Meh Food was good enough for breakfast. Not fancy, and not bad. The service was complete disappointment. Ordered water, got coffee. My husband said- no problem, he would keep the coffee. Waitress walked off and never came back with my water. Had to track her down twice to request water before I finally got water. Ordered basted eggs with English muffin, got eggs over medium with whole grain toast. Politely said, I actually ordered English muffin, (did not mention that I didn't order fried eggs) she said "are you sure you don't want the toast? I said, no, I would like the English muffin. She walked off and served several other tables and started filling their drink orders. My husband tracked down a different person to get my English muffin, by then my not basted eggs were cold. I get it, mistakes happen to the best of us. A simple acknowledgment or apology would have been welcome, but not a word. It made me feel like I was the one being difficult and I hate being that person. It isn't cheap eats, so I simply wanted what I paid for. The fried potato hash towns were tasty and well seasoned, the eggs (however they were cooked) were good enough. Overall the food is what you expect for a traditional breakfast. I cannot rate the food because we never received any. Our party of five was seated and we were given menus, water and two coffees by the hostess. We waited for half an hour and no one took our order. Even after one of us went to the hostess to ask about our server, the server denied it was her table. Neither the hostess nor server apologized, they just blamed the other, and still no one offered to take our order. Everyone around us was being served. We were all well-dressed and polite. The staff were very young. If I were the owner, I would be very concerned about the kind of behavior displayed by the staff. Be prepared to have your business go downhill with that kind of blasé attitude. read more

Unfortunately my experience wasn't very good. I was a single person, seated promptly, the restaurant was busy but it took awhile for the waitress to take my order. My order was simple 2 eggs hashbrows and toast. It took forever! When it arrived I surprised to be served French fries! The eggs were barely warm but the toast was hot! Obviously my order was forgotten. When asked about the meal I didn't complain just said the French fries were a surprise. Thought we would try this place following Yelp reviews. Location was definitely convenient off hwy. Indoor and outdoor seating. Inside was just comfortable temperature on a very hot day. Service was friendly. Had the cream of mushroom soup. It was a little on the bland side for me needing lot's of salt, but would be great for those with high blood pressure. The beef pastry was not available so we went for the Beef Dip. The beef was thinly sliced just right and lean on a nice toasted French bun. The aujus was tasty. I tried this place out when I was craving some brunch and was really pleasantly surprised. On the walk in I noticed some people eating what looked like an amazing skillet dish, and considered ordering that but then switched to a Benny when I seen the nice selection of bennys they had. The Benny was super good and the chef must have chucked in some cheese under the hollandaise which make it ever so rich and delicious. I ordered a large chai latte and when it came all I could think of to say was "wow, that's a big one!" Cuz it was so huge and it tasted really good too. This is the best breakfast spot in Parksville I've found so far! And lastly I can't help but to mention the waitresses were all slammed busy, but still were very accommodating and nice. All our selections were well executed. Cornish pastry with soup of the day, club sandwich coleslaw fries, cod n chips, shared round all pronounced solid and tasty. Service was welcoming friendly and appreciated. Water for the table, refills, prompt order taking and delivery. Bussed. CHEYENNE and team 'on the ball'. This is a terrific little diner. It is very busy and there is often a line up. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. Service is very good. The waitress we had was very friendly and efficient. When my husband asked if they had cinnamon buns she said that they did but they sell out very quickly. My husband asked her to hold one for him for takeout which she did promptly. For breakfast my husband had the French toast with a side of crispy bacon. He asked for real maple syrup with his French toast and unlike most restaurants where you are given a small 2 oz. container of maple syrup at Trees they give you the bottle of maple syrup. I had a scrambled egg sandwich. It was scrambled eggs, with a 5 cheese blend, spinach, tomato and choice of meat served on grilled cheese bread. It was one of the best sandwiches that I've had and my husband thoroughly enjoyed the taste that I gave him. It was a very reasonable $8.99. They have 2 large bakery counters at the front of the restaurant that have many lovely pastries for sale. It all looked so yummy. My husband certainly enjoyed his cinnamon bun. When we left Parksville on Thanksgiving morning we were sorry that Trees was closed and we were not able to enjoy breakfast there again. This place is a real gem. The Crabby Benny was amazing! Eggs perfectly poached. I wasn't a fan of their hashbrowns but the meal was huge so I didn't even need the potatoes. Good coffee, excellent service, and a pit stop that I would recommend to anyone passing by here on their Vancouver Island travels. Next time I hope to stop to try some lunch! read more

Cute little place with an innovative menu. I had poached eggs served over grilled tomato cups and a bed of spinach, all topped in melted cheese. Hubby had the crab cake Benny with a little smoked salmon added in. My breakfast came with some of the best marble rye toast I've ever had. Service was quick and attentive with a variety of folks checking in on us to top off coffee and ask if we needed anything else. Oh, and there's free WiFi too. Really, really good diner food. There is a famous breakfast spot in Parksville that is closed Monday and Tuesday. If you need a place to go when they are closed (or you don't feel like waiting in line for an hour), Trees is a very close second. The menu and food isn't aiming for the same level as Bread & Honey, but it hits on all marks. The standout was their homemade sausage. So, so good. And so much better than another pre-made frozen breakfast meat you find at 99% of other diners. It was spicy and salty and very tasty. My biggest complaint is that they don't make biscuits and gravy! They are a bakery after all -- just get some buttery biscuits going and a white pan gravy after cooking those sausages... please! I had an omelette (not on the menu, but available however you'd like it) and my wife had a benedict. Both were top notch. We'll be back to Trees next time we visit even if the other place is open. read more

This rating is a direct result of the abominable treatment I received from a server at Trees last week! I understand there is a staffing shortage blanketing many communities atm. Which undoubtedly can make it a challenge to find quality staff/servers. However, if a staff member is behaving in an unprofessional, rude, and even aggressive manner toward patrons then perhaps it's time to rethink that hire!!?? After a ridiculous go around with a very unhelpful, dismissive, rude server, which could have been avoided completely if she had simply been polite, attentive, and asked for more clarity, I ended up having to request to speak with the manager in order to fulfil my order. While having a discussion, and relaying my experience/concerns to management the server walked over, and rudely interrupted the conversation. She escalated the situation, and began trying to save face by accusing me of being rude, which was an untruth. Anyone in the vicinity could see/hear that I had been both polite, and patient in my dealings with her. At this point however my patience had worn thin. I'd had quite enough of this server's repugnant behaviour. So, I called her out on her lie, and told her exactly what I thought of her nasty, unprofessional attitude. At one point the manager stepped in to physically nudge the server away from me, as she was actually right in my face posturing with an aggressive attitude. She refused to follow her managers instructions, so I told her very firmly to get out of my face. I had to say it twice before she finally took her leave. I was very taken aback! I mean who acts that way, and in their work place to boot?! All I could think was what is happening here, in this place of business? Is this for real? Am I being punked? Unbelievable! Afterwards the manager took me aside, presented me with the product I had come to purchase, and apologized for the waitresses unprofessional, beligerent behaviour. Sadly it cannot undo, nor rectify this terribly off-putting experience. This unhinged behaviour by the staff reflects extremely poorly on the business as a whole. Myself, my family, my friends will never return to this establishment again after this inexcusable treatment. Terrible experience. Waitress had her friends in and the loudmouth just wouldn't shut up. His loud obnoxious voice as well as the vulgar language and putting down of woman created a bad experience. If these are the people you hire and let hang out in your establishment I definitely will not be returning. The food was probably better than what I remember but just so turned off. This restaurant was a pleasant find in Parksville. The food was fresh and the service prompt (40 minutes from ordering to finishing). I had two pieces of Halibut and chips served with a generous helping of delicious coleslaw. The French fries were definitely cut in house and deep fried to perfection while the batter on my fish was light and crispy. My husband had chicken florentine with steamed veggies and a rice pilaff. I had a taste of the chicken, it was tender and delicious. He commented that it was like a excellent home cooked meal. The serving portions were both very generous. We had the best meal of our trip so far here. The food was fresh, homemade, and affordable. There kid's menu were standard options which was perfect for us and well portioned. My oldest is getting to the age where some places kid's dishes are not big enough. That wasn't the case here, we all left food on our plates. We may have to stop here again on this trip. I had the Poutine with bacon which was truly decadent. In addition to locally made cheese curds they also had some shredded cheese melting on it. The gravy tasted home made. This place is really cute and there are some pretty good meals as well. The open-faced steak sandwich with fries is really good. The steak is seasoned well and the garlic bread,used for the sandwich is yummy too. The lady there was really nice and friendly and we were talking with her. My three daughters liked the Italian sodas and had a choice of whipped cream on top which they all asked for. We got the lemon meringue pie and the apple pie for dessert. The lemon meringue pie has a huge mountain of meringue on top which makes your mouth water and makes you want it right then and there. The apple pie was pretty delicious as well. A true find thanks to YELP reviews. This little out of the way restaurant, located in a small strip mall, deserves all the accolades it has received. That fish and chips were delicious and filled the plate. The liver and onions, only available Monday and Tuesday, were exceptional. The waitress was very sweet. The hardest decision was deciding what to order. Although I was too full to order dessert, my companion ordered strawberry rhubarb pie with ice cream and devoured it all.
