    Veggie hash

Stopped by for brunch with friends while we were visiting Vancouver Island. This place was located inside a hotel, and very easy to get to with clear signage. It was also comfortable to hang out in the hotel lobby while we waited for a table (about 10 mins). I tried the veggie hash, which was simple and unassuming but very good. All of the veggies were cooked well, I was specifically impressed by the peppers because most restaurants tend to undercook them. Hollandaise sauce was flavorful and not too salty (another issue I've run into before). And eggs were cooked perfectly as well. It did take a good 20-30 minutes for us to receive our food after ordering but with the quality I didn't mind at all. Our waitress was great and we enjoyed the chill ambiance of the place. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a good simple breakfast!

Veggie Hash- I got the Hollandaise on the side. Poached soft eggs... done to perfection but you can get your eggs done any style.

The Veggie Hash was so delicious!! Best breakfast ever! Carrie and Michelle were the 'dream team' - killing it on a very busy morning. Next time we are in Nanaimo we will definitely be back:)

Wow, they weren't kidding when they named this place "The Breakfast Nook." It was such a cozy, cute restaurant. You can literally see their kitchen if you look over. I was impressed at the quality of food. My eggs benny was really good and filling. Love that bacon is an option as I'm not the biggest ham benny person. Potatoes were decent! My friend got the breakfast hash and she devoured hers. I wasn't the biggest fan of their coffee. It was okay. But it was funny because while we were there a big family wanted to buy some of the beans they used. Different palates, I guess! Good prices. They accommodated us despite being really busy.

Scrambled eggs and toast with a side of bacon for my niece!

Only one open table and a couple of spaces at the counter. The line was short and we were able to order quickly. We ordered a soy latte, a chai tea latte with oat milk and a Nanaimo bar. When our drinks were made a second table opened up and we grabbed it as it actually had chairs! Our drinks were excellent and the Nanaimo bar was just as we expected it to be. Very tasty. Parking may be a problem here as there aren't a lot of spaces. I think all parking is on the street. The whole cafe experience made me think of the 60's in San Francisco (not that I experienced that!) Everyone there seemed quite laid back and enjoying a good experience. They do have live music on many evenings. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Nanaimo.
