Wow! I was so excited to try a new (to me) Middle Eastern restaurant! I met up with friends…read morerecently on a Wednesday night at Layalina Restaurant & Lounge. It was very quiet on a Wednesday night, so we had a lot of chances to get to know the restaurant owner. He was so friendly and welcoming! What a great guy! I recommended that he contact Yelp to set up a Yelp Elite event there sometime. They definitely have the space. When you walk in, there is an area for smoking hookahs. The hookahs did not have much of an odor (not like cigarette smoke), so it didn't impede on our dining experience. The atmosphere is basically a large banquet hall with a stage. The owner advised they do lots of events there, especially on the weekends. They also have a huge patio. The food! Wow! What huge, generous portions! We were all thrilled with our orders. The hummus is so creamy and delicious. They have a large menu, with photos to help you make your choices. Everything was plated beautifully and tasted amazing. I can't wait to go back and try some of their fish dishes. I was told they get fresh fish on a regular basis.

We lived in a prominent middle eastern neighborhood in NYC before Phoenix and I can say with certainty that this is the best middle eastern food we've had here, bar none. Before you spend any money at whatever halfassed chain restaurant you usually visit, come here first and walk away with full bellys at very reasonable prices. You won't be disappointed.

The owners are genuinely wonderful people and you can feel the heart behind the restaurant from the moment you walk in. The husband is always cooking in the back, and his wife regularly helps us when we come in (AND she's also an amazing baker!) They've introduced us to so many different sauces, breads, and menu items through generous samples, including flavors and dishes I hadn't tried anywhere else before. I always order the chicken shawarma wrap house style with whatever they normally recommend because it is PERFECT every single time. No notes. The zaatar fries are also absolutely addictive, and their bread is unreal. The owner also turned us onto the chicken Philly cheesesteak, which is incredible on her fresh bread. This has become one of our favorite spots for both takeout and quick casual meals. The service is next level, the food is always fresh and flavorful, and the entire experience feels warm and welcoming every time. Highly, highly recommend.

MidEast Eats has really gone downhill the past few months. Used to be 4.5-5*. Going to keep my eyes open for recent Yelp reviews and hope they are rated higher. Pros 1. Fairly inexpensive. I'd rather pay a bit more and have it go back to how good it used to be. 2. I like that it's a "mom and pop" restaurant. Cons 1. I ordered a gyro salad today via Door Dash. The food arrived with the steaming hot meat on top of the cold lettuce, which made the whole salad wilted and soggy. 2. The Iraqi bread used to be so good but now tastes more processed and not as fresh nor homemade. 3. The gyro meat seemed steamed or microwaved and not cooked right. Same with koobideh that I ordered that was supposed to be medium temp and it was rare and mushy -- almost raw.

My first experience at Casa De Falafel was phenomenal. As I approached the counter, I was told by…read morethe kind and gracious gentleman my falafel experience would change after trying the one they offer... For a split second, I thought, "That's a good way to intrigue someone to buy and try..." but NO, he turns around for a mere moment with a sample and my eyes lit up, I finished my order "beef Pita," (of which was extremely flavorful, tender, and fresh... the pita had great consistency and it all disappeared in seconds) but sorry, I digress, there I was, grabbing the strawberry lemonade and walking towards the table when yet again, the kind man asked, "how is the lemonade?" To which I respond, "great!" He then proceeded to pull me an additional cup, "please, try the others as well, they're homemade!" A mango pineapple and a passion fruit were awaiting my pallet, and soon enough... they too, were gone. The falafel was absolutely incredible, crispy outside, soft and flavorful and not dry, that's the big one for me... the falafel was perfect... there was only one thing wrong, so I asked... "can I order four more!? and some baklava too" (to take home of course...) I did sneak a bite of the baklava though, again, so tasty, perfect amount of sweetness, not overly sticky, and the right size to end the meal. Casa De Falafel is one that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND... I can't wait to go back and explore more of the menu... they will definitely be the only place that I go for a falafel craving... THANK YOU!

I ordered the full Sinbad De Luxe plate (2 tikas, 2 kebabs) w biryani, samoon, and tahini ($25). Owner came with a bowl of lentil soup for me to start with, which was very tasty and flavorful. I enjoyed the kabobs (ground meat) more than the tikas, but both were very good! The beef tika and kebob came atop a piece of bread, which sopped up residual juices and was eaten. Overall, extremely reasonable price for the amount and quality of food. You can see into the kitchen, and where they make the fresh bread, which is kinda nice. The owner single-handedly was taking orders, bringing out food, and bussing tables. Pay at the front when you're ready. Also, I thiiiink there's complimentary tea/drink at the front in the hot drink dispenser, but I'll just have to come back and see!
