I must have ordered the wrong thing when I visited this place. The food was fresh and delicious but left me feeling hungry. I wish I had ordered the other menu items as it looked far more voluminous and delicious. The server we had was very phony and she felt hostile towards us. Service was also slow and plain old uninviting. The outside seatings were nice but dark and cold. The parking is not the easiest to find. We chose to just park in the nearby garage and walked a block away. I may return in the future but unlikely.

Brie with mold, hair on french fry

We came here on a Friday afternoon. There were only 3 tables sat (including us). Looked like they only had one bartender working the restaurant, so I get it. A little understaffed. But our service was very slow. Took a while to get drinks, and food. We ordered the monte Cristo and a cheese plate and bread. There was mold on my brie cheese (not the good kind of cheese mold). Then there was a hair on my husband's french fry. I wasn't thrilled by this. I was really excited to try this place based on the reviews. I'll give the benefit of the doubt, it's possible we caught them at a bad time. On the bright side, there is a lot of outdoor seating, big wine options. Also the bread was incredible! So warm and garlicky and buttery. Would be willing to give it another try, but probably not going to go out of my way based on this experience.

    Steak Frites

Walked in for a late lunch and picked a couple of appetizers for my meal while my friend had the steak frites. The apple cider caramel on the fried Brussels sprouts was a unique flavor that I'd never seen before (usually it's balsamic vinegar) and it was a nice touch. The angry shrimp were perfectly cooked and the accompanying sauce was very flavorful. I don't drink, but they have a large selection of wines available too.

I had the best experience hosting a private party last Sunday at Vino Bistro. Everything was excellent from the communication before the party, to the organization, and excellent service. I definitely recommend Vino Bistro for any occasion and would like to recognize the manager Lori for making our experience one of the greatest and most memorable.

    Crab cakes

When you get the crabcakes, you might be disappointed that there are just two of them, but those two crabcakes are full of crab, and at the end of the day it is quality over quantity! The fries were crispy, and went well with the salad, which was lightly dressed with a citrus dressing. The beets were also pretty good; however, I would say that the beets were a bit over cooked as they were extremely soft. The dressing that was used was very light and refreshing, especially for a hot day. The plating was also incredibly cute and the spring mix was refreshing. The waitress made sure to keep our glass is full of water, and checked in on us, and we were in and out in under 30 minutes! I definitely would come back here for lunch when I'm in the area!

Cabin in the Woods - Bourbon, Cointreau, Oak, Vanilla, Citrus

Had dinner this weekend on a Saturday night. Made a reservation online for 7pm, we came 20 minutes early and was sat immediately with no problem. The host was very friendly, chatted with us and made food recommendation. Our server was not outstanding in anyway, sub par. The restaurant seems like it's going for a more upscale dining but the service did not match that. My boyfriend and I both ordered the Cabins in the Woods cocktail. Which is Bourbon, Cointreau, Oak, Vanilla, and Citrus. The drink was good, I enjoyed it. The only issue is there was a bad smell from the glass. Both my boyfriend and I glass had a very off putting smell, like it was not cleaned well. For appetizer, we ordered the Chipotle-Rubbed Ahh Tuna. The experience was extremely shocking as we received the dish. The host was chatting with us at the table, this is a 2-top table so not huge, we had drinks menus sitting in the table and holding the food menu. The lady that dropped off the food just quickly threw the plate down on the top of the drink menus and rushed away. It was so crazy that the plate was wobbling and the host started moving it off of the menus for us. The appetizer itself, the star of the show is the ahi tuna, well, unfortunately it was over cooked. So as we were eating it, it did not have that soft fresh taste. Pretty disappointing. The flavor profiles was good and I can appreciate the chipotle rub, the salad that came with it, with butternut, olives, tomatoes were refreshing. My boyfriend ordered the French Onion soup, good flavors , just not as bold. He also mentioned there's no croutons like typical French onion soup. Entree time. I do not understand why the server / runner dropping off the food seems to this aggressive food drop off. Once again we had our entree dropped off with such a unfriendly manner. My boyfriend and I was in disbelief with our experience. My boyfriend ordered the Steak Frites (We felt presentation could have looked better) He enjoyed it and loved the sauce that came with it. It is a Flat Iron Grassfed steak, Pommes Frites, and Âu Poivre Sauce. I ordered the Rack of New Zealand Lamb. My lamb was cooked perfectly to Medrare. I loved how it was Herb-Crusted w/ Dijon Mustard. It came with Roasted Potatoes and a Bordelaise Sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed the Lamb and the Bordelaise sauce that came with it. Overall, I finally checked this place out..I was not impressed. The combination of the service, some of the food and the drink experience made this experience just ok and not worth it.

Visited during Ice Fest 2023, starting with their featured wine tasting: 12 different wines for $20. It's worth noting they offer a wine club and are able to order just about anything that their voluminous selection doesn't already have. Note, the wine list pictured here is just a sampling of their total selection. Stayed for dinner. The shrimp appetizer was very pleasantly crunchy with flavorful sauces. Both cuts of meat were perfectly medium rare as ordered. The staff and food were great. Plenty of wine options and prices are fair. Definitely would return.

I celebrated my (large) bachelorette dinner here over the weekend. The staff did an amazing job accommodating such a big group and were incredibly attentive. I loved that they had a wide variety of menu items at different price points. We were able to have what felt like a nice meal out without breaking the bank. Added bonus - The restaurant was completely open to the patio so air circulation wasn't a concern. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was, unfortunately, the food. Everything seemed to be overcooked, including the duck and the fish dishes. The crab and lobster bisque was a solid recommendation (it's a family recipe!). I asked that they go light on the sauce for my shrimp pasta. When they brought it out with my friend's, they didn't ask which one was light sauce, so it was clear that my request was forgotten. It was still tasty but needed some TLC - some red pepper flakes and black pepper did the trick. My friend who got the same dish and I agreed that a light white wine sauce would've been preferred over the heavy cream sauce. Another friend said her food was also under-seasoned but I forget what she got. Despite the food not being exactly what I'd hoped for, I'm glad I chose this restaurant to celebrate with my friends. The ambiance and price were right and the staff was friendly. Perfect the food, and they'll have a great thing going!

We decided to walk in to this place on our way back from Leesburg wineries. We immediately fall in love With place. The menu is super elaborated and wonderful. The owners are garcious and staff is humble. I sat down and ordered coffee and to my surprise wonderful French press coffee came which I had not Seen since my last visit to Paris in December of 2022. Overall amazing place and awesome food. I recommend to everyone to visit once and decide for yourself.

In search for a great fish and chips .. Vino Bistro has a pretty decent one. The Tartar Sauce had a great spice to it. The breading was light, flaky and quite tasty. The size was a bit smaller than I expected. The chips (fries) were good.

100% recommend this place as a wedding venue for no more than 150 people…read more The venue: My wedding had about 135 and seemed like the perfect number. Also had my wedding in middle November which was a hit or miss on weather but was in the 50s, perfect weather for our little S'mores setup. And Birkby still had trees with leaves that fell late so we still had a variety of fall colors still in the backdrop. Birkby has such a homey comfortable feeling with the cottage house, gazebo and other garden space, and the reception tent. The tent, with the lightings, is so beautiful. When I asked a cousin for wedding pictures, she had about 15 of just the lighting. Good thing we had an actual photographer! The house has several rooms for the cocktail hour for the guestbook, gifts, and other neat hangout spots as well as a pair of restrooms. There are another pair of restrooms by the tent. The upstairs has a bridal and grooms suite. Bridal suite is large and my wife and her ladies loved it. The grooms suite is cozy with a TV, couch, and fridge--all you really need. The 2nd floor also has two porches that look out to the rest of the venue. Great photo ops! Coordinators: Had the viewing with Carleigh--absolutely fantastic and super friendly and decided to go with her and Kristin (Simply Royal Events) for our wedding coordinators. It felt like a huge advantage having them coordinate since they knew the place inside and out and knew most, if not all, of our vendors. They were quick to respond and adjust to all of our last minute changes and updates. They were all over the place (in the best way possible) from beginning to end as in they had everything organized and made sure people/things were in place and yet were also very available for any questions or comments I or the bride had the day of. The wedding transitions happened so swiftly that I hardly saw any of it happen. The ceremony chairs were swept off, space heaters were set up, the firepit and S'mores layout was done, and off I went through a line of sparklers. Vendors: The Birkby House has an open house every spring and invites their preferred caterer and vendors. Definitely check this out if you are interested in or planning on having an event/wedding at Birkby. There are a lot of local vendors present, some who don't really have the publicity as other vendors that may have hundreds of reviews. For example, we went with a local photographer Steve and Bernadette Dalgetty and even though we haven't received the pictures yet, they were such a charm to work with. We did go with their partner caterer Tuskies and that couldn't have gone any better. The tasting was a little unconventional. We basically just had dinner at their restaurant with a $100 tab so we couldn't really try specific items on their wedding menu but we tried the filet mignon and branzino dishes that best replicated the wedding entrees. We absolutely loved the filet mignon and this chocolate martini (which we added to our wedding) but the branzino was a bit dry so we actually considered removing the fish option but we were glad we didn't. ALL the food during our wedding was phenomenal from hor d'oeurves to entrees--best wedding food ever (said no one ever but I'm serious, Tuskies was amazing!) Not only was the food great but also Neal was so fun and easy to work with. They also allowed us to bring our own alcohol saving in some costs. I truly think the triple threat of Neal, Carleigh, and Kristin was the reason why my wedding went so smoothly or at least appeared like it ran smoothly haha. Misc: Other perks to the venue, there's a large public parking lot behind the venue that is really only used as a commuter lot during the week so it was fully available for guests. It's in downtown Leesburg so it's a great spot to check out a local bar if you come early. But speaking of downtown.. The con: The only negative thing about the venue is because it's in downtown Leesburg near residents, there was one resident who complained and called the cops multiple times. There's a noise curfew at 10pm which is when the wedding ends anyway but he complained well before 9pm. I'm sure this happens quite often, it has to being in such a residential area and while it was annoying having to deal with a disgruntled neighbor on your wedding night, the cops really seemed to care less. The cops said as long as the coordinators had the permit (which they did), the noise was fine.

Planning weddings often feels transactional, but finding businesses that resonate authentically is key: Silk Banquet. Working with Manas has been EXCEPTIONAL--he's been accommodating and supportive through numerous changes to both food and budget, key aspects of any wedding. It's like having a trusted friend by your side! The food tasting was PHENOMENAL (SO delicious) and the service impeccable. Manas and his team have guided us toward the perfect menu for our big day, offering live stations and more to elevate our wedding experience. Family is important; from my fiancé, to our parents and even my little brother, we're all in awe of the tremendous support Manas has provided from day one, even offering his expertise and advice for other aspects of the wedding. I do not plan to return and would not recommend this location unless major improvements are made. Before booking, I called to ask about compensation for shoe rentals since everyone in my party owns their own bowling shoes and equipment. I was told food or beverage compensation would be provided. However, when we arrived, the front desk staff seemed confused, and after a long delay, we were given arcade credit instead, which was not what was promised. Once we began bowling, the lane condition was unacceptable. Staff confirmed the lane had not been oiled in over two days and it was visibly dirty. It took over 30 minutes to clean my bowling ball and another 30 minutes to clean my girlfriend's. The lack of oil caused the ball to behave unpredictably, making proper play nearly impossible and risking damage to our equipment. The group bowling next to us repeatedly ignored basic bowling etiquette--throwing multiple balls at once and launching them excessively hard. At one point, a ball bounced into our lane, which was unsafe. One female staff member did her best to address the issue and deserves credit, but the behavior resumed shortly after. This situation highlighted a need for better staff training and consistent rule enforcement. There were also frequent scoring issues, as the pinsetter incorrectly registered frames and required constant manual corrections. The food was equally disappointing--the pretzel sticks tasted stale, as if reheated and left sitting. For nearly $100 for two hours of bowling, I expected a much better experience. The high prices, poor lane conditions, mediocre customer service, and lack of oversight made this an extremely frustrating visit. This location feels more like "boutique bowling" and is not suited for serious or competitive bowlers.

It felt like she was bringing a lot of personal biases to her perspective, which made the experience a lot less enjoyable than it could have been otherwise. She took us through the first-floor rooms and then announced the top floor is self-guided only. At the admission price, that detracted from it being a better experience. The road down to the main building was not paved, very long and bumpy. Once you arrive to where you're ready to park there really aren't any signs directing you of where to go so we went up to someone at the big building and asked if we were at the right place to which they confirmed we were. I would suggest a larger sign on the main road stating that the entrance is coming up rather than right at the entrance. There was a very cute store inside which would have been very nice to shop at but there was only one person working the pay line which was also full of people buying drinks and cocktails. I highly suggest at least 2 people working that area in the beginning when people are arriving and definitely at intermission. We would have purchased more if we were able to get in line, purchase our items, and be back in time but we didn't think we would make it back in time. Also, when leaving any event, PLEASE be very careful. There weren't any lights leading away from the building to the parking lot which was pretty scary given that it also was not paved or a sidewalk. It was rocks/dirt and we all had to use our phones to leave. This could be dangerous for others that may have more of a difficult time seeing at night.
