i booked a manicure and pedicure at this location. When i arrive i was told to go to a chair where the lady was filling the basin. I bought my foot in and it was boiling hot, i immediate told her it was too hot and she added some cold water. then i had to ask she could add some Epson salts or something . she got up and went and got a little blue solution. i noticed that the towel that she had put down was filthy. looked like blood on it. i told her to get another towel. Came in for a Sunday manicure. It was so rushed. The nail polish isn't even to my cuticles. It doesn't really look great now, so it definitely won't tomorrow or the next day. I realise it is a $20 service, but I don't treat myself to manis all that much and would have liked a bit more care taken. Booked an appointment one month ago and whoever picked up the phone couldn't speak English properly and booked us in for the wrong time today. Firstly, whoever is picking up the phone and booking appointments should be able to communicate and understand English properly. Secondly, we booked this according to our plans and work so we were so frustrated and when we offered constructive feedback the staff just nodded and smiled. They've definitely lost my business as well as the friends I bring there. The work itself isn't always consistent. Some girls are great and some girls really DO NOT know what they're doing. You can definitely get a lot better service with staff that can communicate effectively for a way better price somewhere else. Lastly, they were not apologetic and kept insisting we made an appointment for 330pm which is a complete fabrication because we both worked till 4:30pm and specifically asked for this time for a reason. I have been getting my nails done for years and know when someone hasn't taken the time or care in doing your nails. Do not get full sets of nails from this place. There are air bubbles all over each of my nails, which means the powder is old and they do not know how to apply it properly.My nails are going to peel and look horrible. My pedicure was rushed and he didn't do everything I normally get at other places. The polish is nice but the application could have been done by a 10 year old. This place is really close to where I work so I've been here a few times out of desperation, which also means I've been here enough times to have a feel for the place. Maybe I've just had a lot of good manicures in my life, but I really don't recommend this place. If any of the following things bug you when you're getting a manicure, don't go here! -they spray and rub alcohol on your fingers a minimum of 5 times during the manicure. this is so drying for the cuticles and it actually kind of burns my fingers! -they cut your cuticles as much as humanly possible. they dig deep and I swear they were about to hit bone. -they insist that you wash your hands after they give you a hand massage with lotion. why? I have no idea. can't they just wipe off the lotion from your nails with a cloth. that's what most places do! -their nail envy (that they use as a top coat) is so diluted with nail polish remover that it is pink rather than clear and i think there's a chance that they just pour no-name brand top coat into the OPI bottles to make it seem fancier I will not be returning to this place ever! ps: I've heard their waxes are awful! read more

Well I went to this nail salon out of desperation because my usual place was fully booked and my nails needed attention.... And I'll never return again. The man that did my pedicure cut the cuticles so closed to the edge it hurt so bad :( and then he shoved all the cuticles from my toes to my fingers so hard he sliced 3... Causing them to bleed. :( I noticed he wasn't paying attention and just kept pushing them so hard without looking. I kept telling him it hurt!!! So as he removed my cuticles with the cutter he clipped my nails so hard and roughly 2 started to bleed... And when I yelped "Ouch!!!" And pulled my hand back 2x - all he said "did that hurt???" - OF COURSE it did Sherlock!!! Please please do yourself a favour and don't go here! I wish I could give zero!!! I pretty much went straight home and sprayed Bactene and polysporin to my hands and feet just in case I get an infection! read more

After a few more visits since the business changed hands I have to admit I won't be coming here any more. The cleanliness and quality has gone down, and even with booking appointments they will say yes and have you sit with your feet in the water for 35+ minutes til your water is cold and they don't have someone yet to do your nails. The last manicure pedicure I got here they didn't use top coat on either and within two days my sister and I both had removed our finger nail polish because it chipped so badly. They also use this manky soft bristle brush that looks like a baby hair brush to scrub your feet toes and ankles and I had to hold back my horror as there is absolutely no way to clean that between clients. read more

Extremely disappointed. NEVER MAKE APPOINTMENTS HERE! I made an appointment 3 days in advance for my friend and I and confirmed with the lady on the phone that we could be done within 45 minutes as we were on our lunch break. When we arrived, the place was absolutely packed. Not one spa attendant was available. They just told us to "pick a color". I explained we had an appointment and needed to be out of there in 45 minutes. They didn't response to me. "Pick a color and sit down". One of the clients told us she also made an appointment and had been waiting with her feet being soaked for 20 minutes with no service. I used to go to Fancy Nails every two weeks so I was pretty excited about going to get pampered as I never get to these days. After today, I was so disappointed and let down. I will never return here and will tell all of my friends never to go there also. read more

My husband and I have just returned from what is unquestionably the most horrible, careless and unforgivably insolent experience we have ever had with our pedicures. We have been to many nail spa locations in the lower mainland, often returning. We would not recommend this nail spa, the concept of customer service is non existent, I have a bleeding toe, and we are pretty certain the sanitation practices stipulated by the health board are not being followed. I had an appointment for an expresss pedi as I was on a tight schedule and was assured I would be in and out in 45 minutes. Got there to find every chair being used and technicians working on two people at a time. I was told to pick a color and have a seat, and was informed by another patron sitting in a chair that she too had an appointment and so far had been waiting 20 minutes. Clearly this is a walk-in only establishment and not for tired, working mom's hoping for a scheduled break. Do not book an appointment and expect it to mean anything! This place is close to grandma's house, which is why I decided to give it a try. Big mistake. I went for a pedicure as I was going out of town and the lady ended up cutting both my big toes as a result of scrubbing my feet too harshly. In addition to that, I had paid $25 just for shellac nail polish that began chipping within one week. I have only had pedicures here but have had many. It is very clean with great massage chairs. They give you a thorough pedicure with calf massage but still get the job done in about 75 minutes so your not stuck there all day. Several of the staff are excellent at nail art. None speak English at a conversational level but I bring a book so mindless chatter is not what I'm after. Pricing is on the low end of market and very worth what is provided. My girlfriend took me to a fancy salon up by Highgate mall that she gets 'the works' done at and she prefers them but even money aside I prefer these guys. Only came here because I had a gift voucher for this place. Asked the nail technician for short nails, I was told it could be done later in the process so I waited. Near the end, I asked once more to have my nails filed down and was told it was too late. After paying nearly $60 dollars I left very unsatisfied. Needless to say I will not be coming back here. I have only gotten gel nails done here, but I will not return. They are way too rough cutting the cuticles and filing down my previous fill. Also, the communication level is very poor. Came here with my friend after she recommended it - they did a great job! Got a full acrylic set and an eyebrow wax. It was a busy day but we were both done a full set of nails in about an hour and 45 mins, not bad at all! There have been some changes under the new management. What I don't understand is the plastic in the foot basin. It is not eco friendly nor does it allow the client to take full advantage of the chair. Refused the plastic. The staff has changed and there are only two original staff. This was my first (and last) time at Fancy Nails (if you can call it fancy). Maybe they chose the name to accompany their awkward and bad taste in "french" manicures or gel nail shapes which i might add I've never seen done this way, perhaps because of the distastefulness. I desperately needed to get my nails filled because of an important interview the next day and in light of the fact I was attending a birthday party that evening. Fancy nails was on my route that day as I was picking up my niece that evening in burnaby. I went in and asked the nail tech to give me a gel fill and keep the same shape of my nails. During the fill the tech kept filing my nails aggressively to the point where i started to bleed. I expressed to him the agonizing pain I was in and he took little notice or initiative to rectify the state of my nails. Later when I asked to keep the shape, he filed them down to an awkward round shape (I mean some round is beautiful yes, but not this round) He had little to no consideration of what I had asked for and in the end I left in pain and with the worst nails I have had in 10 years! I will never be back and I highly recommend to anyone considering "Fancy" Nails to shop around and reconsider before stepping foot in an establishment that does Not put the customer First!. read more
