Sweet and salty, rainbow, caramel, cheddar... you name it - they have it. My first time in was this weekend while trolling Findlay Market for some corn. Luckily, I found mama's. HOWEVER - I watched and was disturbed as some unidentified man was popping and tossing kernels! It was, indeed, NOT MAMA. I think this might be false advertising or mama has someone doing her poppin' for her... Popcorn is likely one of the cheapest snacks you can possibly make. Somehow they managed to charge $6 for a bag and it was good enough that I felt okay about it. Now that is kettle corn done right.

You're not going to find olive oil of this quality at the grocery store, and you'll enjoy the huge variety of flavors of both oils and vinegars. Once you start tasting (an idea that might seem strange at first, but will grow on you), you'll want to try them all, and Bel and his employees will let you do that if you want. They will suggest pairings, and give you recipes with which to impress your family and friends. Sometimes they even have foods to sample. I like to put just vinegar (apple, black cherry, or blackberry/ginger) on a salad as a fat-free dressing. For Thanksgiving, I sauté the onion and celery for my dressing/stuffing in their sage and mushroom olive oil for added flavor. One visit and you'll never get your oil or vinegar anywhere else.

The ladies mixed some of the balsamic and olive oils together to show how well some of them pair together. And a find it truly was; the ONLY negative I can think of about this store is its location, tucked away in the excessive sprawl of a huge suburban shopping complex. I would never have known about it if a friend hadn't told me, and SO glad she did. Hopefully others will find it too thru Yelp. I am a snob for quality olive oils and balsamic, as there truly is a difference between brands and sources! Here in Ohio it's been either Jungle Jim or Country Fresh when in quest of the kind of quality I'd been accustomed to find easily in New York. The tremendous selection of oils, including a huge variety of those infused with natural flavorings, made Spicy Olive a heaven on earth for me. The balsamics, too, available in white or regular, have an array of flavorings I'd never dreamed of. Black Cherry! For a home made vinaigrette worthy of a five star restaurant. Dark Chocolate! I was astounded at how delicious were strawberries dipped in this stuff, not to mention the fat and calories avoided by dipping in chocolate balsamic instead of melted chocolate. Each variety (and there are SCORES .. Will try to count them on my next visit) has a cards with suggestions on pairings, general uses, and some basic recipes. As Kara said, the staff knows their stuff and will answer any and all questions. You can taste as many as you like and there is no hard sale pressure to buy. You won't need any though! Three sizes of bottles are available which are filled for you directly from the urns (There is a technical name for these containers, which escapes me at present). For high-quality, fresh imported product, the prices are definitely fair, certainly no more than I would expect to pay at one of the above-mentioned stores. If you are torn, they have a great option of six mini bottles for $30, mix and match vinegars and/or oils. For two bucks more you can have your choices gift boxed. (HINT HINT). We went with the six bottle sampler on our first visit as I simply could not decide. I've used at least one of them every day, in salads, sautéed vegetables, roasting, bread and fruit dipping, soup seasoning..... I can see a store like this downtown.... Or in Brooklyn. So thrilled to find this in West Chester! Put this one on your list, after you experience it you won't be buying your olio e balsamico anywhere else.

The owners were fun and engaging and made excellent appetizers to go with our experience for the evening. The shop is located in the Crestview Hills shopping center. This paid event came with a couple glasses of wine and we were able to choose which wine we wanted them to pour, we just let them know red or white, sweet or dry. I chose a couple of sweet ones and I liked them both. They had a fall design picked for everyone for the glasses and even though the theme was chosen everyone's glass set had its own personality. They gave instructions along the way and dispersed the paint to us. After the class you were to set the paint in place in the oven. Remember also to hand wash the glasses as the dishwasher would remove the paint. After painting we also got to try their many liqueur types and also some pre-blended cocktails. They also have olive oils, vinegars, and gift items located through-out the store. They have started offering food all day now and the appetizers were delicious so I have to imagine their food offerings would be as well. Come out and see them.

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, an employee at Gibbs Cheese & Sausage, at Findlay Market, snatched off…read morehis cap and apron in a rage, and in front of a crowd of customers & co-workers, he used foul language, calling me and my companion c---suckers (an old gay slur that rolled quickly and easily off his tongue) and threatened us with bodily harm. He dramatically stormed the back entrance of his work station to approach us in the common area of the market to "beat our asses." We have since learned that his name is Sid. That's him in the blue cap. Why? Twenty minutes earlier, we'd stood in a long customer line that went all the way back to the next vendor. Sid repeatedly ignored the line by helping random customers who congregated in front of the line. After waiting an inordinate amount of time, he finally worked his way to us, and that's when I decided to call it to his attention. I wasn't rude or nasty; he just didn't like being called out! "Do you want to place an order or not" he says. I ignored his surliness and attempted to place an order. "Just shut up already" he added before I could get my words out. He pushed the final button, and for a hot minute, I sank to his level; we traded profanities and then I left with my companion. We didn't have to think too long to decide that his flagrant display of disrespect was not acceptable. We chose to launch a formal complaint. To show exactly who we were dealing with, we came back to snap his picture. We told him that he didn't get to treat us with such disregard and expect us to spend our money with Gibbs. That's the moment he lost his mind! Before the situation escalated any further, we left the establishment again, this time seeking the assistance of John Bird, the director of Market Operations, at Findlay Market. Mr. Bird assured us that he would talk with Claire and Jeff, the Gibbs owners, but warned that any disciplinary actions would be up to them. Weeks went by, and we decided to reach out to Gibbs ourselves. Over the phone, Jeff acknowledged that he definitely heard from several sources what happened. He gave us a weak apology and tried to justify Sid's behavior. We all have bad days, but there is no justification for Sid's arrogance, anger, and unprofessionalism. We're not of the customer-is-always-right school, but Sid was WRONG! It was an ugly and extremely uncomfortable situation. We shop at the market on a weekly basis, and don't feel as if we have to tip around a powder keg. Perhaps that's how Gibbs feels about their repeat customers. Perhaps that's how they do business these days - a tap on the wrist for ugliness that would've gotten anyone else fired! Yes, we think Sid should be FIRED! Oh, and might I add the employee pictured in the red cap cursed us and royally gave us the middle finger as we walked away. For all of these reasons, we're no longer Gibbs' customers - and Jeff agreed that was a determination we had to make. Now that you know what we experienced, perhaps you will choose to be a former Gibbs customer as well. As easily as it happened to us, it could happen to you!
