    The wine was great.

We have eaten at the QBC either together, or individually a number of times, and although we haven't read the reviews, we can't understand why it doesn't get more love. Yeah maybe it's a little dark inside, and could probably use a bit of an update, but it's clean and has some nice decorative touches. We've not sat outside so we can't speak to that. The menu is a little limited with no chicken dish, other than having it on the pizza which was quite good. Had it last night, forgot to take photos. The lovely K shared a Caesar salad and the clam chowder. She enjoyed the soup, but the salad could use some help. My first meal there was the spaghetti with gigantic meatballs. The meatballs are a three meat mixture and I quite liked them. The lovely K had the ragu which was also quite good. The service has always been great for us, with the staff quite engaged in the guest experience, which isn't always the case in the touristy areas, which Qualicum Beach certainly is. It's also open quite a bit later than almost everything else as Qualicum even in the summer seems to hit the slumber button on food service between 7:30 and 9:00 PM which is early for use. We'll be there again for sure.

Sunset on the beach in front of restaurant. Sadly I didn't get a pic of the food.

Breakfast was good, and the service was friendly. The spot also offers a somewhat nice view, which makes it a pleasant place to eat.

For one whole tote, delivered to the parking area beside our boat, the price was $35 in the early 2000s. One tote was enough to fill 3 or 4 ice chests, plus a couple of fish lockers on the boat. In recent year the aged woman who runs the place has been accusing us of "stealing Ice" and has raised the price every year. In July 2023 she raised it to $150, and told us the commercial fishermen were complaining because they used their own totes???? She also insisted on cash payment, which we suspect went directly into her own pocket. Beware the Ice Nazi of French Creek! We, nor our fellow fishermen, will ever again stop there.

First visit we bought shrimp cakes. You know if you don't mix jello enough, there's a layer of thick rubber at the bottom? That's the consistency of the shrimp cakes. The next time I asked if the crab cakes were any different, and she said if you don't like the consistency of the shrimp cakes, you're not going to like the consistency of the crab cakes. Second visit was for halibut. Not fresh, but apparently flash frozen and cut the same day as it is sold. Was extremely watery, so...... Third visit is a charm - or not! Fresh sockeye salmon for $27.99 a pound. They were not deboned so I spent half an hour deboning four fillets. Of the four, one still had a section of bone attached to the side which had to be trimmed. One fillet had a large section of fat that had to be trimmed. There goes about $6. Thrifty's and Quality Foods has better seafood - just sayin....

We stumbled upon this place after a quick Google search for nearby breweries and I am so glad my friends and I came across this gem! Upon entering, I immediately noticed the vibrant lush greenery hanging from the ceiling - love!! The restaurant oozes cozy but nature-y vibes and we were very excited to try their signature brews. We waited briefly to be sat on the patio. After being seated, a kind waitress immediately came over and gave us suggestions on drinks. While my friends are avid beer drinkers, I myself prefer ciders so I ordered the watermelon smash and it was so yummy! My friend also loved her flight which featured a variety of different beers. The oceanside lager was the overall favourite in the entire group. Another honourable mention was the fuzzy peach tasting beer which I really enjoyed despite not being a beer drinker. My boyfriend and I ordered the chowder and ribs to share. Despite the food taking quite some time to arrive, it was well worth the wait. My pick is definitely the chowder as it was packed with seafood and flavour! The added bannock was also very delicious - we shared it with our friends and they ended up devouring most of it haha. I recommend this place especially if you're not from around the area as it has great ambiance and food.

The floors look to be original hardwood, and there are lots of beams and logs to see. I personally love the old style look, but it might not be to everyone taste. The service is quite good, our server especially, although it did seem like one individual was more interested in polishing glasses and not running food or bussing tables. He was a little passive aggressive with another staff member when he did run a couple of plates, came back and said "see that wasn't that hard." Not a good look. The food was quite good, although we felt, this time like the last, it was a little on the expensive side. It is quite a tourist mecca just outside of Parksville so that's likely part of the reason. It's also quite busy so clearly people are willing to pony up. We had the soup of the days Chantrelle mushroom soup. Evidently those mushroom are very plentiful in the area this time of year. It was quite good, creamy for sure, but we would have liked some more noticeable bits of mushroom. We also shared a Caprese salad which needed more balsamic and a little salt. The capers were a nice add. We finished with Margherita pizza which was nicely cooked and finished with fresh basil. Can't believe I am saying this, but there was too much cheese on it and maybe a little shy on the tomato sauce. Peroni beer on tap is a total winner for me. Have been twice, might go again, but likely not.
