One of the rare places in Qualicum Beach that is open later. Lovely decorated for Christmas (inside & outside) and all the staff treated us very well. The supper menu does change at a certain point to a reduced night menu but still good amount of food choices. We decided to build our own charcuterie platter and was the perfect amount for the 3 of us. We all tried non-alcoholic drinks and were also very happy with our choices. Even though my friends & I didn't have any alcoholic beverages, we all commented on the vast options. Parking is plentiful in front & back of the hotel & you can access from either side to reach the cafe. The bathroom is on until hotel side and probably one of the nicest public bathrooms. The cafe is well laid out with varying sizes of tables. We quite enjoyed our Christmas visit & all agreed we'll be back again. Hopefully earlier in the day or for the full supper menu. As skimming online, the menu listed a lot of great options. read more

Excellent service and food! First visit we got to town late went into QBC 30 min before closing and we're greeted with exceptional service for food and a couple drinks. Went back early for breakfast and were treated to the same great service and quality breakfast. More than enough servings, fabulous coffee and to top it off it didn't break the bank! Not a lot of places that you can leave full for under $40. Highly recommend this restaurant!! read more

Breakfast was good, and the service was friendly. The spot also offers a somewhat nice view, which makes it a pleasant place to eat.

Even though I had made reservations for a Monday night, they tried to put us at a two top next to the kitchen. The food was OK. I'm not sure if they realize that you shouldn't cook strips of peppers the same time as you cook carrots. This time the peppers were good and the carrots were still half raw. read more

We have eaten at the QBC either together, or individually a number of times, and although we haven't read the reviews, we can't understand why it doesn't get more love. Yeah maybe it's a little dark inside, and could probably use a bit of an update, but it's clean and has some nice decorative touches. We've not sat outside so we can't speak to that. The menu is a little limited with no chicken dish, other than having it on the pizza which was quite good. Had it last night, forgot to take photos. The lovely K shared a Caesar salad and the clam chowder. She enjoyed the soup, but the salad could use some help. My first meal there was the spaghetti with gigantic meatballs. The meatballs are a three meat mixture and I quite liked them. The lovely K had the ragu which was also quite good. The service has always been great for us, with the staff quite engaged in the guest experience, which isn't always the case in the touristy areas, which Qualicum Beach certainly is. It's also open quite a bit later than almost everything else as Qualicum even in the summer seems to hit the slumber button on food service between 7:30 and 9:00 PM which is early for use. We'll be there again for sure. read more

I'm in town (ish) dogsitting and a friend came up from Nanaimo and we decided to meet here - neither of us knew the place but she picked it and I was up for a night out. We got in early on a Friday night without reservations - 5:00 and it was pretty empty except one other table. Uh oh I thought. But by the time we left it was packed. I had the meatballs and we shared the Brussel sprouts (I follow a keto diet) and my friend had the steelhead. Presentation on all was fantastic! She said her meal was good but maybe under seasoned. I felt the same about my meatballs. But I ate them all and really enjoyed them. The Brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly and really tasty but a bit sweet. So the food I good - could be upped a notch. Service however was fantastic. Our server Johnny was really personable and a wealth of knowledge and perfect at dropping in to check on us but also gave us our space. I would definitely go again. The atmosphere was really nice and although it was rainy it was nice to be near the beach. read more

Amazing fresh summer salad with fresh local salmon as an add on. My husband had the surf and turf - also very good and reasonably priced too. Service was excellent, friendly, updated mid-century ambiance, view of the bay and we even caught the sunset at 9:15pm June 28th. read more

This is our fav Qualicum restaurant. We have had brunch and several dinners here and always leave impressed. Approachable elevated dining - great service, food and ambiance. More in line with something you would find in Vancouver. We are lucky to have this place in our small town! read more

Amazing food, gorgeous view, and super friendly! Things did take a while but we were on holiday and it's island time so it didn't matter. Happy hour here rocks! $1.50 local oysters- it varies - Fanny bay, kusshis etc Pizza - incredible, meatballs - on point... but their mignonette served with the raw oysters... best I've ever had! Totally worth the trip up from parksville! Oh... and all deserts are made in house... boom! read more

We arrived for lunch really looking forward to it. The service was disgusting. We waiting for 15 min for our order. Ordered our food and then it was another 45 min to when we got it. It was cold. Awful. Eery one of us thought it was mediocre. Will never go there again. Avoid this place, the prices are outrageous for what you get. read more

My husband and I went for happy hour a few days ago and sat outside in the round. We had an awesome time! Everything from the ambiance and live music to the scrumptious food and attentive service, was fabulous. We had the bison carpaccio, always a favourite however no longer offered on the Happy Hour menu, which is a shame. We ordered it from the main menu. From the HH small plate menu we ordered: parm fries, cheese toast focaccia, clams, and the chorizo & potato plate. Everything was delicious! The new small plate happy hour menu is a big hit; lots to choose from. Servers were plentiful and worked well as a team to make sure we wanted for nothing. Thank you! The 2-pc band (older bearded guys) played great old Stones' tunes among others. Fun! We'd go back to hear them again. Location can't be beat, right across from the beach. We enjoyed the view. Last but not least, we thoroughly enjoyed our dessert to go. Unfortunately we can't recall the name of it exactly but it was basically (and there's nothing "basic" about this dessert!) a chocolate mousse cake with carmel topped with some raspberries. Good evening, I dined at your restaurant tonight and would like to share some feedback: Our experience was great in some respects and completely lacking in others. The atmosphere was pleasant although a wee bit loud. The service was good - capable weight staff. Three of our dishes were wonderfully prepared - tasty seafood and veggies, although just slightly slim portions. The fourth dish, spaghetti carbonara with salmon, was downright disappointing. The salmon was slightly overcooked and the spaghetti undercooked which would be excusable if the sauce had not been grossly overpowered by raw garlic and chunky pepper. Additionally the carbonara was watered down to the point of being a runny grey mess that had no distinct flavouring beyond raw garlic and chunks of pepper. I could not taste the guanciale, a usually distinct flavour of any decent carbonara. The raw garlic flavour dissipated once i got home but the associated stomach ache persisted well after. read more

We received a brochure in the mail for the recently re-opened Qualicum Beach Cafe, touting their "Prime Rib Monday" menu. I like prime rib, and it's not easy to come by in this area; so we made a reservation and planned a pleasant evening out. First off, the music blaring over the sound system was FAR TOO LOUD. That point was driven home when we were asking questions of the server, and, at one point, her response was totally unrelated to the question asked......the music was too loud for her to hear us properly. Secondly, I like my prime rib to be cooked "medium"; I was advised that all they had available was "medium-rare", so I went with that (I'm flexible, after all)......it came to me "rare", bordering on "raw". Not a pleasant experience; we won't be going back. read more

I just ate there its very expensive and the service is not good. Skip lobster fest they charge ridiculous prices for NO lobster it was a joke. My server screwed up my order and it finally arrived and the rest of my party had to wait until i finished my food. It used to be good but don't waist your time or money going there. read more

Took my mother there as a treat after she hurt her hand today. Waitress told us the special was $84. We left in disgust. Pffft! Clearly this joint caters exclusively to the uber-rich, as opposed to regular Qualicum Beach folks. Hey, you don't want us normal people? Fine. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana. I would guess that this dish is hard to make correctly. The first thing I tasted, overwhelming so was the oil it was cooked in. The breading was saturated with oil. The tomato sauce was very bland. I would guess it was cooked at too low of a heat. The breading itself was also bland. Service was slow when we first arrived. Which is why I didn't send the dish back. I was hungry. The ambiance delightful as always. read more

Friendly service, though the one person working the patio was overwhelmed at the time. That was really the only redeeming quality about this place and meal. I don't see how or why locals would return. I write this review so that tourists and visitors don't make a similar mistake. Sat on the patio which is underwhelming to say the least. The inside space looks great on the website. In reality, it's dark with low ceilings. It feels like a bad hotel restaurant, which it is. Calarami caesar salad. It's a great idea that was horrendously executed. Outer green leaves of romaine drowning in watery dressing. Poorly fried and greasy calamari. Fish and chips were half-decent. Fish was well-cooked. The fries have that coating that indicates they are frozen. Two mains and two drinks for around $100. That's pretty sad, especially when the food is this bad. Oh, and dirty, greasy menus that look like a treasure map from the Goonies they were so wrinkled and nasty. Save your time and money. read more

Fabulous surprise, Looked online at to find a spot to enjoy our anniversary dinner and found the Qualicum Beach Cafe! The online booking system informed me that the patio was fully booked however there was space available inside the cafe. When we arrived 20 minutes early as we usually do, the hostess [ Politely ] asked us to return at our reservation time, and we did. The Cafe was very busy but the staff was friendly and informed me that they were trying to get us our table. A gentleman approached and asked if we would be okay dining on the Patio, where we would have preferred to be in if at all possilbe!! Amanda our server was amazing, the food was great, my wife enjoyed her dessert and we watched the sunset from our seats, Beautiful! This Cafe even offers a pint for the kitchen on the menu, as it was a hot day we decided to send the kitchen some love!! Many thanks to everyone that made August 8, 2022 such a special day. This is not a cafe, looks like a hotel dining room. Don't try to order a burger or soup and sandwich for dinner as its not on the dinner menu. The service is ok but they definitely have a identity crisis. The food is good but it's pricey. Cafe? i think not. I won't be back and i wouldn't recommend it , 1 star at best. read more

The. Qualicum Beach Cafe (located in the Qualicum Beach Inn) is a great addition to dining in Oceanside. The food and beverage options are a welcome change! We have dined twice since their opening in early February; once for dinner and most recently for their Happy Hour. Recommended items to try are the Bison Carpaccio and the Salmon Tartare (as noted in the photo). Staff are welcoming, friendly, and willing to assist. Reservations are easily made online including for the outdoor patio (when that season starts!). Price point is typical for a restaurant of this calibre. ignored on arrival when we asked front desk if we could enter, the man seemed offended he then dealt with another party who barged in from another direction charcuterie plate consisted of a slice of orange and pieces of raw broccoli a salad and spaghetti did not arrive after an hour. We begged for our food and the teenage waitress said she "would check". That and the view of a parking lot .. wow if only I could choose less than one star... go to the gas station nearby. far better service. We have eaten several times at Qualicum Beach Cafe. Today we enjoyed a very delicious generous sized vegetarian Bennie for brunch. The restaurant is attractive and has a great view. The service was pleasant and professional; background music was just that - quietly in the background. read more
