$5 a shirt, "heavy starch" requested and what I got was something I could have done at home with a washer and an iron. NO creases and little starch. Oh yeah and they're disgustingly overpriced. The owner tried to rip me off. I paid $109 for alterations which they screwed up. I asked to have 4 shits ironed and he charged me $20, so I said let's do dry cleaning instead since it's $2.5 a shirt. It is very unfortunate to write this review, despite the owner's being Korean. Quality of Alternations: They completely botched my dress pants when I asked them to hem the pants. I strongly but respectfully informed them the hemming looked as though a 5th grader completed the alteration. As they strongly insisted it was good quality work, I just respectfully accepted the pants in the horrible condition it was in. Dry Cleaning Products Used Is VERY Poor: I should have stopped coming after the first month but given I work very demanding hours and it was so close by, I used to do all my dry cleaning here. What a MISTAKE! I truly believe the materials they use to dry clean customers' clothes are "recycled" over & over & over again several times as my clothes always had a bad stench. This makes me come to the conclusion the solvents they use are very cheap. I mean, if I'm paying money to get my clothes clean, one would expect it to be (1) clean, (2) pressed and (3) not SMELLY! And it's sad to say, the service and quality of their dry cleaning is the same and sub-par. *** SLIGHT UPDATE BELOW *** The owner's son has reached out to me several times to (1) validate my account and that I was a previous customer (unfortunately, his tactics were a bit more brass than I expected where he somewhat demanded me to prove who I was and that I was an actual customer previously. Impressive! Having suffered years of Soapy Joe's high prices and bad service I was hesitant to attempt a new dry cleaners but gave these guys a chance based on their Yelp reviews. Took five shirts in and they had them back to me in a couple of days for less than $10. Best of all they did an incredible job in getting out the sweat and grime stains from the collars and cuffs. A friend of mine used this place and it was convenient to work so I decided to drop off some work pants to be dry-cleaned and I requested they repair a hem that fell out on one pair, too. Super friendly. I told her no rush but they still guaranteed them to be ready in only a few days. I picked up my order and did a quick check and noticed they sewed the frayed ends on another pair of pants, too - without charging me! That is some customer service - unheard of! Very nice family-owned cleaning place. They cleaned my wife's chinese wedding dress for $10. And for her white American dress, they cleaned it for about $100 and that includes putting it in a VERY nice display box/frame. They are extremely friendly. I really enjoy coming here as the owner always greets me with a smile and remembers my name... despite the fact that I come about once every 3-4 months. Service is great and I can usually get my clothes dry cleaned in about two days (I never attempted next day service). They also work with you to see when you'd like to have your clothes ready by. I haven't had any bad experiences with my dry cleaning (some other cleaners have left this weird film that ruined some shirts) and they are pretty good with alterations and fixing my shoes. Really like this cleaners. They have done my husband's dress shirts, suits, and our king-size bed comforter. They are always very friendly and call me by my married name. I drive from South Riding to go here because they do such a great job. The last time I was there, I asked if they sold collar stays for my husband's dress shirt. The owner stepped into the back and gave me a pair of new, wrapped metal shirt collar stays and reminded me to always take them out before cleaning. I thought that was very nice and generous of him to give them to me. read more

The cleaners may be affordable but can't say much about the quality of work. My shirts collars come out having those deep embedded wrinkles that I end up having to take elsewhere to take out. I rather pay more for better quality pressed shirts. The people are friendly though. read more

I have used this cleaners for over 20 years. In that time, I only had 1 item ever ruined. At the time, business was owned by the Kim family and they pointed out the problem and paid for it immediately. My items were always spotless, hung correctly and fantastic, fast service. In the last few years, the Kims sold the business and the service has gone downhill at a rapid pace. They cannot follow simple instructions for hanging the clothes, clothes are not as clean and I have heard other customers make the same comments. I recently approached them about an item that was damaged and they said they didn't do it, that I must have a moth in the closet. Well....I do not. I have a fashion merchandising degree and a background in textiles, so fairly familiar with the difference. Also terrible at alterations. I've been looking for an affordable cleaner in Fairfax for a long time and I am so happy I found Fair Lakes Cleaners! I chose them because the majority of the reviews on Yelp were positive and that's not common when it comes to reviews on dry cleaning services. On Saturday I brought over a pea coat that I bought at J. Crew almost a year ago, several silk blouses, a blazer, a skirt and a pair of dress pants. The most expensive item was the coat ($13.95) and the grand total came to $44.90. When I walked in, the young man at the front desk flashed me the brightest smile I've ever seen from someone standing behind the counter of a service desk. The people there are indescribably friendly and the prices are reasonable. They told me I could pick my items up on Monday. When I picked up my clothes, I took them home and began my typical inspection process. Everything was perfect and looked brand new! Two of my silk blouses had a ton of bronzer on the lining when I dropped them off and when I picked them up, they were exactly the same as when I picked them out at the store. This was by far the best experience I've ever had at a dry cleaners. I highly recommend them and I've already dropped off the remainder of my winter coats to get spruced up. Service: 10/10 Quality: 10/10 Cleanliness: 10/10 Pricing: 10/10 Go there! I can't speak on alterations but I can say that their cleaning service is exceptional.. Do not use this cleaners!! I have been going there for over a year, and they did not block my sweater properly. I went back the next day, and they would not try to fix it. This is not a cheap cleaners. It surprised me that they would treat a good customer like that. I even took in an identical sweater in a different color so they could see the mistake. I am really picky where I take my clothes. The place I used to go to is a little far now that I am currently working at the client site. I went there to dry clean some clothes and fix a piece that had ripped on this dress I only wore once. I didn't think they would be able to really make it look like it did before, but I hoped that they would. In terms of their cleaning ability and speed, excellent. They're eco friendly and very personable. Unfortunately, I tried their alteration service, and had to dock them for it. Brought in a suit for cleaning and hem repair of the pants; the SO's skirt went in for a hem repair as well. Both jobs are loose, the pants will need a repair again soon. These are awful people and I would not recommend them to anyone. They ruined my white linen scarf and did not even let me know that they had torn it up! I found out until I got home! This was a dry clean only scarf and quite expensive. I was told by the manager that they had not even tried to dry clean it because it was too delicate but when I looked at it at home it had a huge tear in the center! This is a very dishonest group of people. If they were a reputable company they would have let me know that they messed up and offered some sort of a remedy. Won't be going here again. My husband and I took in his suit and my suit (women's) to be cleaned. My dress shirts (button down) got charged as "blouses" $4.95 whereas his dress shirt (button down) was charged as such at $1.65. When my husband asked why their was a price difference in the exact same item (just one being a women's and one being men's) they said it was due to the fact women's shirts are smaller and cannot fit in the press. Needless to say, we will not be going back here again. It's the exact same item and a way to be up charged. Don't waste your time, decent cleaning but most definitely not worth the price. I can get the exact same quality cleaning job elsewhere for the a fraction the cost. It's a SCAM to charge someone more for such a ridiculous reason. read more

This USED to be my go to place for all Dry cleaning when I moved to the area about 2 years ago, however the past couple of times I have gone (Normally go every month) I am left very disappointed. My last experience took the cake, when I received a very expensive jacket that I purchased a couple of months ago DAMAGED! The owners were NOT helpful and did not seem to care that this was happening. All they offered to do was repair the damage, which they tried to charge me for. I am sorry if you damage someones garments you should not just fix the damage, you should offer to replace the item. Safe to say I will not be using this cleaners from now on! read more
