Pittsburgh Pottery is definitely one of the best shops in Carnegie, and is a must-visit for anyone…read morewho loves Pittsburgh. In their own words, this team strives "to provide locals, expats and newcomer Burgh fans alike with unique, functional and decorative ceramics." I personally own a few things from this shop, and I also keep it in mind as a local shopping option whenever a holiday or birthday is coming up. The items produced and sold here are all fantastic. From Steeler Nation and "nebby" mugs to pierogi magnets, the things that you think of when you think of the Steel City are very likely recognized in ceramic form at Pittsburgh Pottery. Regarding the specific items they sell, I'm particularly fond of their "Worsh" soap dispenser design, which is possibly the perfect combination of practical and Pittsburgh-centric design. The mug collection here is also great, with a variety of sizes as well as a variety of patterns (some of which also come with variations in their color schemes). Bonus points: since the business moved into a bigger storefront in Carnegie in the last couple of years, browsing through their fabulous creations is even more enjoyable. The extra space to walk and admire the store makes for a very relaxing visit, and the large front windows help to illuminate the shop and highlight the gorgeous ceramics. Plus, the new storefront even includes a "sale nook" - a little side room with items that, while still beautiful, have some sort of imperfection that has earned them a discount price. So there you have it, readers: yinz better stop in here soon if you love Pittsburgh! Alternatively, if you're holding off on visiting storefronts for the time being, you can browse their website and find the perfect Steel City trinket there. However you choose to shop, the ceramics made here are all high-quality, eye-catching creations, and you won't be disappointed.

What the actual f*** I am still so annoyed about what just happened at Aldi…read more My 1-year-old was literally just walking around the store, minding his own business, when he grabbed a tomato and started eating it. An associate noticed him eating it, went and grabbed another tomato, and kept it in his hand while we continued shopping so he could apparently keep track of it until we checked out. When we got to the register, the same associate came up to us and asked, "Do you guys need help?" We said no, and continued scanning our groceries. We scanned the tomatoes we actually picked out and paid for. Then, while we were checking out, this man literally slides the tomato he had been holding onto the scale. I asked, "Oh, did that fall out of my bag?" And he goes, "No, it's the one he was eating." ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?! You were literally keeping an eye on my 1-year-old, who was not causing any problems, not destroying anything, and was simply walking around the store. You watched him eat a tomato, went out of your way to grab another one, held onto it the entire time, and then waited until checkout to make sure we paid for it. Like... seriously?! And THEN, when we were leaving, he stopped us and asked to see our receipt -- as if we were trying to steal something. I have never in my life felt so disrespected at Aldi. And the craziest part is that I have been shopping at this same Aldi for EIGHT YEARS. I have never experienced anything like this. It wasn't about the damn tomato. If you wanted us to pay for something my 1-year-old ate, fine -- just say that. It was the way the entire situation was handled that was so incredibly disrespectful and embarrassing. After eight years of shopping there, I honestly left feeling completely humiliated.

Welcome to the Carnegie Get Go - the local spot to fuel up your car as well as pick up beer, wine,…read moreor various food items. The fuel pumps are pretty standard and if this was a normal gas station, I'd have nothing to really say about it. But like I said, there are drinks for sale here, and the ability to pick up beer and wine is pretty fantastic! This place even carries 6 packs that are hard to find at most beer distributors. Food-wise there are rows of bagged snacks, a cold section with Giant Eagle sandwiches and meals, and a custom order station similar to Sheetz. While the food is usually good and the beer sales a great perk, the 3 star rating unfortunately comes because there are never enough people working here to keep things moving quickly. All of the staff are perfectly lovely and good at their job, but every time I visit here, there is only one open register and a line that practically crosses the building waiting to check out. This Get Go could seriously benefit from studying when people visit and adding staff to shifts accordingly. Despite the limited manpower, I'm a regular here and will continue to be so. Some things in life are worth waiting for, after all!

Staff seems like they are annoyed you ask them anything and if there are lines, it seems like it takes forever. The store is not well kept, especially the bathroom and parking lots. There is a small seating area both inside and outside but they are both usually littered with trash. All that being said, the one place we've never had an issue is the made to order food. Our orders were always accurate and made fresh. Not a well run location, but I will likely visit again just because of proximity.
