, what a shame. We will most definitely be back the next time we are in Port Alberni.

Today I had the pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream in the perfect amounts and I didn't even need the syrup (but it was there just in case). The food arrived quickly and it was good and hot. My hubby had the Classic double-egger, 3 pcs. bacon and sourdough toast and it was also delicious. We wish we could be here for their 6 year anniversary but we'll be back in the states. We will seek out other Ricky's on our travels but this one is definitely our favorite. The building and interior are very inviting. A great restaurant we have found.

The server we had just made our day!! None of us can say enough about him. He had us laughing as soon as we sat down. He also picked up on the fact that we wanted to pay for one of the friends meals and she told him "no". He went with the majority and gave her a bill that said "Your friends adore you" and the amount was $0.00 Wish I could remember his name! Service above and beyond. We all enjoyed our food as well!

It I recently attended the 35th-anniversary celebration at Fairwinds Golf Club, and I must say, it…read morewas a truly disappointing experience that left me utterly unsatisfied. From start to finish, the event was marred by a series of unfortunate mishaps that made it clear the planning and execution were far from adequate. First and foremost, the lack of seating arrangements was shocking. Upon arrival, it became evident that there were not enough seats to accommodate the guests. A substantial number of attendees, around 20, were left to fend for themselves by setting up makeshift tables on the patio. This involved not only cleaning the tables and seats but also enduring the inconvenience of arranging their own dining spaces. Additionally, some unfortunate souls were relegated to standing at tall tables, giving the event an unintended dance club vibe. The dismal state of affairs continued when it came to the food. The offerings were far from satisfactory--a sad assortment of cold buns, condiments, a few vegetables, and dipping sauces. To make matters worse, the burger patties were pre-made and barely lukewarm. The absence of appetizers or salads left attendees with minimal options, and to top it off, there were no utensils available for those who attempted to navigate this underwhelming feast. What struck me as particularly appalling was the blatant disregard for the paying guests. Despite the glaring lack of seating for attendees who had shelled out $35 each to participate in this event, Fairwinds manager seemed to have reserved a seat for herself and her friends. To make matters worse, she was one of the first in line for the food. This not only displayed a lack of professionalism but also underscored the sheer insensitivity to the guests who had been let down by the event's execution. Perhaps the only redeeming aspect of the evening was the presence of the band, which managed to salvage a bit of the celebration's integrity. The musical performance was indeed fantastic and served as a temporary distraction from the event's overall inadequacy. Considering the demographic of Fairwinds Golf Club's members and the residents of the area, the event's setup was not only inappropriate but also downright insulting. The lack of attention to detail, the absence of proper seating and dining arrangements, and the disregard for the guests' experience all painted a grim picture of the event planning. It's my firm belief that the individual responsible for orchestrating this debacle should be immediately removed from such responsibilities, as their incompetence was on full display that evening. In sum, the 35th-anniversary celebration at Fairwinds Golf Club was a tremendous letdown. The event fell drastically short of expectations and left attendees with a sour taste in their mouths, both literally and figuratively. The subpar setup and execution rendered the celebration a far cry from what one would expect from a reputable establishment. If anything, this event seemed more fitting for teenagers rather than a mature, paying audience. a Terrible Dinner and Venue; The Music Band was the Saving Grace
