I cannot believe it has taken me this long to rate them! Every single thing we have eaten here has been delicious and authentic. My personal favorites are the shrimp roast or chicken roast, Malabar porottas, Andhra Kara dosa, and chicken Manchurian. This tastes exactly like the food in India, but word of warning, their food is fairly spicy in the best way possible. The flavors are bold, rich, and incredibly fresh, and you can tell everything is made with care. It's rare to find a place that nails both South Indian dishes and Indo-Chinese flavors this well. Hands down my favorite Indian restaurant. The people working here are wonderful as well, always welcoming, kind, and happy to help with recommendations. I have never had dosa before and enough videos popped up for me to finally venture out. In all honesty I've never really experienced south indian food so I was really excited. I got the spring masala dose and chicken tikka fries. The dosa itself was very light and crispy. I enjoyed the chutneys they came with and the filling of this dosa was good. I definitely want to come back and try different dosas. The chicken tikka fries were hot, saucy and very flavorful. Dosa Place is a delicious southern Indian restaurant in an innocuous shopping plaza in Glendale. The food was so flavorful and spicy it made a wonderful dinner spot! There was only one worker on a Thursday night and a couple tables, but he was amazing at coming over to us and asking if we had any questions. He then proceeded to give us a rundown of all the most popular dishes and what he personally recommends for our tastes. He was so sweet! We ordered the Majestic Gobi ( 5/5) which was lightly fried cauliflower tossed in a sweet tangy creamy sauce for the appetizer. This was a standout dish! We asked to save the plate at the table because we wanted to soak up the sauce with our other dishes. For entrees we got the Malabar Chicken Curry (4/5), which is a Kerala curry dish with coconut milk. I'm very glad we asked for a little less spicy because we were sweating after a couple bites! The flavor was delicious and it balanced well with the rice it comes with. We decided to add an order of Garlic Naan (4/5) to eat with the curry. It was a lot thinner and crispier than I am used to, but delicious nonetheless. Finally we ordered the Paneer Masala Dosa (4.5/5), which was perfectly crispy and came with coconut chutney, sambar, and tomato chutney. Huge! We couldn't finish it but the leftovers were still so delicious. The Mango Lassi (4.5/5) was delicious as well it had a hint of ginger? I had never had before in a mango lassi, though I wish it came in a bigger cup! I would definitely come back whenever I am craving a dosa. Plenty of parking in the large strip mall lot. If you're looking for traditional kerala food then dosa place is a must visit. I'm a huge fan of their vegetable kothu Parota and crave it all the time. It's absolutely delicious and comes with raita and salna. I can't stress on it enough. It's a must try. We've tried a couple of dishes here including the medu vadas, biryanis, and kerala thali. Taste has always been good. The ambience is decent and so is the service. It's worth a visit for sure! read more

I asked the staff for any recommendations, but they didn't have anything to recommend. My group ordered an onion dosa and several curries. Vegan review -- "Delightful" is the first word that popped into mind when I finished my leftovers from Dosa Palace. We're freaks for dosas, and when we saw a new owner took over from the previous place we headed west to give it a try. First - I love how well the vegan items are clearly marked on their menu. It gave me a strong sense that they understood the definition and were a good spot for vegans. Second - they actually used the words "favorite vegan curries" in the "discover our story" blurb on their homepage. Nice! My husband and I ordered our usual first time order for trying new dosa places - veggie samosas, mysore masala dosa and rava masala dosa, and specified that we were vegan. The samosas were well cooked - nice and hot inside and lightly browned on the outside. I couldn't tell if they were baked or fried - I suspect baked because they weren't greasy. The spice level was mild, but the mint chutney provided the needed (for me) kick. It was fresh and tangy. The tamarind chutney was on the thicker side, which I love, and not too sweet. All good to start! As expected, the dosas were huge, which is part of the fun. I normally take half home. Similar to the samosas, they weren't greasy and were perfectly prepared. The only difference between them is that the mysore masala dosa is made with lentils and rice, and smeared with spicy chutney on the inside. The rava masala dosa is made with semolina flour and not as spicy. Both contain the typical potato and veg mixture inside, and were served with sambar (spicy veg soup) and two chutneys. One was a robust red chutney that seemed to be a tomato base with maybe eggplant bits in it? No clue, but it was delicious. It was not spicy - just flavorful. The second chutney was a sweet coconut one, which might have included a touch of mint? It was a nice coolant for the spicy soup! All great! The service was great - prompt, friendly and well-timed. I also liked some of the little touches - such a slice of onion and flavorful salt on the plate with the samosas, extra chutney for my leftovers, and a full bottle of water for the table. They also had really cool water bottles. One recommendation: It would be helpful if the menu had full descriptions of the items, i.e., I'm very curious about what a "beetroot dosa" might be, but I ordered my usual because nothing compelled me to experiment a bit. Tell me what's in them! I'm also curious about the dessert samosa but wasn't clear what would be vegan - maybe they could offer a vegan ice cream, banana and chocolate sauce? Please? read more

This dish was better than from some Indian Restaurants but was an Americanized version with mild heat and some flavors. It wasn't just tomato vegetable soup. This one had the lentils, curry and a mild heat. We shared the chicken chettinadu. It was a sudden urge to have Kerala food on a Saturday noon, and without even thinking, we went to this place even after having a bad previous experience. But to our surprise, this place pleasantly amazed us. As opposed to how it was, the place was crowded, and the service was just awesome. We started with mango lassi for kids and season juices for adults. I just wished they served their lassis in a bigger cup, because the size was too small for my kids and they kept asking for more. We then ordered dry prawns, chicken starters, Malabar parotta, veg kurma, and masala dosa, which didn't take much time to be on our table. Everything tasted yummy, and the portion size was also quite generous. Out of these, dry prawns and Malabar porotta were my favorites. (So bad that I cannot remember the exact shrimp dish name. But I will update it once I figure it out) We ended our meal with their extra rich and creamy rasamalai. Must say, the server was very attentive and ensured we had everything to enjoy our lunch. A very average experience . Ordered mixed veg uthapam and egg kothu parotta. Both were very average. Sambar was quite ordinary . Coconut chutney was good. Tomato chutney didn't have much flavor other than tangy . Uthapam itself was different in texture but was eatable. Kothu parotta was a let down . Very subdued taste and Salna was forgettable . Just ordered some food from here over phone and picked it up. Owner was rude over the phone and rushed me to order because they were "busy". My first time here, and honestly his service was very poor. He didn't really let me ask questions or answer patiently. I went in and after paying and leaving a tip, I asked him for extra chutney and he was trying to charge me extra. Even after leaving a tip. He was very short and rude with helping me. Also, upon checking my bag they had forgot to add my white rice in the bag with my butter chicken order. Luckily I checked in the restaurant and noticed Idk, I'm going to give the food a shot. The food was OK. The Gobi Manchurian was excellent. But the Dosas were just OK. What was really disappointing was the service. We ordered delivery and got two curries, two dosas and the Gobi Manchurian. When the food arrived, they did not deliver rice. We were so hungry as it was a long wait for the food that we just went ahead and ate. I called the restaurant the next day and told them that they did not deliver the rice. They said to come in and order more food and they will give us the missing rice. That's right... to make up for their mistake, they wanted us to order more food. I told them that I just wanted the rice as we had some leftovers and could use the rice with that. They said to just come on in and they would give us rice. I told them that we would prefer that they deliver the rice and they said, "well, we use delivery services." I said that was fine with me and to go ahead and deliver the rice. Their next line just amazes me... "sir, the rice is complimentary... we don't charge for it". They were implying that since it's a 'free' item, they can't deliver it. I should have asked if they just hand out this 'complimentary' rice to anyone that walks in. He just kept emphasizing that the rice was free. Clearly, it's only 'free' when you spend money on food. So just how 'free' is that? So they never delivered the rice and never contacted me. Sorely disappointed as our meal was over $90 for two curries, two dosas and Gobi Manchurian. We will never.... Ever.... Ever... order from this joint again. And if anyone asks for recommendations for Indian fare, we will actively recommend that they not eat here. read more

My buddy and I stopped in for lunch, finding this place strictly on Yelp and using the ratings score to guide us. Upon entry we were nicely greeted and seated in a comfortable spot. The place has a zen vibe to it and is a nice relaxing space. Our intent for the visit was to get some Goat Biryanis. We scanned over the menu and decided on a couple starters, the Chili Chicken and the Samosas. We put in an order of the Garlic Naan to go with the Biryanis. The food comes out at a comfortable pace, gives time to converse and catch up with your dining partner(s). Both of the apps were amazing, so vibrant and rich in flavor and spice. The sauces were just insane and the consistency of the Samosa was perfect. The star of our lunch the Goat Biryanis was exactly what we were expecting. The rice was enriching and again colorful in spices. The Goat was flavorful and married perfectly within the dish. My buddy got an order of the Rasmalai as a dessert, he seemed to enjoy it. I tried a tiny spoonful, it was a nice little coolant for the tongue given the nice amount of spices with lunch. We have tried so many dosa places. This restaurant has good service and dosas are yummy. They don't put tons of spice in their sambar like other places do, where you can't even enjoy the food because it's too spicy. My kids and I could totally handle it. We tried this restaurant a couple weeks back and had their Masala Dosa and Vadas at the restaurant. Since we liked these very much we ordered a beef, chicken and fish curries to take home. They were very good. This restaurant serves Kerala cuisine. Today is Onam in Kerala and we ordered their Onam Sadhya (feast) for the occasion. Everything was very good.
