We were hesitant to enter the restaurant upon seeing that it's situated in a hotel. Hotel restaurants are often over priced, in my opinion. However that was not the case. The Breakfast Nook was reasonably priced and we were very satisfied with our orders. We both chose the steel cut oats, mine with berry compote and hers with fruit. We were getting tired of bacon and eggs so this was just right. The service was well above average with servers who seemed to be pleased to greet and serve us. Our coffee cups were kept topped off. The cafe was full after we were seated. That may be because it's fairly close to the ferry to Horseshoe Bay. Parking was free but on the street. It may be more of an issue to park on weekdays, but there were ample parking spaces for us on this Saturday. We would definitely recommend this restaurant for your breakfasts and lunches. read more

Stopped by for brunch with friends while we were visiting Vancouver Island. This place was located inside a hotel, and very easy to get to with clear signage. It was also comfortable to hang out in the hotel lobby while we waited for a table (about 10 mins). I tried the veggie hash, which was simple and unassuming but very good. All of the veggies were cooked well, I was specifically impressed by the peppers because most restaurants tend to undercook them. Hollandaise sauce was flavorful and not too salty (another issue I've run into before). And eggs were cooked perfectly as well. It did take a good 20-30 minutes for us to receive our food after ordering but with the quality I didn't mind at all. Our waitress was great and we enjoyed the chill ambiance of the place. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a good simple breakfast! read more

I really enjoyed the breakfast nook. Enough so that I returned several days in a row. Both the scramble and the eggs Benedict were wonderful. The staff were especially friendly and attentive. At one point I had to step out for a call and they took my food back to the kitchen to keep it warm without being asked. I love breakfast and this is one of my favorites. read more

Wow, they weren't kidding when they named this place "The Breakfast Nook." It was such a cozy, cute restaurant. You can literally see their kitchen if you look over. I was impressed at the quality of food. My eggs benny was really good and filling. Love that bacon is an option as I'm not the biggest ham benny person. Potatoes were decent! My friend got the breakfast hash and she devoured hers. I wasn't the biggest fan of their coffee. It was okay. But it was funny because while we were there a big family wanted to buy some of the beans they used. Different palates, I guess! Good prices. They accommodated us despite being really busy. read more

This little Breakfast/lunch place is inside Quality Inn just up from downtown Nanaimo harbour. EXCELLENT food and not a thing on the menu over $20. Definitely will come back next time I'm in Nanaimo. read more

The Breakfast Nook Nanaimo...5 Stars!! This morning was our first experience with The Breakfast Nook restaurant in South Nanaimo along Selby St in the Quality Inn Hotel . We chose to try it out for our step-parents' birthday and hands down did we ever make the right choice, it was amazing!! The service was prompt, friendly, everything correct! The food was absolutely amazing, flavourful, big portions, and all plates were perfect temp! This is a very clean & cozy establishment with special little add-ons like whipped cream on the hot chocolate for my mom and niece and the many of the staff even wished our parent a Happy Birthday when they noticed the gift bags. 100% top notch and well worth the visit! Excellent breakfast location, perfect for a stop after being on the ferry. We were greeted by the friendly staff and our large party was easily accommodated. I ordered the egg hash which has a mixture of peppers, mushrooms, bacon, and ham topped with two eggs and hollandaise sauce over fried potatoes. The hollandaise was just divine. We sat on the upper deck and enjoyed the view with breakfast. Would highly recommend and look forward to eating here again. read more

They have moved and not in the pictured location. I went for brunch two months ago and am going again this weekend! OMG! The best crispy waffles with fruit and cream I've had in years. The waffles were crispy and not soggy. The scrambled eggs were a bit over done for me. But I like mine sloppy. I forgot to tell that. My bad. The servers were so kind and courteous. I also had a business consultation there one evening last fall and we were courteously served and then totally left alone as they could see it was a consultation. But we were treated and fed soooooo well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

Even one scratch releases the toxin into the air and the food. Would suggest they upgrade to stainless steel. Other than that, im sute if you dint mind teflon its a 5 star. read more

We were directed here by some locals. The name of the restaurant says it all. Breakfasts are incredible and tasty. Coffee is perfectly brewed. Will have to try their espresso flight next time there. Very rude waitress. The lady told us that the they are getting a table ready for us, made us wait 20 minutes and gave the table away to some other people who got there later. When we confronted them they said they denied giving our table away at first and when they saw that we are insisting she said"they are very loyal customers who come here every week i will get you another table very soon " and when i told them that this is not fair they said " u can go eat somewhere else. "What is funny is that i have checked all the reviews before i went to this place and i think it's necessary for this review to be here so other people don't face the same discrimination i faced visiting this place. read more

Comfy and delicious! Popped in for breakfast, and were not disappointed... I had a veggie breakfast burrito, he had 2 poached eggs on toast. (We were coffee'd out, but they had an espresso flight that sounded intriguing... We both left full and happy! Service was great, and the atmosphere was so comfortable... just like home!
