My second "sweet tea" that was actually unsweetened.
    Brian K.

I was going to write a really long review about how bad my experience at Famous Dave's was, but I decided to summarize it instead. From start to finish, the service was incredibly slow. I ordered sweet tea twice, and got regular tea twice. I ordered the BBQ nachos, and there may have been a misunderstanding, but I got BBQ nachos with brisket. I thought I was getting pulled pork. Some of the meat was cold, some of the beens were cold, and all of the chips were cold. Also, some of the chips were stale, the brisket was dried out, and there were some sad looking pieces of lettuce on top. I was unimpressed, but hungry, so I ate the food anyway. I got the bill and it was $56.00! My server billed me for another table's food.l by mistake. When I complained about that and the charge for the brisket, they adjusted the bill, but they were rude about it. I couldn't understand why the place was so empty when I walked in. I did when I walked out!

Bosses took me here for lunch. We were seated right away. It was a bit dim inside, but enough lighting to see your food. Got to try their ribs, brisket, mashed potato, and cornbread. The ribs and brisket was tasty. Wasn't as salty as I expected. Which I prefer. The mashed was okay. The cornbread was a bit on the dry side, but still good. I was more so into the meat. The service was great from beginning to end of our visit.

It had been awhile since we last dined in. We usually pickup some takeout for my wife's mom and/or sometimes for ourselves. Today, we visited this Famous Dave's twice. Once driving up to drop off groceries and food for my M-I-L. Then driving home we decided to actually eat here. We shared a three-item combo plate with burnt ends, bbq pulled chicken, and Roasted chicken. Our sides were the mac & cheese and French fries. The chicken was tender and juicy. The mac & cheese has diced jalapeños in it, so it has a kick. The burnt ends were good and also the cornbread! Ashley D (I think) was our server. She was very friendly, helpful, and attentive, as she checked on us a few times. She was sweet and had a great personality.

4 for food, 5 for our server Famous Britney. Ribs, roasted chicken, beans, mac&cheese is delicious, pork was a bit salty. Famous Britney gave us her insider food recs. She's friendly and genuine.

Famous Amy was our waitress and she was exceptional very polite and knowledgeable about the menu. Everyone in our party enjoyed their individual meals. They have plenty to choose from Ribs, Brisket, chicken, they have a lot of sandwiches I loved the cornbread I got banana pudding for dessert. It was my Birthday and I really enjoyed everything. I will be back and I suggest if you're in the area make sure to stop by.

Came for company birthday lunch with coworkers. We got seated in a booth. Food was super filling. I ordered a 2-combo, tri-tip and beef brisket. It came with cornbread comes with it, and I chose mac and cheese and broccoli as sides. They also helped us store a birthday cake, which they brought out when we were ready for dessert.

Famous Dave's is not too bad. I came here on a Sunday afternoon, it wasn't too crowded and was served/greeted hella fast. I ended up getting a 2 meat combo sausage and brisket. The food wasn't too bad, the sauces were good also. Kinda want them to have a Carolina gold sauce though. All the food was good, I just wish it wasn't as steep. Overall it's a decent place if you're craving bbq.

The worker that day was super sweet and I really appreciate good customer service now a days. A little kindness can make someone's day !! The food: corn bread 10/10, Mac n cheese 3/10 (it was very watery and not much flavor) hot links 6/10 they have a weird texture I think because they are home made... but the overall taste was decent... also in there defense I got the last batch of the day... I truly believe that there is potential here, but a lot of things would have to change. When you walk in, BBQ is not the first thing you smell. I'm the type that if you can smell the BBQ when you get out of the car, it's probably about to be pretty dang good. I got all the way into the restaurant and it was just a vague smell... not necessarily bad, but not necessarily food, either. * The Mac n' Cheese recipe needs to be re-thought and revised. It was watery, tasteless and not what you would expect from a black owned business. * The cornbread is expensive and not given as sidecar to your sides. I'd rather pay a little more for food overall when I buy a plate and get cornbread than have to ask for and purchase a side of cornbread. As far as taste, if I wasn't eating it with the greens, it wouldn't have been very good standalone. * I had the rib plate.... No rub in sight, not even the slightest hint of salt and pepper coating. It was almost like the ribs go straight from package to smoker, no process in between. They seem to take the angle of drowning them in sauce, which is overly tangy seems like a bulk purchase sauce, rather than a house made sauce. BBQ sauce is too simple to make to not hone in on your own sauce recipe. The ladies who plate the food chop the ribs in half as a means to fit them into the carton, but to be honest, I don't wanna see or taste pigs marrow when I'm eating my ribs. Ribs were also very dry and over-charred... a few pieces. * The greens were the best thing on the whole plate to be honest. * Lastly, the hot sauce packets were puffy and swollen, which is never a good sign. Never seen that before until I came here. Also, I asked for extra BBQ sauce and was told that would be an extra charge..... this was already a tip off that they don't get a lot of business and now they're at the "nickels & dimes" point of their day-to-day operations. All in all, it just seems like the labor of love has been lost on this place, as it was recommended to me by someone who says it was good years ago. While that might be true, it seems the family has gotten too comfortable with their neighborhood regulars to keep the doors open and the quality is slipping as the month and years pass. If you're reading this as the owner, I hope this is a motivator for you to restructure and re-brand so that you become a "line out the door" business, because in today's climate, it only takes one influencer to enter your doors and call your food "certified" or "trash" for YouTube, IG, Twitch etc.. Be brave and make changes.

I'm gonna check with my NorCal moots about this but sucks if that's true. I was going to comment on how this is one of few bastions of affordable, slightly more unique food in the bay area, but I guess that's not the case. I'm spoiled by having a Dollar Hits in SoCal literally down the street from me so I can't say this place compares, but it's at least an option for NorCal, you know? This definitely used to be another restaurant, but then retrofitted to be a grill. Super large grill in the middle for everyone to communally cook at indoors. This is a good combination between the outdoors grill it yourself and the indoors seating of both the SoCal Dollar Hits, so I thought that was nice. They have all the classics here, isaw (sometimes Dollar Hits doesn't have this unless you request -it's chicken intestines), large intestines, chicken skin, kwek kwek (battered quail eggs), and Tender Juicy bright red filipino hot dogs (a must). You can also order a side of rice and the sauces were self serve (made it a bit sticky). It gets a bit smoky in there even with the fans, but overall had an enjoyable time the time when I did visit.

The food on the sticks does not compare at all to other places I've had it especially the Philippines. The fish ball and lobster balls were dry and needing the fish ball sauce which they didn't have. Only sauce I did find that they say was an all around sauce was pretty much a watered down mang Tomas sauce. The bbq stick was rubber and way too sweet. The chicharon bulaklak was also rubber and not crunchy at all. The kikiam was okay. The isaw was not good at all, it lack seasoning. The shumai was dry. Service was you pretty much get what you want and heat it up yourself. Place was empty as there wasn't much people. Definitely first and last time coming here.

When you enter and get seated, you will be prompted to go on the url code at the table to pick your items. While I understand that this is the new way for restaurants to serve guests post-covid, the vast menu items you have to scroll through makes me long for physical menus of the past - but that's just my boomer take for the day. There were a bunch of other items like rice and noodle dishes that looked interesting to pair with the meats, but we were only craving bbq so we skipped out on the carbs. We ordered a BUNCH of skewers, from the standard beef, lamb, pork belly to chicken skin and a fried quail. All of the skewers had the same type of dried chili powder spice seasoning mix so unfortunately there wasn't too much of a diversity in flavor profile but on the flip side, it allowed us to focus more on enjoying the meat quality itself (this is where rice or noodles would definitely help cut through the richness). All of the meats were incredibly well-cooked and charred. It is on the drier side, so be aware if you are looking for a juicier, plumper cut of meat that some other restaurants have. Paired with the Chinese vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil, they were super delectable. My personal favorites were the pork belly, chicken skin, and beef. We had some leftovers to go and the staff provided us some extra sauce to go so that's a big plus. Great food here and definitely will be back to try more of the other menu items for the full experience.

Super awesome. The kitchen is wide open. Everything was super clean and well put together. Service - 5/5 Great recommendations from the staff. The house slaw and banana pudding were clearly popular choices, and they definitely knew what they were doing when guiding the order. I told them it's my first time. These were what they recommended me. One of the staff actually gave a piece of brisket to try. Very nice of them to give a free sample before I order so I know what I'm expecting. Food - 4.5/5 Dish Ordered: Dino Rib, Brisket ( 1/2 lb), House Slaw, Banana Pudding 5/5 Dino Rib Wow. This was the highlight. The meat was unbelievably tender--every single part of it. Usually with ribs, especially the upper portions, you get some toughness or dryness depending on how it's smoked. Not here. This one was melt-in-your-mouth soft, juicy throughout, and you could practically pull it apart effortlessly. The seasoning was perfect--balanced, not too salty, not bland, just right. Every bite hit. 4/5 Brisket ( 1/2 lb) About two slices. Visually, it looked great--nice color, juicy, with a solid fatty portion. But after eating the Dino rib, it felt a bit underwhelming. Still good, just didn't hit as hard flavor-wise. Might be better appreciated on its own next time. 5/5 House Slaw This paired extremely well with the meat. Sweet, tangy, and refreshing. The hint of peanuts adds a nice nutty layer that makes it stand out. It cuts through the richness of the meat perfectly. 5/5 Banana Pudding Not your typical pudding--it's more like a banana cake. The sweetness not too overwhelming, smells amazing, and just hits the spot. A great way to finish the meal. Additional Comments The Dino rib alone makes this place worth it. It sets a very high bar, which honestly makes everything else feel secondary. The best Rib I have ever had in my life so far. Important thing to note is that the rib will be weighed. I don't think you can ask to get the portion you want like you can with the brisket. My Dino rib came out to be 1.6lb. The sides and dessert complement the meal really well and round out the experience. Price is bit is definitely in the higher end but the experience is definitely worth it.

A $300 order can fit nicely into a regular paper grocery bag with room to spare, so make sure your wallet is mentally prepared so it does not go into shock. We had a sandwich. A pound of brisket and some baby back. My advice... unless you really want to suck the gravy off the bones or want to bring gift to your canine friend, don't get anything with bones as everything is by weight and I don't know about you, I can't chew on the bones. After close to $80, I had some meat off the rib and a piece of brisket, and craving some instant noodles ... The place is very transactional and noisy. But that is how it should be with a busy place where majority of orders are to-go.
