Service was horrible. We sat for 1 hour and 30 minutes before our food came. when we inquired about our food, the waitress (with an attitude) disagreed with our assessment of how long it had been and told us the "she wasn't going to argue with us". it is our suspicion that she purposely left our food waiting in the kitchen as when we got it, it was only warm. In the end it was a different waitress that gave us our food. And when the bill came there was no discount as an acknowledgement of our poor experience. I made a yelp account just because of this pub. I was sorely disappointed by their stingy portions. The worst part was their fries, which they served in a small bowl to make it look like they gave you a lot. It's not like potatoes are expensive or scarce, the Irish potato famine is over for crying out loud! DO NOT EAT THEIR FOOD, SAVE YOUR MONEY!! The food here is absolutely disgusting! They need to fire whatever is calling themselves a cook in the back or else this restaurant is doomed.. The cook here lacks the basic knowledge of anything to do with food, and leaves one to wonder why the owners would allow such a travesty run the kitchen. The meat from a microwave dinner is better then the over cooked cold meat smothered in bottled bbq sauce that this "cook" thinks they can call edible. Ordered edamame.. under cooked and literally watched it brine before our eyes because of the amount of salt dumped over the whole thing.. it was inedible and a waste of money. Four star pub food and great atmosphere thanks to the Sunday Night Acoustic Jam . . . . Finally, a nice alternative when staying at The Kingfisher Resort down the way. The place was rocking with the Jam underway when we came in. We stuck out - as everyone else appeared local and knowing of each other - but they made us feel welcome, and the servers were super-friendly. We shared Seafood Mushroom Caps ($11) - an old school favourite, and they were plump with fake crab and shrimp in a herb-garlic creamy breadcrumb filling. More on the seafood, than bread, which was good. There was so much melted mozzarella on top; each bite was addictive. I enjoyed the AAA 6oz sirloin steak dinner ($16) immensely, it was way beyond the average pub steak, cooked as ordered and plated with care with delicious, perfectly cooked fresh vegetables and roasted potatoes. The $1.50 extra for sautéed mushrooms was such a small portion they didn't really add to the meal. My partner's expectations were exceeded with the Fanny Bay Oyster Po Boy ($15) on ciabatta. There was no skimping on the portions - it was overflowing fresh cooked panko-crusted oysters with greens and tartar sauce. Chocolate Ganache Pie ($7.00) was a rich, silky chocolate and peanut butter fix for dessert. All in all, the menu has typical BC pub food, like burgers, fish, pizza, sandwiches, appys, etc., however from what we had the kitchen is really putting care and heart into the dishes. The Jam was good music, great atmosphere. I understand there is a new menu since my October visit . . . Worth a try! read more

Valentine's Day is always busy for restaurants and tonight was certainly the case here. Ordered the valentines dinner special, a three course meal consisting of soup or salad, chicken parmigiana with pasta and chocolate mousse cake and cheesecake for desert. Everything was very good but the chicken parmigiana was a disappointment, a little dry and lacking in seasoning. I expected better for the price. The best part of the evening was our fun, bubbly server who was smiling, happy and really good at her job. I'll gladly go back, hopefully the food quality will improve when the kitchen isn't swamped with orders. read more

Poor service,once again! Why bother!!! Tried to order lunch for staff at a local business, and then was told that the menu on their website is not the same as there takeout menu (which appears NO WHERE on their website!!!!). Every other pub we have ordered from in the area has always provided us with great service and great food! Why cannot Roy's! offer same service!! To bad as we really wanted to support a local business, and now most of us have agreed we will not visit Roy's town at all, as it seems we have all experienced poor service there at one time or another. Delicious! We are often disappointed when we go out....but this friendly pub with its beautiful outdoor patio (with loaded grapevines as shade) does not disappoint. Recently stayed in the Royston area for a luxury spa retreat girlsweekend and while driving to the resort we passed by Roy's Town Pub and thought the name was adorable and we must stop for food. This is a great pub. They have a diverse menu with lots of fresh fish meals, and good old comfort food. We arrived around happy hour and they were already running out of meals. This does not bother me at restaurants cause it tells me the food is good and limited (specially with fish) once they've cooked it, it's off the menu. They do not compromise the meals with lesser quality food. They had a great wine on for happy hour and carried some great craft beer. The meals... well they are a full meal, you are not going hungry. The portion sizes are massive. Not one of the 4 of us finished the meal. In addition they have side services. If you are staying at the local resort, they will arrange for a limo service to pick you up and take you back. They realize they are a pub and the possiblity of drinking could happen and they want to make sure you get home safe to enjoy your retreat and if you wish, a few extra drinks without the fear of how to get home safe. That's a pub going the extra mile, and supporting other local businesses. read more

I like to match my beverage with my meal. After three tries to explain this to the server. I just left. She kept pushing drinks... and me right out the door. I later mentioned on their Facebook page how it was "disappointing". Someone kept trying to contact me all night. Then when I finally answered, they kept insisting it was my fault I was disappointed. The kept this conversation up until after midnight. I then had to block them. I think they need to reassess how pressuring a customer, who was only disappointed, to never planning to return. This is a nice local pub. Close to the beach. From the outside it might look a bit sketchy, but I assure you it is a great little local pub. Everyone was very nice and friendly! And the fish tacos were amazing. read more

Little sketchy upon arrival. Looks like a biker bar but when we walked inside it was all locals. (Reminded me of roadhouse) Our waitress w/ the dreads was nice. Decent service for a busy pub. I had the Royston Regal pizza. Really decent. Good crust. He had the Montana beef dip. He said it was moist and a lil tangy. Good portion of meat. Would recommend. We also started w/ the seafood mushroom caps. Very good, very cheesy. Decent amount of seafood. It was Friday night. Band was meh.. Only heard 2 songs as they had their 8-13 yr old daughters playing about 5 or so songs before they went on. read more

Good pub on the side of the highway. Was a little chilly...had to keep my jacket on. Nicely decorated and very clean! Had fish and chips. Needed to be cooked a little more.....more batter than fish. Veggie burger tastey. read more
