They prepare all the meats over a coal burning grill so the flavors are like whoa! The meat is never dry, and always tender. I tend to go for the chicken although the beef and pork ribs are my favorites. But you just can't have that everyday or one won't live another day to come back lol The yellow rice and the red and black beans are also a great complement to any of the dishes. If I can give this place less I would. I went there for Christmas for a take out order to get beef ribs and rice combo. First of all I ordered 2 orders of that combo. And each combo is supposed to feed 2. I got an additional order or broccoli and rice. The bill was $70 dollars which I was happy to pay because I have eaten the ribs there before. But Once I got home i saw the amount of ribs where only 5 pieces per order and were skimpy they barely had any meat at all on them. Plus 2 of the pieces where straight bone. Horrible service and hair in the food So we found hair in our full chicken, unfortunately we didn't want to drive back 20 mins to return the food so we called the place, no one spoke any English. But this is one of the few places in the area that offers Portuguese BBQ so I may still stop by. (Maybe try the cubed pork dish next time - it looked good but who knows what it'll taste like.) The good thing about this place is that it's fairly close and that you can't beat the amount of food for cost ratio. Especially for northern NJ. Someone told me that their steak is pretty good too...so maybe I'll try that next. I do love the open flame and the rotating grills. The guys that work there were pretty nice too. Some people go to restaurants to have a conversation with the wait staff, I go for the food; however, in the past I have not gone back to a restaurant where whether correct or not I thought the wait staff had been rude because after all there are way too many restaurants around. The food is excellent. Chicken is always tender- its different like no other. Everything else is good, the short ribs and the Salmon - I like the way they cook their Salmon. The rice and beans are pelntiful and tasty, it could be coin toss depending on how you and your team is doing with the diet whether to go with the rice and beans or the salad. In any case, an order here should handle 3 people. If you order rice go with the white instead of the yellow, the yellow feels like a paella type rice which would be good if it was in a paella full of ingridients. This place is what it is. It has great food, price, quick in and out (kinf of), parking is readily available especially later in the evening, but a co-pilot to keep an eye when ilegally parked is always helpful. Bottom line, this place is it. I'm not aware of any other place that offers what this restaurant offers. In fact, I passed by this place for over a year before I gave it a try. Now it has become one of those places that I can count on not to dissapoint. I go here once every two weeks. Depending on the diet, Dinner for two can run from $10 to $30 if you get a combo- the ladder includes tip. I'm literally confused right now. I ordered a bbq chicken with salad that was quoted as $9.75. When I arrived at the restaurant to pick up my order, I saw a picture of the Pichana steak and I wanted to change my order to add the steak. Immediately the lady at the register became upset and said that now she would have to pay for my original order of the bbq chicken only. She also stated that my order for the combo would be $3 more, $23 instead of $20 because I was substituting salad. I inquired about the increase in price because it was a substitution and not an addition. I asked to speak to the manager/owner because the simple interaction became very unpleasant. I didn't want her to pay for the food and I thought it didn't make sense that the restaurant would loose money from me not being able to get the combo (per the waitress). She called the owner who said they didn't have time to talk so overall it was just a waste of time and the weirdest interaction for all parties involved.
