The system in place does not work well for the price $50 for gel pedicure absolutely my second trip I had to ask her to to work on the skin. I am unable to do my own. I would much rather pay for a pedicure than the $50 co-pay to go to a podiatrist. I'm truly disappointed because I the boutique nail is a little cramped and you do have climb stairs don't arrive early because the chair outside the door is very uncomfortable to sit in! on the first floor they're very friendly they greet you as you come in not connected with the nail salon ! I love to shop small I patronize small businesses as much as humanly possible and avoid the big boxes and the the women that talk about their native tongue. Reserving an appointment online was really easy; I had Katie do my manicures. The first time I came in was a 15 minute wait even though I had an appointment & it seems like the more you're a regular, the more you get quickly seated. They offer some beverages (coffee, tea, coke, diet coke, bottled water) during your visit as well. I appreciated the quiet and ability to zone out with headphones or keep a conversation with the tech if you wanted to. They also have a punch card and the freebie is a free paraffin wax if you keep visiting. I appreciated how gentle Katie was in removing gelx to minimize damage to my nails as some other places file way too much. My last visit recently, I was relaxing a bit and felt my cuticle sting a bit. Typically I am good keeping up w the cuticle care at home(!), yet I held my hand up to notice and was a bit disappointed Katie gave a quick "sorry" but let it be and did not bother to dress it or put gauze, let alone her acknowledging the error from the jump would have gone over far better. Some time went on and I moved my hand w her shaping my cuticles to prevent that error from happening again and she told me curtly twice to not do that. Lol..well heres the deal. After ready most all these reviews i noticed its 50/50...about even between 5 stars and 1 to 2 stars. It took me back to the time i was a regular there for quite awhile ( about 6 months or so). I went in one day and i already knew it was going to end in catastrophe. The gal i wanted was on vacation so they had a new gal( super young, she looked 12 but im sure she was at least 18). Someone else put my tips on( i was in for a full set and pedi), and the young girl then took over in filing and shaping my nails. Let me tell you i was ready to grab that drill from her hand and do it myself after watching her and feeling her bur the skin off right at my cuticle!! ( im familar with slo speed drills and acrylic burs im a dental assiatant and use that drill for making temporary crowns all the time). She apologized and continued on..when she started shaping with the file i kept telling her i want square swuare not round square(( or squaval as they refer to it nowadays). Anyways she finished and let me tell you the shape looked ridiculous! I mean wtf! I paid , walked out to my car and turned around and walked back in and asked go speak with the owner Jen( same owner then in the early 2000's as now..shes probably lost her passion for the industry by now lol). Anywho, she looks at my nails and says whats wrong with them? I looked at her and said " really?? Can you not see how ridiculous these are and how stupid the shape is? So she grabs a file while im standing at the front desk and starts filing on them( AGAIN ..REALLY??!!). They looked no better than when i left the first time. I asked the lady who did my nails to please write her name down so I can request her again, and to my surprise, I had the owner herself doing my nails! Many ladies who walked in after my appt, she greeted by first name and you could just tell that she made a lasting impression on many other clients.
