Mutton thali
Atul S.

Updated review: This place stinks now. Went there today and very dissatisfied. Smell was unbearable. They really need professional cleaning in their restaurant. Food quality is deteriorating too. Might not return soon here. --------- This place is definitely on my top list of frequently visited restaurant. If I have to suggest 3 things to anyone , then below is my list : 1- Mutton thali 2- Chicken thali 3- Chicken dum biryani Thali comes with so much stuffs that you definitely can't eat alone. Something or other will be left. Would suggest 2 people to share one thali. Most authentic biryani they have is chicken dum biryani. Other biryani options are just okay not so great

This place has good chicken tikka masala (pictured) & chicken curry. The naan was pretty good too. Their servings should be bigger but I loved this food.

Update 07-20-2020 Things are not normal now, it seems everything is moving backwards, gravity is pulling anything that is not nailed, screwed, or riveted down up into the sky. The POTUS is showing symptoms of untreated syphilis in public. He doesn't even remember who he ripped off ... never ordered any salad, & I don't drink Coke. Please don't attempt to reach me again. Dudeman got the wrong person, confused? Days like this I miss living in LA. Original 07-14-2020 The guy at the counter ripped me off here for a $8 tip charge that he added on after I signed on his machine. I'm in the process of disputing the charges with my credit card company. The total of my takeout was $48 plus change, after reviewing my statement from Discover, I found out he charged $56 and change. Considering this Indian has a hole in the wall with mediocre food at best, I'm wondering how this greedy thief still manages to stay in business.

Chili paneer

I have to start off by saying I really really wanted to like this place a ton, but the food quality made it very hard for me to do so. So first things first, Daawat is a little hole in the wall type restaurant with a handful of tables. It is very quaint and seems to be family run for the most part. Overall, you do feel like you are getting some sort of authentic Indian food experience from this vibe alone. However, the food hit a low 2.5/5.0 for me. The service was excellent which is what makes me round this up to a 3.0/5.0. My family and I dropped by Daawat on a Friday around 1:00 pm. We put in our order quite quickly and the kitchen really pushed out the appetizers in a timely manner. We had the onion pakora and the chili paneer. Tastewise, both dishes were fine, nothing spectacular, nothing terrible. Be warned that the onion pakora portion is GIANT, definitely something to share! For our entrees we had the paneer butter masala, aloo palak, daal, and thayir sadam/curd rice. We also grabbed some garlic naan and plain naan. Frankly, the curries were all extremely heavy. I know, I know paneer butter masala screams fat and heaviness, but even so, it had an excess amount of oil. The aloo palak was also very oily and even the daal was somewhat overwhelming. I had heard that the naan at this place was great so I was super looking forward to it, but it was honestly a let down. The garlic naans had both been overdone to the point of being crispy and the plain naan had areas that were overdone as well. The greatness of naan to me is that soft, flaky texture and we really missed out on that during this meal. We all picked at the food because of how oily and heavy it was and ultimately had a bunch of leftovers that none of us really looked forward to eating. I want to give this place the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe this lack of quality was because of a busy lunch hour, but frankly I won't be dropping by this place any time soon.

Lassie, just for dinner

Nice clean counter served Indian food. Delicious mango lassie and good tasty naan (bread). Liked it for some change and wasn't disappointed at all.

Their clam chowder is the absolute best in the state and since we went to Seattle, acriss state lines too in our opinion. Mom's too. When she was in the hospital after a stroke and refused to eat anything they helped us out with thinning the chowder down a little for her because we were worried it would be too thick. And this was the only thing she regularly ate besides frostys so we were so appreciative of the staff for helping us with that. It's a great memory we reminisce on, now that she has past. But as always love the food and recommend the fish and chips, get your cod grilled or fried both are amazing. Their calamari is amazing too!

I tried to avoid an all fried meal, so had their broiled cod, steamed veggies plate. I didn't want the seafood pasta salad and substituted with hush puppies (oh well so much for not wanting anything fried). The broiled cod was pretty terrible, rubbery and overcooked and tasteless. I really had to try and finish all of my meal. The steamed veggies felt like they were frozen and just steamed up. Hush puppies were solid but then again you can't go wrong with the taste of fried, right? They have a soda fountain here and seltzer water and lemons available. Place was clean and bathrooms were fine. Also, had an outside patio space too. Sadly, I really wanted to like this place, but everything was pretty lackluster here minus the excellent service. I doubt I'll be coming back here, unless I may want some hush puppies...

I preferred the regular pork soup dumplings to the seafood ones. The seafood ones had a faint echo Szechuan peppercorns in them which I didn't like. My husband really likes their spicy beef noodle soup. This location doesn't have the lamb soup even though it's on their printed menus. Each table has a QR code that you use to order and once you've made your selections, someone comes by to confirm your order. You can also place your drink orders with them when they come to confirm your order. When you're ready to pay, you confirm that you want to pay via the ordering system. Then someone comes with your check. The restaurant is smaller but the staff is quick to clean tables and set them up again for the next customer. When you arrive, utensils, napkins, and plates are already on the table. They're quick to bring out a small container of refreshingly cold ice water and cups while you peruse the menu.

This location has been on my personal wishlist for some time and finally made my first visit over the weekend with Hubby. My only regret for this visit was not ordering more dishes to try. Hubby and I only ordered entrees for ourselves. They are perfectly filling and absolutely delicious. Hubby got the Hong Kong Fried rice while I had the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup. Hubby described his dish as porky heaven with the inclusion of bacon and BBQ pork. Mine was beefy heaven - they were generous with the beef and true to its name, it was a little spicy. I would say it was a 2 to 3 on a scale of 5. Service was very minimal. You order through scanning a QR code at your table and staff will just drop off your drinks and order and take your payment. This is great if you like being left alone. If you are someone who likes more attention, this could be strange. The space is very casual and small. Perfect for solo diners, couples, and small groups. Large parties will be difficult as it is a small space and I would recommend calling ahead to see if they can accommodate. I can't wait to go back and bring more family and friends.

If that is what you're looking for you might find yourself to be a little disappointed. This is not that kind of a joint. (no waiters, no waitresses, no tableside service, but no high prices and ridiculous exorbitant tipping expectations either). At first using the GPS, this place was hard to find until I realize we are not looking for a sit down restaurant...it's a drive up and drive-through restaurant, it's basically made for takeout dining exclusively! Don't let that fool you though because the food at this place slaps! Lol! We had a lobster roll, a Mexican salad (served on a large flour tortilla, as a burrito!) as well as the flatbread and chicken quesadillas. They were all excellent (if you're from the East Coast, you might be disappointed by the lobster roll because it's a local interpretation of what a lobster roll would be like ) and they are among our favorite things to pick up when we want to grab food and take it back home.. The prices are very affordable! In a time when you can't touch a meal for less than somewhere between 15 and $20 this place you can feed your whole family for that even their drinks are inexpensive. They actually have a lot of locations sprinkled throughout the greater phoenix area. my experience is that some locations are a little better than others in terms of customer service and efficiency but generally speaking I like the price and I like the food no matter which location I go to but invariably some are better than others.

Server was great! attentive and had all the answers for our questions!…read more The place was pretty slow, we were the only customers the whole time we were there but that was ok! It was clean and the typical Spanish videos we're playing! We ordered the toritos , which is basically a bacon wrapped yellow pepper stuffed with cream and Camarón ! They were pretty good. I wish they had been hotter as far as spicy goes but i don't think they can totally control that! i would order again. We then got a grilled fish taco and a breaded shrimp taco. The grilled pescado (fish-bass) was really good! Good seasoning, tender and perfect temp. I would order again. The Camarón is breaded with a thicker kind of batter which, if not cooked properly, the inside is doughy. The proportion of Camarón was perfect! For both tacos, the tortillas I think are steamed which makes them break apart almost immediately after taking the first bite. the slaw is chopped, I like it thinly sliced but that just a preference. I do wish they would give us the bottles of chipotle mayo vs them putting it on for us. One had almost none and the other had just a dab . and i'm not sure exactly what the dressing was. We then tried the Camarón Culichi . It needed just a few more seconds , temperature wise. The sauce started breaking almost immediately. It was also very bland . Good proportion of Shrimp! Finally the Camarón y Pulpo cocktail. Unfortunately, this was also very bland but the bigger kicker was the Camarón was not cleaned. This left a dirty taste in your mouth. Like you really just ate dirt. We were confused because the Camarón for the dinners are cleaned but not for the cocktails? All in all , I would try this place again but with some skepticism.
